Suicidism is how people think the solution to a suicidal person's issues is to let them decide if they really want to die or not???
Like I see so many people say "suicidal people deserve autonomy, let them decide to die if they're absolutely sure that would be the best route for them"
And I agree they deserve autonomy but I don't think we should be saying "hey, kill yourself if you want" because...psychologically speaking, suicidal people have skewed perspectives. If they believe they have no future worth living, that doesn't mean they ACTUALLY have no future worth living. I don't think respecting the autonomy of a suicidal person should include saying "hey you're in your right mind you can decide to die"????
Instead we should be focusing on better healthcare, better support systems, less stigma. We should be stopping suicidal people from being locked away against their will. Not...whatever this "die if youre absolutely sure" mentality is.
This is complicated. Suicidal people should have autonomy, full stop. I do not believe in forcing anyone to do anything as long as they don't harm anyone else - and that includes staying alive. However! As you said, better healthcare, better support systems, less stigma etc. can help someone who's suicidal recover. So can taking their problems seriously and helping them to change their situations that are causing suicidal ideation. So can creating places (similar to psych wards now) for suicidal people to go while allowing them to leave/have autonomy. There are so many better ways to care for suicidal people that can help while still allowing them autonomy.
TLDR: Taking a suicidal person's autonomy will not help, giving them support can.
Edit: Anon sent me a clarifying ask, saying that they were specifically talking about people encouraging the suicide of suicidal people and treating them like a lost cause. In this case, that would be suicidism because suicidal people always deserve support.
the outer wilds characters, Need, fursonas. demand. feldspar is an otter
Why do you use we, and other stuff when referring to your sona if your basically the same person?
...? Well. Because its MY sona, and I tend to heavily rely on characters for my own personality. So just acting on my own and making a sona that isnt based on a character helps me regulate and tell fiction from reality. And Because its kinda funny. I also like to believe we are interchangeable and the same person while looking different. Kinda like.. conjoined twins if you will. And maybe because I need someone to relate to.
fmk: nick and matt. you have to apply all three to just the two of them. i.e. fuck/marry one and kill the other. or fuck/kill and marry.
WHAT DID I EVER DO TO YOU??

Imagine Deon like reader first but the reader is demon. reader always by his side no matter what happens and they not aware of their own feelings until they figure it out when they die.
