Tolkien Time Warp 2026 FAQs

Hello, and welcome to the first ever Tolkien Time Warp! This event is a celebration of everything time travel, eldritch, and Tolkien. Bring your fix-its, your angst, your fluff, your chaos! Open to all Tolkien fandoms!

To Participate:

Create art, post fanfics, mood boards, epistolary, recipes, filks, or anything that sparks your interest in regards to time loops, time travel, eldritch themes, and Tolkien!

Share your creations using the hashtag #tolkientimewarp2026 and mentioning the blog @tolkientimewarp!

Submit your creation to the Ao3 collection if you wish. The collection will be revealed February 2!

See if any of the prompts spark interest.

Tolkien Time Warp-Lost and Found 

After stealing two Silmarils, Maglor had a feeling that Maedhros, having lost his purpose, might be suicidal. Therefore, Maglor took two Silmarils and fled (one casted into a pit, one remained with him), but somehow ended up switching places with young Makalaurë who had run away from home.

Makalaurë : Ammë is having a baby and Atar has been in the room with her for days, but they won't let Laurë in. And, Maitimo said Laurë can't go out with him. Nobody wants Laurë anymore!

Maedhros: …

Makalaurë: Maitimo is very very bad!!! He wants to abandon Laurë too!!!

Maedhros: …Yes… he is…

Makalaurë: Maitimo is a big idiot!!! Big Big Big IDIOT!!!

Maedhros: Yes, he is.

Maitimo: I can’t understand…Why did Makalaurë run away?

Maglor: …He didn't have the courage to face the feeling of being abandoned. He wants to be found and…Please…Maitimo…Don't leave me alone …

greatly inspired by @theheirofashandfire's masterpiece A Thread Unraveled, I take the bold premise of a Nirnaeth time loop and wonder instead: what if that, but the version we have in canon is the good ending?
