So I’m about 5 ish days on the androderm patches and so far so good.
So far I haven’t had any of the side-effects that a lot of the people who posted on reddit seemed to experience. I don’t get redness around the patch after having it on all day. It doesn’t feel itchy or anything. I think the area feels a bit warm when I put the patch on my leg but that feeling quickly dissipates within 5 or so minutes.
The cons at the moment are that you need to wait 7 days before putting the patch on the same spot and since I have smallish thighs this means I have to get a bit creative with where I place them. You can put them on your arms, back, legs, and chest (basically anywhere there isn’t constant pressure or bone--which basically excludes your butt and ribs). I’ve currently done 4 spots on my legs and am now trying out one spot on my chest. Next is probably the right side of my chest and thigh again? Uh another con may be that the adhesive residue lingers after taking off the patch, but I use a bath brush thing to shower anyway so this isn’t so much an issue for me.
Pros: You get a steady supply of T throughout the week which means you don’t experience that drop in energy towards the end of your shot cycle. It’s pretty painless with the exception of if you pull the patch against the direction the hair on that spot grows. And personally for me the best thing is knowing exactly when I’ll need a new prescription. With the shots, my dose was 35 mg of testosterone cypionate which when administered from a 200mg/mL vial came out to be 0.17mL. The syringes I had were 1mL but it was still awkward to measure out and also since I was getting 1mL vials the timing of when I could fill a new script was off. So overall this is already a better situation for me.
Honestly it’s nice to know that there is for sure testosterone getting into my system every day instead of doing my shot and slowly feeling the decline as the week progressed.
