Here I Go Again!
I'm out here @ the National Western Stock show on a Friday night about to run another 5K! Electric Run Denver! My 4th Race. I'm still slow as Hell and I'm sure the fact that I didn't train for this race or the last one is probably a major contribution to my slowness! I'm out here though and that's all that really matters. I remember when my goal was only to run one race. Now I'm aiming for the Bolder Boulder and the Las Vegas Half Marathon! Two or three years I couldn't see myself running anywhere. I guess folks change and you can teach an old dog new tricks! Time to turn it up a notch though. I'm Overhauling the Formula and going Next Level! I was rebuilding the physical, but Neglecting the Mental! Phase Two in Full Effect, 40 ain't but a year and two weeks away. Time to get Busy!
Master Cleanse 2.0 - The Wrap Up!
The Stanley Burroughs 'Master Cleanse' is Serious Business, So I've Done it Again! 6 month to the day of My last 'Master Cleanse' I've started and completed another 10 day cycle. At first My intention was to do 21 days, but by day three the seed of doubt had crept in on Me and I started to question if I could do the 21 days. On day four I didn't get enough water and lacked the energy to go workout or do much of anything. That's when I mentally scaled it back to 14 days. On day five I made it to the gym and got My workout in. I was feeling Good, but I was still on the fence about the 14 days. I knew it was coasting downhill from there, but to Me it felt as if I wasn't recovering from My workout as well without My protein shakes and supplements. So after a Good long talk with My brother I decided to bow out at 10 days. It was his third time doing it and he told me "it was the hardest one yet." Maybe one day I'll do 14, 21, or even 40, but this time 10 was enough for Me. In 10 days I loss 18 lbs. I'm feeling Great and ready to take my fitness to the next level again. I knew that losing weight was a side effect of the detoxification, but You're also subject to losing muscle mass and I can't afford it at this age.
The hardest part about the cleanse is going on about Your regular life and not eating. I was still faced with all the daily temptation of My life. Making juice, cooking, stopping for Slurpees and 50 cent soft served cones. That's where the discipline comes in. I could use My kid or nieces and nephews coming through as a scapegoat for keeping the cabinets full of snacks, but the truth of the matter is I've lived a lifetime with not the best knowledge of nutrition. I thought this was the master cleanse that would make me kick My "Wheat Belly" habit like the last one make me cut the red meat, pork, and chicken from my diet, but I'm not ready for that yet. I have a Fat Kid's Mentality, a Sweet Tooth, and life is too short not to enjoy what I want, when I want! Truth be told I'm probably gonna eat some meat some time in the future, but I'll practice moderation. Moderation is the key in this equation.
I want to make the cleanse a bi-annual event. So I'll be doing it again on 1-7-14 as open event for anyone wanting to detoxify their system. I'm Not sure if I'll be doing Stanley Burroughs next time or a juice detox, but I'll Definitely keep You all posted. May Alternate them and do Stanley Burroughs at the beginning of the year and a juice detox at the mid way through the year. Let Me Know what YOU Think! I started the year at 256 lbs., I did My 1st Stanley Burroughs 'Master Cleanse' on 1-7-13 and loss 24lbs. in ten days! With No diet in place I put on 8lbs. over the last 6 month. I joined Ballys Total Fitness the last week of May, weight in @ 240lbs. and with 5 weeks of cardio and weight training, I trimmed down to 229lbs.. I started the My 2nd "Master Cleanse on 7-7-13 and in ten days I lost 17lbs. and tipped the scale at 212lbs. as of 7-17-13! That's 81 lbs since February 2012.My goal weight is in the 185 to 190 range and I have a little over a year to get there. I'm getting there Slowly but Surely, but I'm Determined, so Stay Tuned!!
Master Cleanse 2.0 Over!! Getting Ready to Eat!!
Today was a Good Day!! Technically Day 11 since I still have yet to eat any solid food, but I did fill my belly with mad flavorful juice. 4 servings of Fresh Squeezed Orange Juice that tasted Absolutely Marvelous. To top it off juice number 5 was a Carrot, Apple, Tomato, Grape, Strawberry, Watermelon, Mango Medley!! Tomorrow is the Moment of Truth, Real Food!!
Master Cleanse 2.0 - Day 10
Today is the Last day of 2nd My Master Cleanse and I Feel Great!! Especially knowing that in a matter of hours I'll be drinking the freshest orange juice EVER! I know tomorrow will be a day filled with orange juice, but I have know idea what the 1st thing I eat will be. At this point in time there is hours between Me and bed time. So I have at least one more lemonade in My future. Once again, this is one Helluva process and it Not for the weak minded or faint of heart, A true test of Discipline, Will Power, and Mental Fortitude! Truth of the matter is that is is ALL in Your Mind! The lemonade gives You all the calories need to sustain. You're Not Hungry, Your mind is playing tricks on You. I'd have say today was the easiest of them because I knew it was the last. Tomorrow I will hit You with My conclusion and before and after pictures. Thanks for Following and ALL the Love & Support! Master Cleanse 2.0 - Day 9
We're coming to the end of this journey. Just one more day. I'm glad to say my group was sort of a success. We connected and shared some ideas. Supported each other and Now here we are. Day 9 is behind me and I am so ready for day 10 to be over. I'm going to get my oranges in the morning when I get off work and I'm lining up the Groupon eat spots. I want sushi, I want vegetarian, I want a burger, I want all types of things. Moderation is the key. I went to Sprouts and got My fruit and vegetable up and I'm ready to start juicing. I'm putting more salad in my game, I'm gonna try to eat a salad a day. I'm Defnitely going to juice at least twice a day and do one sensible meal. I know how to get the weight off through work. Now I just have to nail this diet. I just drank My tea so I'm about to lay it down and sleep fast. See if I can make this day 10 move faster for me. Goodnight!!
