We’ll put it to its own post,
There’s a section of internet users who grew up being told to hate and/or be uncomfortable with certain art, furry art, aeromorphs, etc. and today they define themselves as embracing the “weird”, the thing is, the original artists being mocked were not trying to be weird. They were creating art for themselves. Using their art as an inspiration to “get weirder” only others the original artists further. I know there can be newfound inspiration and confidence in embracing taboo topics, but to lump us all in creates this idea we are different at all.
There’s a section of artists who created art for themselves which expressed their feelings and life, they were mocked for this and torn down. Today, there seems to be a movement centered around creating an aesthetic of these people’s art (and life) which does not seem to care for their actual art. People romanticize how the artist was hated or othered, they do not actually meet the artist on their terms. What you enjoy is not the art itself but the social context. Context which was forced on the artist.
In an attempt to stay kind we will say that it’s okay to want to be weird, but truthfully if you build your aesthetic off of my communities art and life (autistics, schizophrenics, etc.) then simply put I do not respect your artistic opinion. We are not purposely weird, we are not trying to disgust, we are simply living. And if you continue to other our art then you are actively engaging with the same mindset which isolates us further from the world.
