Space facts!

Black holes are mysterious. They are huge concentrations of matter packed into very tiny spaces.

A black hole is so dense that gravity just beneath its surface, the event horizon, is strong enough that nothing - not even light - can escape.

Black holes can be stellar or supermassive.

However, continued studies propose intermediate (middle ground mass), primordial (formed with the universe), and ultramassive (in the case of TON 618).

Last semester (Fall 2020) I made a Choose Your Own Adventure/Romance story based around the first four planets of the solar system. I figured, “hey, that’s the kind of content that would do okay on Tumblr. So here It is. Everything is virtually unedited from the initial projects. I hope you enjoy it and have fun. 

I’m not sure how the artist feels about me using the icon creator for character designs, so the designs will be replaced with a short description by yours truly :3, but the original creator of the picrew I used is scuff scotch.

All (read: minus one news article) information comes directly from NASA’s websistes at the time. If there have been any major changes since then, my apologies.

Space Space: Solar System!! Is a, comparably, short educational choose your own adventure story revolving around the Terrestrial Planets… but as possible love interests. The reader is a college student, looking to learn more about the planets but stumbles upon them after a night of heavy studying. While talking and interacting with them, they learn more about them, ending the day closer to one of them only to figure it was a dream but with a better understanding about their chosen planet and waking with a keepsake from said planet.

Mercury:

This fiery redhead is small and bitter. They’re darkskin with dull brown/red eyes and orange glasses. Their hair is curly and coiled, brushed into a simple puff with bangs. 

 Mercury is closest to the sun and inhospitable, making them not very “likeable”. A tsundere, oldest of the terrestrial planets, Mercury lives in the shadow of their more popular siblings and nephews (Mars and his moons, Venus, and Earth and his moon). Crunchy on the outside, melty nerd on the inside, if MC (reader) can crack that cratered, edgy, low in oxygen exterior, they’d find a melty, iron center. They get surprised when asked about themselves rather than their siblings. Can get hot and cold easily. 

Venus:

This moderately light skinned is plump and round with dark spots of Melasma. Her eyes are blue on her left and brown in the right. She favors the color blue.

Just like their name sake, Venus is a flirty, socialite, having hosted over 40 space crafts. They can be passive aggressive, open to insulting the MC due to their hot temper. Easily annoyed with her other siblings, Venus isn’t as popular as her brothers Earth and Mars, but she’s still happening and more popular than her older sibling, Mercury. Takes compliments like water despite not having any water, insults get her extremely angry. Her variations in surface are a bit of a sore spot, she always calls Earth a “hack poser” for trying to copy her heavy greenhouse gas filled atmosphere as well as a “baby” for not being able to handle it as well. Considers herself a trendsetter.

Earth:

Light skinned with light brown hair done in a topknot with shaved sides, Earth is a similar size to Venus. His left eye is blue while the other is green. He’s currently wearing a mask due to feeling unwell.

Earth is a popular, “frat boy” planet. He’s well-liked and popular considering the fact he’s the only one of his siblings known to host complex living organisms. He’s laidback but can get boisterous without noticing. He’s feeling a bit unwell due to some greenhouse gasses getting trapped but he’s taking it like a champ. Though he’s not the oldest, he’s curious about his other siblings as they tend to ignore his questions. He’s friendly and tries to get along with everyone, even with Mercury’s annoyance and Venus’s anger. He’s got pretty good skin due to the fact asteroids have a harder time hitting him due to a bulk of them breaking up in the atmosphere. When he’s not hanging around, he’s with his son, Moon.

Mars: 

Closer to dark skinned, He’s way into the red aesthetic. His light reddish brown hair is medium length dense and coily. His left eye is a pale reddish/orange while his other is bright red. 

Mars is the loveable goofball of the Terrestrial siblings. Usually cold, you won’t see him out of a jacket. Mars is closest to Earth relationship wise as they tend to talk to each other more than the others. Mars is smaller than Venus and Earth but not quite as small as Mercury and will lovingly tease them for it. He’s pretty chill most of the time, and makes friends pretty easily, but not as easily as his brother Earth. He’s well known but doesn’t mind it. He has slightly bumpy skin, but Earth is trying to push a skincare routine on him so he’s more hospitable . He’s got two sons- Phobos and Deimos. He and Earth get into petty arguments about how he could be hospitable if he just tried even though he’s not a hundred onboard with the idea.

The Solar System – Nearby Planets, Terrestrial Planets

Four planets are closest to the Sun: Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars. These four planets are also called the terrestrial planets. Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system and is closest to the Sun. It can be hot there, up to 430 degrees Celsius. And it can be cold, down to -190 degrees Celsius. There are dark places where the sun doesn't reach. Ice is even thought to exist there.

The second planet from the Sun is Venus. It has a very strong greenhouse effect due to its thick atmosphere. It is also the hottest planet in the solar system. The average temperature there is 477 degrees Celsius. 96 percent of the atmosphere is carbon dioxide. Venus and Earth are similar in composition and are also about the same size.

Earth is the densest of the terrestrial planets. It has a liquid ocean. An atmosphere. And even life. The most unique planet. Earth formed 4.5 billion years ago. About 70 percent of the surface is water. There's an ocean. There's ice at the poles. It has the strongest gravity of the terrestrial planets. It has a solid surface. It's the third planet from the Sun.

Mars is the last planet in the terrestrial group. It's the fourth planet from the Sun. It has an atmosphere. Like Venus, it's also made of carbon dioxide. The planet's red color is due to iron oxide. The atmosphere is thin and there's a lot of dust. There's a lot of erosion from water. Mars also has seasons. It's cold there in the winter, down to -150 degrees Celsius. And the warmest time in the summer is +20 degrees Celsius.

If you want to know all information about TERRESTRIAL PLANETS. At first, you should know about Terrestrial it refers to Planet. It is like our Earth. It is made up of rock. The word Terrestrial came from the Latin word “terra” which means Earth. Terrestrial Planets have similarities with our Earth.

Description of Terrestrial Planets

The first four planets nearest the sun known as the terrestrial planets because of their Earthlike characteristics, especially their rocky composition. Each of the four terrestrial planets-Mercury, Venus, Earth, and Mars-has distinctive features that set it apart from its neighbours in the solar system.

Mercury is the closest planet to the sun. Mercury orbits the sun in only 88 Earth days. It revolves on its axis so slowly that one Mercurian day lasts 59 Earth days. It has a large iron core, suggesting that it lost most of its surface in an ancient collision.

Mercury appears to be shrinking still as its iron core grows cold. Venus has the densest atmosphere of any planet in the solar system and composed largely of clouds of carbon dioxide some 40 miles thick.

These clouds trap incoming sunlight, which heats the planet’s surface to 880°F day and night. No trace of water has been found on Venus’s surface. It shines luminously, making it the third brightest object in our sky after the sun and the moon. Earth has a unique blue-and-white appearance. 70 percent of its surface covered with water. its atmosphere filled with clouds rich in oxygen.

Both its optimum distance from the sun and the vapor-make Earth conducive to life. Earth’s terrain varies more than that of any other planet, and its lifeforms thrive on land and in water. Mars’s iron-rich soil gives it a reddish glow. Half the size of Earth, Mars is known for the oversize features of its terrain. Its Valles Mariner’s canyon stretches some 2,500 miles, equivalent to the distance from Los Angeles to New York City.

Its Olympus Mons volcano stands at least 15 miles high, more than twice the height of Mount Everest. Despite Mars’s inhospitable atmosphere, the United States still hopes to send a manned spacecraft to this,

Earth’s closest neighbor. Ceres, a dwarf planet, resides in the asteroid belt that orbits the sun between Mars and Jupiter. About one-fourth the size of Earth’s moon, Ceres is the largest object. Belt of solar system leftover essence of water in three states-liquid, solid and vapors

WHAT IS THE ASTEROID BELT?

The asteroid belt, located between the orbits of Mars and Jupiter. The asteroid belt is a wide belt of material orbiting the sun that contains perhaps millions of asteroids.

Ceres, an asteroid recently upgraded to a dwarf planet, is also found here. These asteroids are spread out over such a large swath of space that a spacecraft traveling through the belt would rarely encounter one.

They tend to collect in orbiting groups separated from one another by significant gaps, called Kirkwood gaps and which are caused by the gravitational pull of Jupiter. Jupiter’s gravity occasionally pulls an asteroid out of orbit and sends it hurtling to the sun. A rare asteroid veer out of the belt and rockets to Earth.
