The book series' that I read as a kid that I think should have movie/show adaptations:
The Kane Chronicles by Rick Riordan- t follows the story of Carter and Sadie Kane, and their discovery that they are the descendants of ancient Egyptian pharaohs and that they are the most powerful Egyptian magicians to be born in hundreds of years. As the Egyptian gods begin to awaken, the siblings must fight the forces of Chaos in order to maintain Ma'at as they are chased by the Egyptiam Magician Government (House of Life) and that the Egyptian Gods Horus and Isis have chosen them as their "hosts" (The series takes place in the same universe as Percy Jackson & the Olympians.)
Fablehaven (and it's sequel series Dragon watch) by Brandon Mull- Siblings Kendra and Seth discover their grandfather is the caretaker of a hidden, magical preserve. When rules are broken and a witch is released, the siblings must brave dangerous creatures to save their family and the enchanted, high-stakes sanctuary.
Beyonders by Brandon Mull- 13 year old Jason Walker is transported from a hippopotamus zoo tank to Syrian, a dangerous fantasy world ruled by the evil wizard Maldor. Jason joins with local rebels and another "Beyonder," Rachel, to find pieces of a magic word needed to destroy Maldor.
The Five Kingdoms by Brandon Mull- 11-year-old Cole Randolph follows his kidnapped friends onto the Outskirts, a dangerous, Magical, inbetween world of five kingdoms. Cole becomes a Sky Raider and , with companions, seeks to overthrow a corrupt High King to free the kingdoms and rescue his friends.
The Underland Chronicles by Suzanne Collins (my favorite)- 11-year-old Gregor falls after his two-year-old sister Boots through the laundry grate of his apartment building into a subterranean world. He's the prophisied "warrior" meant to stop a looming war between humans in Regalia and giant, intelligent creatures like rats, spiders, and cockroaches.
