This chest of drawers, its form and decoration awash in scrolls and curves, is a masterpiece of mid-1700s English Rococo. The chest’s innovative design is based on a “French commode table” illustrated in Thomas Chippendale’s highly influential pattern book "The Gentleman and Cabinet Maker’s Director," first published in 1754. The quality of the craftsmanship suggests the chest was made by a skilled cabinetmaker; however, it remains unclear if that was Chippendale himself.

The Hepworth Wakefield and Nostell are currently doing an exhibition are currently doing a collaboration with Giles Round to celebrate the Thomas Chippendale (1718-1779) and as part of the exhibit we're collaborating with indie designers and selling some homeware and furniture!!
