For Fifty Nine Years, I’ve Put Up With It Now “How The Grinch Stole Christmas” (1966)
Star, I am here to present you with a new guy: The Cat in the Ha- NO COME BACK COME BACK
Before Mike Myers, there was a little 1993 picture called In Search of Dr. Seuss (it's on Youtube!!), a biographical retrospective on Ted Geisel and his body of work. And in it, Matt Frewer plays the Cat in the Hat.
He's so silly. He's got fuzzy coattails and shoes that leave cat prints. He gets upset that a different character stole his magic revolving door gimmick. He's protective of Dr. Seuss's image and telling the story as it was. And he takes reporter Kathy Lane (on the left) all over the world of Seuss after she gets into his house.
Look at him. He's delightful.
THE CAT IN THE HAT? HOW DARE YOU BRING HIM BACK TO THIS HOUSE
Esme, you may think you can trick me with a delightfully whimsical version of this creature, and i will admit myself to have momentarily been Kombucha Girl. the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak. leave, and take your dapper furry with you ⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️⚠️
Happy Birthday, Dr. Seuss!!

The Cat in the Hat Publicity Cel (DePatie-Freleng, c. 1970s-80s)
The Cat in the Hat is featured here in this delightful hand-painted original publicity cel based on Dr. Seuss' beloved classic children's book. The first adaptation of the book was the famous 1971 animated TV special produced by DePatie-Freleng Enterprises in collaboration with Chuck Jones and Ted Geisel.
I've been using a phrase wrong comrades
Everyone knows about Jones' How The Grinch Stole Christmas special from 1966, but do you know about the 1986 Russian Thidwick adaptation? With artwork painted on glass, it looks even more beautiful in motion
