After the Utrom land on Earth looking for integration, a couple of xenophobic movements start acting with violence and Michelangelo’s first public appearance only makes things worse.

This is actually a good story (if you enjoyed volume 4). Michelangelo is my favorite turtle and perhaps, this story really fits him, but sometimes I can feel that it could have been tweaked for any other turtle. In the end I still feel like this is something that could happen to Mikey more than the others.
The story happens shortly after the Utrom’s public landing, and in the time jump of volume 4. It’s more of a political/social commentary story about xenophobia. As it has been clear during volume 4 and Tales volume 2, the Mirage artists were very anti-Bush, and this story brings echoes of 9-11 and Islamophobia. But really is a mix of things, and the story can be applied to the United States at probably any time in history (where there is always a majority that wants to exclude a minority for bigoted reasons). This can happen in any country of course, but what I am trying to say is that, the story didn’t age. Probably because the conflict is fictitious.
Now, the ending of this story has serious ethical problems, but the Turtles in general are not known for their ethical practices, so I guess it is kind of OK.

So, Klag (the Utrom) disguises himself as Jingo and makes peace with the ambassador and then they mind wiped him so that he cannot remember he was kidnapped. And Mikey is OK with all this. Well, in a way I can relate with him, he was being hunted by these people, this seemed like one of the few ways of guarantee some peace. But I find it hard to believe. It kind of throws the good message of the story away. The aliens came and mind wiped us to be at peace with them (in a way). To make things more ironic, the Utroms use their technology to detect weapons of mass destruction in New York (making me think of the Patriot Act). It’s like the intention was to make the Utroms the “illegal aliens”, but in the end they are not that great. So I am not sure what I should think of this story in terms of who is right or wrong. But I enjoyed it.
Unpopular opinion time:
Disney clipped the wings of MoonKnight before it even got going. There has been very little hype for it, Disney released no merch for it through the Disney shop, and the only items you can get are the odd tee-shirt and the Funko series.
Some bullshit.
Guess the creators will have to do it for them. Keep writing, drawing, gif-fing, editing and designing gang.
