"Danny" was the winner of the name poll, so the Young Housemother officially has a real name (everyone cheered). Without further ado, here's the final installment (season 3) that I forgot to write from the Young House Mother bullet point series
danny is praying to every god who might be listening that she has a normal year taking care of these kids who are basically all young adults themselves now
obviously, the gods hate her because the school years starts with amber's birthday extravaganza paired with the crashout of a century from fabian when he finds out nina's not coming back to school via letter
danny feels torn because she knows it's mostly about her grandmother's health (she's not been informed about the potential divine consequences of it al), and she relates, but on the other hand she feels terrible for fabian because "we've all be lowkey ghosted i feel ur pain bro"
jason's health is really bad, and with no potential improvement in sight, danny is lowkey just visiting now to provide him comfort. it's a very tragic romance atp, but there's nothing she can do, right?
once fabian is off suicide watch, danny is under fire from victor because he's convinced her meddling ass stole his secret package.
danny's like "what package, diva?" which pisses victor off even more and he keeps threatening her
when it becomes clear she fr has no clue what he's talking about and he switches to harassing the kids, that's when she starts asking sibuna (who are acting shady again) if they know what's going on.
they of course are like "no comment" and she doesn't really have any choice but to trust them
she enjoys talking to the new girl kt, and assures her that patricia is mean like that to everyone, and to ignore eddie because he's definitely got a screw loose (she watched him banish a guy and ghost to hell a few months earlier, cut her some slack lol)
there's also a hip young new teacher, who's only like 8 or so years older than danny, and danny is realizing quickly that, in your mind 20s, less than ten years difference means very little when it comes to adult friendships
so she's like a little desperate for friends in her age bracket since esther's been gone, and jason is lying in a hospital bed, and all her uni friends live in london now
and danny is very purposefully pursuing a friendship with denby, but denby is just NOT having it, which is supremely frustrating for danny, and highly entertaining/concerning for just about everyone else
the kids are worried that maybe danny is in cahoots with denby, victor, and sweet, and so they start giving her a wider berth.
meanwhile this poor 26 year old woman is just trying to find someone to get drinks with on a friday night, and now nobody fw her
she's on the outside of mystery shenanigans for most of the eclipse ceremony prep, instead finding herself getting roped into the whole sisterhood drama
"ladies, I've been through enough to know when a man is guilty of something.... trust me"
she does NOT mean to get as involved as she does but the girls are so sad, and she’s got nothing else to occupy her time outside of cooking, cleaning, etc.
so sue her. teen drama is entertaining. her situationship is terminal, she’s got no life… cut her some slack lol
she’s also well aware that at the same time that the whole mara/jerome/joy + willow situation is getting progressively messier, something wild is happening with the sibuna kiddos that they are clearly not handling well at all
they’re always sneaking around, and there’s only so many times she can keep ignoring it/covering for them, especially since victor’s regular crash outs are becoming more frequent and more explosive, seemingly overnight.
while this is all going on, danny is working overtime between regular housemother duties, helping with the dodgeball stuff, the sisterhood play stuff, visiting jason, and just in general trying to be everyone’s therapist (none of it’s working out well)
denby keeps coming over, and danny keeps trying to get her to stay for tea, still because she wants a pal, but also because she probably knows a good amount about wtf is going on with victor and maybe even the kids
denby is still not giving her the time of day LMAO
danny has also noticed that kt is being shunned by her friends, and that definitely is out of the norm, but she’s so wrapped up in teen drama already, that she’s sort of spread herself a bit too thin to be getting involved with more of that
her first real encounter with the dangerous side of things is when robert frobisher-smythe pulls up on the house after a disastrous meeting about the school play
unlike trudy’s kind and trusting self, danny is having absolutely NONE of whatever bullshit frobisher is yapping on about “being a former student in my younger days” cuz it’s like “yeah wow that’s great and all, but why are you as a grown man breaking into a house full of children on a random school night? i’ve seen dateline, mate, you’re not fooling me”
so she’s understandably hooting and hollering that there’s a child predator in the house, which naturally isn’t helpful for robert capturing sinners, and he’s forced to retreat
sinner!victor is fuming at this, and starts accusing danny of being a hysterical girl who isn’t fit to be around children if she’s making things up like that (trying to rile her up, of course), and it turns into a crazy blow out in the foyer
it’s Not Good™ … like evil victor’s genuinely about to start swinging on this young lady
but the students intervene on her behalf (apart from evil patricia obvi) like “no we trust her! thank you, danny!” cuz that’s their big sister yknow?
the sibuna boys are shitting themselves because they know she’s not lying, and they want to tell her everything because they think their housemum might be a target for team evil
but ofc sinner!patricia is like “no we can’t tell her it’s too dangerous!” and everyone folds like a house of cards
luckily kt decides to appeal to danny after this epic crashout, and she explains the situation. having seen all the other things she’s seen over the past two years, danny believes her, but also needs time to process
she drinks an entire bottle of wine that night, because frankly she deserves it
“you mean harriet is evil, and also not named harriet? but she seemed so cool!” “girl… can i have a sip of that?”
the play is the same exact disaster as it always is, and danny feels bad about not being there for mara/joy/jerome, but she’s sorta got bigger fish to fry now
everyone involved is running all over campus, and she and kt split up to find fabian
before she can intervene on that nightmare, denby and victor corner her and are like “we are having a post-play party, and you have to host 😀🔫”
she gulps and does her best to whip something up, because now that she’s aware of what’s happening, she just really doesn’t wanna die lmao
shes trying to signal to eddie the entire party that she knows what he knows, but victor and patricia keep running interference on her, and before she can tell him not to do anything dumb, he’s already off to the gatehouse
alfie and sinner!fabian are having their beef, and danny just wants a cigarette, a stiff drink, and for this to be over
shes trying to help alfie without blowing up her spot, but she keeps getting dragged into the sisterhood drama, which she feels bad about not being more help to, but also jfc guys you’re 17 it’s FINE he wasn’t ever gonna be your husband
when eddie doesn’t come home that night, danny pulls alfie and kt aside like “hey, so on top of keeping track of you/keeping you safe, i also care about you all so WHERE TF IS THAT BOY?”
“you might wanna sit down…”
she may be the only non-evil adult in the room, but she’s really only good at moral support atp this is SO above her pay grade
she tries to forbid alfie and kt from staging a rescue mission for eddie bc it’s too dangerous, and they kinda just look at her like “well are you gonna stop us?”
the answer is no, so she ends up being left to wrangle the unruly cats that are sinner!patricia and sinner!fabian, and a very upset mara, joy, jerome, and mildly upset willow
and now there’s also fleas and two hedgehogs running around??? usually victor deals with the pests, but because he’s evil and scary now, she has to de-flea the whole place while trying not to get got.
danny lowkey is scrolling LinkedIn for another job at the same time bc enough is enough
it hits mid-day and she’s actually shitting herself when kt and eddie pull back up with a box and no alfie
“YOU LEFT HIM THERE?!?!?”
“you might wanna sit down…”
but there’s no time to sit down, because on third of her kids are building an ancient staff, the other third is evil, and the final third is going through bad breakups
while kt and eddie are upstairs, danny is drinking straight from the cooking sherry in the kitchen (standing up, ofc bc there’s no time to sit down)
she gets intercepted by jerome who’s begging her for advice on how to write down what he feels for joy, and while normally danny would be all over that, she’s really scared (and also a tiny bit drunk), so she’s like “man up and just tell her everything you just told me out loud, pussy. or write down exactly what you just said, idk just lay low for a while” which is such a shock to jerome that he actually decides to do it
by now, the house is mostly empty, now that shit’s going down at the gatehouse, and danny, with nothing to do but wait for something bad to happen, keeps de-fleaing the house and comforting crying girls
all seems eerily calm… too calm
when the evil trio pulls back up with their corny “ammut o’clock” spiel and frobisher right behind them, danny starts trying to rally the troops and get them up into the attic for some relative safety, but it’s no use because nobody’s ready or aware enough to keep from being cornered
whole house taken, whole house mad
danny is having a delightful time doing evil shenanigans, and much like trudy makes lots of treats for the bad guys…
but they’re EVIL treats… like laced with the devil’s lettuce…
and jell-o shots for everyone bc really she should be at the club
basically everything else goes down the same as in canon, but when everyone comes to, they also have major hangovers from all the jell-o shots
danny is mortified by everything that’s gone down, and is still as lonely as ever… but at least she has her kiddos back
even so, she’s kind of ready for them to go off to uni. surely “graduation” won’t be as dramatic as everything else has been!
