The abandoned jeans: part 1 the exhumation
So I can no longer fathom what my original plan was when I first started hacking at these poor jeans a year ago, however I do remember abandoning them because my mother thought the concept sketch was horrendously ugly. Nevertheless I have finally returned to exhume my abandoned denim from the depths of a box stashed under my bed.... And dear god, the horrors.
Here is the state they are currently in;
And here is the progress to date;
I decided to take the concept of darning socks and bastardise it to fix my misdeeds with scissors. I'm going to darn/weave a massive patch on the front of the jeans. Using supplies lovingly provided (raided) from my grandmother yarn collection. The frame I made using an old piece of wood from a bed and a bunch of nails, I then tied it to an ironing bored and skewered the jeans in place using felting needles, to create this, all be it terrifying, impromptu weaving loom.
The making of the weaving loom/jean punishment system;
Setting up the warp thread;
(done using cotton yarn 4ply and 8ply, cotton pearl thread)
Since my mother now approved of the prolimanary sketches she was kind enough to volunteer a pair of her own jeans, so that I could test my concept and figure out exactly how I was going o accomplish my idea, before I got started on the work you see in the images above.
The test subject;
now, I should probably leave you something to dwell on, in the spirit keep the people entertained and all, So...... in the first picture you can see a weird pink stuffy line, this is part of my unrevealed plans the fix the un-photographed crimes I competed to the back of these jeans.
that is all I shall say for now.
well actually if you have any questions (Unrelated to the back of the pants....) please ask in the comments or my inbox, I'm always happy to talk more about my current fixations.
next update will be soon.
