I think a lot of the complaining about TTRPG systems being too difficult or the rules getting in the way could be resolved by people realizing that what they want is a roleplay forum or a collaborative writing group. if you find the presence of rules and combat mechanics and whatnot to be a drag, I don't think you're actually looking for a TTRPG system. if goddamn D&D 5E or Numenera comes off as needlessly complex and is hampering your enjoyment of the game, consider that you may not actually like TTRPGs. which is completely okay, not every hobby is for everyone. but it's bizarre to see people on this site complaining about the most simple stripped-down rules "ruining the fun" with TTRPGs when the problem could be solved by simply doing something else that actually provides the experience they're looking for, rather than complaining about TTRPGs...being TTRPGs lmao
