Space Marine Husbandry Hot Take
Night Lord breeds can really only be used to help stimulate breeds that were pushed too far. They are mutts full stop. If anything they are like the old bully breeds of old, personally it is a miracle that there are owners that are willing to take them in. Personally, I don't want to put the poor Marines (who will certainly outlive me) under any due stress.
Iron Warriors can be a very affectionate Breed. While, given their primogeniture's treatment for them.. they will be hard to open up.. but it can be done. They will need work and constant praise. You do need to monitor them and provide them with optimal stimulation (introduce them to the SIms, or some high tech engineering project)
Salamanders are NOT for the novice owner. They are larger and a tad bit more slower than the average Marine but because of their demeanor they are seen as the "good family pet". While they ARE good protectors, with their weapons, owners have purposely abandoned Salamanders because, their homes have burned down or if they were foolish enough to have a Night Lord housed with the Salamander get a tad bit smarty and got roasted for their troubles.
Rex tries fight Vulkan but is no match for the strength of the Primarch’s spine breaking hugs of affection.
To be honest, this is probably the first time, if not in a long time, that I've ever been asked to write something that ISN'T RWBY. And with a franchise I'm only just barely getting into. Well, with that said, here's a Warhammer 40k shitpost about the galaxy's biggest cinnamon roll and an overly enthusiastic T-Rex.
------------------------------------
Rex: FIGHT ME!
Vulkan: How amusing! A salamander who speaks!
Vulkan, father and primarch of the Salamanders Legion of the Imperium of Mankind, approached the large reptile with open arms. Taking the creature in his embrace, he felt the beast thrash against him. This strange creature, who walked on two legs and not four, continued to shout in low Gothic for the perpetual primarch to engage him in combat. Perhaps this was another test of his father's?
Rex: FIGHT ME!
Vulkan: Gladly!
Vulkan lifted the beast into the air, then threw it into the ground. The beast screamed like a human, yet fought unlike any beast he'd ever encountered. Taking hold of it's jaw, he pulled back, earning yet another scream until the telltale sound of snapping bone caused him to let go. A large beast, like a Salamander, but not quite as sturdy.
Vulkan: How sad it is that the one fascinating creature in this universe, and it is too brittle for me.
Rex: FIGHT ME!
Vulkan red eyes shined with delight. The beast yet lived! Even with his jaw ripped open, he'd managed to return with himself wholly intact! Vulkan held the beast tight and let out a bellowing laugh!
Vulkan: Such a wonderful gift my father has brought me! Such a sturdy beast requires a sturdy name!
Rex: REX HAS NAME!
Vulkan: Rex! King! Ha ha! A fitting name for a Salamander unlike any other!
Too cool for school: The Shadow gets his guy without even looking!
What sort of cultural stuff does each of the species have going on? Thanks!!
Hmm I think, maybe, this is a little spoilery?
You’ll learn some things that are written below in Chapter 2 and 3. The story will naturally take you to all four of the supernatural cities still standing. Chapter 3 will be with the Astraeus where you will be joining in on a festival, Chapter 4 with the Merfok, find out more about the Salamanders in Chapter 5 (but probably won’t be going underground until part II) and the Sylphs in Chapter 8.
Now, I don't really mind spoilers in general, so here's a preview of the cultural setting for the main 4 groups, below the cut for spoilers, if anyone else minds them:
It’s August. Warren and Ali are in Brindleton Bay for Clyde & Steffie’s wedding. Allyn: “- Now I’ve seen it all, Clyde setting doves free at HIS WEDDING?…” Warren: “- Hehe… he looks really happy though” Allyn: “- Yeah, he is! She’s like the best thing that ever happen to him… Steffie can’t be the jealous type though, I’ve seen three blondes here that I know he’s been woohocking…” Warren: “- Carly?… that girl Tessa… and who else?” Allyn: “- Marie, Evan Goldberg’s girlfriend…” Warren: “- Oh! I didn’t know that!” (music)
but seriously.... think about Vulkan designing Saturnine patterns
Vulkan : *looks his little sons with cute round shoulder pads*
Vulkan : aww
Vulkan : *gives them even bigger and cuter shoulder pads*
Salamanders in new Saturnine armour : *happy lizard noise*
