From the Halloween Asks:
🍏🤡🔮🎬
🍏- Have you ever gone bobbing for apples?
No, where I live there is hardly any proper Halloween party so we don't have things like that lol
🤡- What’s your biggest phobia?
This one is a hard one cause there are things i don't really know if they label as phobias but I think as of now the most relevant is Dementophobia, linked to my anxiety disorder
🔮- What superstitions do you believe in?
None i can recall at the moment
🎬- What is your favourite Halloween quote/saying from a movie?
-And our credo: "Sic gorgiamus allos subjectatos nunc." "We gladly feast on those who would subdue us." Not just pretty words.- From The Addams Family (1991)
Thanks for the asks!!
Yautja celebrating Día de los Muertos or Day of the Dead with their humans s/o?
I had to do extra research with this one. I know the basics but this holiday is cool so you’ll have to excuse me if I get something wrong.
Unfortunately your SO won’t risk be seen in the large crowds so during the day they choose to observe from the trees nearby.
But they are truly fascinated.
One of the biggest gods in the Yautja pantheon is Cetanu, the death god. So observing a holiday dedicated to the dead is right up that alley.
Your SO will gladly let you paint their face if you offer. It’s a little awkward and their skin is really textured but you make do.
Yautja offerings are normally skulls when it comes to altars to show respect but that doesn’t really fit the day. You’ll have to remind them to bring a small treat or alcohol from their home if they want to make one.
Flower crowns. Specifically cempasúchil.
They’re actually really good at caring for skulls, not that anyone is surprised. They’ll happily help you paint the bright patterns on them. Or you.
While their beliefs of the afterlife may not align quite the same way, they are very respectful.
They’ll watch the parade with you somewhere close but obscure if possible.
By the end of the day, they just hope they made a good impression on your passed family.
bard WoL proposing to Haurchefant?
For the record, I was listening to this while writing the fill!)
For all the things he’s heard of bards and their penchant for telling anything but the truth, Haurchefant finds it difficult to believe the Warrior of Light would kneel before him on a whim. He knows their character better than he knows his own.
“Would you do me the eternal honor of allowing me your hand in marriage?”
He isn’t sure whether he should laugh it off, turn up his usual flirtations and try to convince them to give up on him in such a permanent way. It’s not for any lack of want that he considers refusing─this is a dream come true, Halone’s best blessing yet─but he worries so terribly about their name being bespoiled once joined with his. The surname Greystone is not given to the trueborn children of the Houses.
He’s caught up in his worry (uncharacteristic of him, truly) and barely notices them take a deep breath in before they ask again, voice barely above a whisper, “Would you marry me, Haurchefant Greystone, and allow me the greatest honor of mine life to be by your side ‘till death do us part?”
And he has no reason to say no after that, not when he’s already holding them tightly in his arms with all the affection he can muster (which is a lot. An absolutely terrifying amount, to be sure) as he replies in a single, disbelieving breath, “Yes. For forever and a day, my love.”
He was prepared to spend his life moving from partner to partner, allowing himself that freedom when that of a marriage was not an option, and yet the Warrior had crashed into his life like some sort of uncannily-keen comet and sent all his previously-assumed fears to rest with song and speech alike.
Warrior of Light, they are called, and Haurchefant can see why. They are the most beautiful thing he’s ever seen, so searingly earnest and loving he can see them behind his eyelids.

If you could travel to anywhere, where would you go?
Sarah: Haha! So funny story time… I *almost* went to Canada back when I was 12 but crazy things happened (if you guys are curious feel free to send another ask, it’s one of those hilarious stories I plan to tell my grandchildren someday). So I want to go there properly. And Japan would be fun to visit too. Also I want to hop on one of those trains that take you around loads of countries in Europe once I have enough money.
Toby: I’ve always been more of a cold weather person so I really wanna go to Iceland or Norway. Also I’ve never been to the US so a roadtrip to every state would be awesome! :)
Don't know if this has been asked already (and I know you're super busy too) but do you have any headcanons on the actual wedding between a male WoL and Hien? I saw you had a proposal thing but I can't leave my man out of all these wedding headcanons.
Had Hien not lost his father, he would not be so sure that he’d have been allowed to marry the Warrior of Light. Traditionally, marriages among the ruling lords were arranged by the eldest of the family. Fortunately for Hien (and unfortunately for those praying his bloodline would continue), he is the eldest.
There’s no problem with him marrying a warrior, truly, nor that of the fact that his lover is of the same gender. The thing that would have proven to give his father cause for worry is that he is a foreigner and Doma, being unfalteringly insular, would not take well to their young lord marrying some unknown ijin.
While he makes it clear to the Warrior that his culture and traditions do not need to be upheld for their union, he receives a laugh and a fond kiss. “Yugiri gave me a crash-course,” he explains from his position sprawled across Hien’s legs, “and I think it would be nice. To marry you traditionally. If that’s... okay?” Hien grins brighter than the sun.
If anyone says the acting Lord of Doma is a reasonable man, they would be correct. Sometimes. His wedding is not one of those times.
Between getting fitted for clothes and being shooed out of proximity of preparations when he offers his help, it seems that both he and his lover are well and ready to just take their vows, sip the ceremonial wine, and have a legally-ordained makeout session in some unused storage room in the Kienkan posthaste. The moment they lay eyes on each other in their robes, layers of embroidered fabric rounding out edges and hardening others to fantastic effect, it all becomes beyond worth it.
They take vows the way Hien’s parents had, praying to the Kami and offering forth gifts to bless their marriage, and Hien barely gets through his thanks when the Warrior smiles at him so joyously. They’d forgone visiting one of the few temples still standing after the Garlean occupation in favor of allowing Gosetsu and a few of the more spiritual attendants to preside.
Sharing the ceremonial wine feels intimate despite it bring in full view of all their guests, the flush to the Warrior’s cheeks all the more obvious for it. He’s resplendent, truly, and Hien has never loved another more in his life.
