ProYearner! Tom Riddle who always finds a way to walk behind you in the corridor, just far enough away so you don't notice him. Maneuvering in-between everybody to keep up with you and hide himself.
ProYearner! Tom Riddle who would decipher your perfume and/or scented lotion so he could spray it in his single prefect-dorm. Tom, who would lightly dab it on his wrists so he could smell when he dips his head to write in class.

ProYearner! Tom Riddle who would have whole diary entries dedicated to the most minute interaction he had with you that day.

ProYearner! Tom Riddle who would all but physically jump at the opportunity when Professor Slughorn mentions that you may need some additional help in potions.

"Why won't you just understand that all I want to do is create a new world, a better one. One were you, and I will rule together!"
"But I don't want that! In fact, I don't even want to be near you! I'll never join you nor support you. Just give up already and let me free!"
It was another day in the Malfoy Manor where you were captured by none other than the dark lord himself. And another day, where you just hoped to escape or die. Sounds harsh? Listen to your story first...
You have known Tom since your Hogwarts time. You weren't in the same house but in the same year, and even though you weren't close, you did happen to have some lessons together. Never you would've considered him a friend. He was just a classmate who sometimes helped you with potions, and in your free time, you sometimes met him in the libary by coincidence, but that was it.
Yeah, you did find him attractive, but you would have never thought to date him or something like that. After all, he always wanted to be alone and didn't like company. You also preferred being alone, to be honest. Still, he somehow scared you from the beginning. His eyes hold no emotions, but in his actions and his aura, all you felt or saw was pure hate. Tom didn't talk about his past, but he didn't have to for you to figure out that it must have been no good one.
Once you were in sixth grade, attacks on muggle-born students happened, and in the end, Myrtle, who was a friend of yours, was killed.
Yeah, she was very difficult , but she didn't mean any harm towards anyone. Besides that, she was bullied by so many students that you just felt pity for her. You were also bullied in your first years at hogwarts until the students stopped out of nowhere. Since then, you have had problems with being social. Most people who were close with you ended up using you for their own benefits or saw you as their therapist or something like that.
Okay, Myrtle was known for being over sensitive, but still, if people knew she would cry because of mean comments, then why make them? She was in her third year when she died, and she only flew to the girls' toilet because Olive Hornby made fun of her again, which made you more sad about her death. It's not like she chose to have glasses. What was wrong with some people?
In the end, Riddle accused Hagird of being responsible for her death. Only you and Proffesor Dumbledore were convinced that it couldn't have been Hagrid. He was way too nice and kind-hearted for such a terrible crime as murder. Though you didn't think it was Tom either.
But it didn't matter. Hagrid was suspended, and that was the end of it.
Since that time, you didn't trust Tom Riddle anymore. He was the one who made everyone believe that Hagird was guilty. And somehow, since the incident, Tom's aura has become even more intimidating and dark. At least that's how it felt to you...
Once you graduated, you didn't hear of him again, which didn't bother you at all. You lived a peaceful life for a long time. You loved your job. You had true friends. You could do your hobbies. And sometimes you even went on a few dates.
But, if it would have stayed that way, you wouldn't be at Voldemorts' side against your will, would you?
The day that ruined your life was a rainy day. It wasn't too cold nor too warm, so you decided to take a walk in the nearby woods. You loved to spend your time there. All the creatures and plants fascinated you every time without fail. Sometimes, you even saw unicorns, which felt like a miracle everytime Besides, it was one of the last peaceful places left.
War would soon come. It was only a matter of time. Everybody knew that. Maybe you only had two months left, or you still got two years. No one knew except the ones on Voldemorts side.
At that time, you only knew that 'The Dark Lord' was a user of the dark arts. And he hated Muggles and Muggle-Borns. Which was enough for you to despite him. Dark magic was never something you approved, and you didn't care about the blood status of anyone. What mattered to you was always the person.
Usually, the woods were filled with life and joy, but that day was different. The forest looked intimidating from the outside, and you even thought about going back home.
Sadly, you didn't listen to your inner voice. But, it wouldn't have changed your fate...
Once you entered it, you didn't hear the happy cheers of the birds like always. And you didn't see any nifflers running by or other creatures in general. Something was definitely wrong.
But you continued to walk, which would soon turn out to be a fatal mistake. As soon as you reached the river, that was in the forest, you realized why everything was so different than usual.
Death Eaters had chased and killed a Muggle-Born witch with her family. They were on a camping trip, as you could tell from the scenery. But there was still a girl, most likely two or three years old, still alive.
Without a second thought, you hid behind a big tree and some bushes around it.
It seemed like the Death Eaters didn't know what to do with her. Maybe she wasn't part of the plan? At first, you thought that this was not an important mission for them, but then you saw Bellatrix. She was very well known as Voldemorts' right hand. She personally learned dark magic from him and was definitely the most loyal Death Eater there ever was. So this must be a really important matter.
You couldn't stand her guts and wanted nothing more than to just slap her even if you didn't know her in person. Dark magic wasn't something you supported. But still, you couldn't deny that she was dangerous and powerful. Her madness didn't lower that fact.
Since dying wasn't on your to-do lost today, you ran away as fast as you could. Since they were arguing so loud, they didn't hear you. Of course, you wanted to help the little girl, but it was simply impossible to get her without getting caught. And against a whole troup of Death Eaters with one being BELLATRIX, you didn't stand a chance.
But luck wasn't on your side...
As you ran away from the horrible scene, you ran into a Death Eater. They wore their typical black clothes and their mask was on, so you didn't see who it was.
Before you could grab your wand, you heard an angry mumbled 'stupor'. You fell onto the ground and blacked out.
When you awoke, you didn't dare to open your eyes. After all, you got caught by a death eater, so you being alive was a miracle. You didn't hear any voices around you. It also wasn't cold and wet around you, so being locked up in a cellar wasn't the case as well...
Beneath you was a comfortable mattress. It was soft and made you want to fall asleep on it. But what the hell was this all about?!
If you're caught by the bad guys, you normally don't wake up in a soft bed. Did they bring you back home? No, that would be too risky. Maybe they wanted some information, but you weren't really someone well known in the wizarding world.
Patiently, you waited a few more minutes, but still not even the slightest noise. So you opened your eyes.
You were in a dark room. The main colors were black and dark green. Black wardrobes and black walls. The bed was made of black wood, but the sheets were dark green, the big carpet on the floor as well. No one was with you in this room. Desperately, you wanted to know where you were. From the colors, you would have guessed that it was a Slytherin Dormitory in Hogwarts. But kidnappers don't bring you to your old school!
Scared you inspected the room once again. Nothing was familiar...
You took a deep breath and stood up. If you would die, fine, but as long as you had the slightest chance of escape you would take it.
The carpet felt also really expensive beneath your feet. By the way, your kidnappers were so nice to pull off your shoes before laying you into bed...
Everything in this room seemed to be just made for this specific room. Which frightened you even more.
Suddenly, the door was opened, and you saw a pretty woman (walking down the street 🤣) in the doorframe. She was slim and tall, had long blonde hair that was tied up in a bun. Her tight dress was rose gold with a black cloak over it. All in all, she looked like a wealthy woman. Her face was pretty as well, but she looked like she got a dung under her nose. Weird.
"Get up and follow me, My Lady," her cold and clear voice told you.
"Uhm, I'm not your Lad -" but she was already on her way to your goal. You had no clue where it was, but following her was better than sitting around, right?
"I know this must be really confusing, but our Lord will explain it to all of us soon. I was just told to get you and call you that. Now, please, don't make this harder for us than it already is,"
You managed to catch up to her. Now you also saw that her eyes were ice blue. Matching her cold voice.
"Who are you?" you asked softly. Kowing her name could be a good hint to where you were.
"Narcissa Black, soon to be Narcissa Malfoy," the woman didn't look at you for one second, her eyes were focused on the walls. So you were still in the claws of the death eaters. Family Black was well known for their puryity, not a family you would have gotten along with.
The corridor was huge by the way. Dark colors still dominating. Only the chandelier was white. Did this belong to one person or was it the headquarters of Voldemort and his minions or what? Instead of getting awnsers you only got more questions as you walked after Narcissa.
Downstairs. A few steps upstairs again. Left. Left again. Right. Straight forward. The second right.
Was this a house or a Labyrinth?! How were you supposed to find your way in here? You even got lost in Digeon Ally!
But after what felt like an internity, you both reached a large black table, people gathered around it. A tall man stood up from his chair as he heard you two enter. As he turned around, you saw your old classmate Tom Riddle, but if he was here, he wouldn't help you. If he became a death eater, he was behind after everything you swore to fight. He wasn't an ally or a friend anymore. He was a danger and a threat to you and many innocent people who weren't here.
You tried to hide behind Narcissa. After all, she was the only person who seemed at least a little trustworthy, and she was another woman. Maybe she knew how unsafe you felt because mostly men were in this room. The only other woman was a mad Bellatrix, never ever you would trust her.
"Ah, there they are. Come in, " Tom spoke. His voice had changed, and it was more intimidating than it was before.
You didn't move an inch, but Narcissa started to move forward. Being all alone without someone to hide behind was more scarry, so you followed her, but you were still behind her.
"Oh no, don't be afraid. No one here will even dare to glare at you, my dear. They knew the punishment would be worse than death," You couldn't recognize Tom anymore. The hate in his presence, his voice, his appearance, everything scared you. Back in school, you didn't fear him, at least not for his house or his roots. Just because he was a Slytherin, it didn't mean that he was evil, but now? His opinions were completely different than yours, and this was not a stupid novel of the stereotype enemies to lovers cause he was just plain and simple wrong with his thoughts on muggleborn or muggles in general.
[Funfact: I don't get the hype on this topic, see, for being autistic I got bullied for many years and than reading a story about two people hating each other's guts and than falling for each other just feels wrong for me, you can read whatever you want ofc, this was just my unpopular opinion]
Still, you hid behind Narcissa, but as she tried to go towards a man with long blonde hair and her crazy sister, you felt completely defenseless. The only person you used to know seemed to be the head of everything here, and Narcissa wasn't at your side anymore. Sadly, Tom saw your fear. He went towards you and pulled you in an unwanted hug. Softly, he petted your hair and whispered sweet nothings. As soon as this horror hug ended, he smiled at you and turned towards the others.
"If anything should happen to her, everyone will be held responsible! You know the punishment, now go! We are done here!" As the last word fell, everyone disapparated, and only you and him were left.
And then you realized it. If he could order the death eaters around, he must be the dark lord himself. Tom Riddle, your old classmate, was Voldemort.
You backed away from him but regretted it soon. Tom didn't take rejection good...
"Why are you scared? I won't harm you. In fact, I am the one who has kept you safe since I saw you!"
"Are you mad?!" You yelled back into his already mad face. Wrong choice again. In full rage he stormed through the room and kicked everything in his way. Chairs and even the whole table practically flew through the room.
"Who protected you from those bullies back in Hogwarts?! Who kept you safe from all filthy boys who just wanted to break your heart?! Who killed the mudblood Myrtle so you were safe from her?!"
So Dumbledore was right... Tom opened the chamber of secrets all those years ago. And killed your friend.
"Myrtle was my friend! I never asked for your personal protection, Tom!"
Somehow that calmed him down! Yep, that man was a complete psychopath...
"But you didn't have to, my dear", he ran towards you and cupped your cheek while looking into your eyes.
"Keeping you safe will always be my priority. I loved you the moment I laid eyes on you and I knew that I would always protect you. Look around, here in our mansion you will always be safe. No one will ever harm you again. We'll be safe here! After I've won this war you and I can live here in peace. Just imagine it, I'll make us so many horcruxes that we won't ever die. Here we will raise our kids and they'll never go through the pain of being an orphan like I was", pain and hate was in his voice at the simple thought of 'death' and 'orphan'. But having a family with this insane man? Hell nah, you'd flee the moment you got the chance!
"I know now this is scary for you, and you might think of escaping, but this whole mansion is surrounded by death eaters, the moment you even think of fleeing you'll be brought to your room and trust me, I know how to punish or torture someone so that no mistace will ever happen again",
And that's how you ended up here. Behind you was the man that claimed to love you fast asleep. Yet he was the one who made you go through all of this. Most traumas you had were because of his action. If this was love, than you could already drown in it.
You had no idea if you could ever escape or if even the try of escaping was a good idea. This man wasn't well known for his kindness or his patience.
Maybe playing along would make it easier, but would your mental health take that well? Or would that make him do worse things 'out of love'?
Still, you rethought your first actions towards Tom, trying to figure out what made his obsession start. Was it your look? Your hairstyle? Your body language?
Harrison noticed Tom was distracted. He kept looking at his phone and smiling. Usually business stuff wasn’t that exciting so it must be that girl. Harrison saw how you had smiled at Tom and approached him at the pub. Your confidence had intrigued Tom and after talking for a couple of hours, you exchanged numbers. Harrison didn’t know what you had talked about but you knew that this was a real connection. Tom was devastated when you went back to the states. His plans to visit were cancelled due to the pandemic but thank god for phones. You two had not stopped talking in months. Tom was the happiest he had been in a while.
I struggled to read the book in my hand, as i got the feeling someone was staring at me, a feeling that made me want to throw my book as a distraction and run out of the library as fast as my legs could go. You can’t I thought, so I had no other choice than to try and ignore the feeling, and hope it would disappear.
Minutes went by, and I still had the feeling, it didn’t make sense, who would stare at someone for so long? As i looked around the library, I found it to be almost empty...huh...Am I just being paranoid?
As the thoughts and questions flew around my mind, a big heavy book slammed down on the table right in front of me, I jumped at the sudden sound, and soon after heard the librarian angrily hush at the noise.
I looked up, trying to find the source of my far-too-fast beating heart. Felix, my friend since first year, stood there with an annoyed and tired expression. I sent him a glare as he pulled out a chair next to me and sat down with a thump.
“Rough day?” I asked quietly. He simply looked at me, his face showing no sign of playfulness or the bright smile he usually carried. He was clearly worn out.
“You have no idea” He leaned back in his chair, rubbing his hands in his face and curly light brown hair.
Felix is in year six just like me, He is popular with the girls, a thing i found amusing, since my dear Felix was gay, He has yet to come out, I have encouraged him plenty of times, but he refuses, he has also yet to tell his parents might I add, so I do understand him.
I looked around the room once more before continuing with my book. I didn’t get far before I was disturbed yet again.
“Why is Tom Riddle staring at you?”
Felix asked.
Tom Riddle? Why in Merlin’s name would Tom Riddle be staring at me? I have never done anything to him, I’ve never been rude to him or anything. Oh maybe he remembers that one time I accidentally bumped into him in the hallway, is that why he’s here? To kill me?
A nudge to my arm ripped me from my paranoid thoughts. I looked at Felix, he was hinting for me to look somewhere “Look over there, he’s been staring ever since i came in” chills ran down my spine as i realized he had been the one staring at me, he’s the uncomfortable feeling...
“Should we leave?” I asked, my voice just above a whisper, in fear anyone other than Felix was going to hear.
“Yeah, It’s almost time for dinner anyway, we should get going” Felix said, his voice a little louder at the end, so it didn’t seem like we were leaving because of Tom.
I was quick to shut my book and get up, Felix doing the same. As I turned away from the table to walk to the door, my eyes found the ones of none other than Tom himself. Our eye contact lasted for a good 5 seconds before Felix grabbed my arm, pulling me with him out the door.
“Bloody hell, he’s really hot but he’s just so creepy”
I chuckled at Felix, he’s right though. Tom really is hot, he’s the hottest guy in the whole school. He was known for being the prince of Slytherin, and adored by girls in every year. He was also known for being a very reserved don’t-look-at-me-or-I’ll-kill-you kind of guy.
I’ve never really spoken to him, not until recently where i had forgot my potions book, so he let me share his with him during the class, we had talked a little there, and i acually quite enjoyed it. I wonder if he even remembers....
I shook off the thought as we arrived at The Great Hall, sitting down for dinner. Felix and i were joined by some friends and as they started talking, i found myself zoning out while looking into a pair of dark eyes from the Slytherin table.
---
Oh shit
I’m late.
I ran through the hallways of the castle, trying to navigate my way, my only source of light being the tip of my wand and the moonlight seeping through some passing windows.
I had been reading next to the big tree by the lake, as i did sometimes, and found myself losing track of time in the beautiful scenery, not even noticing how dark it had gotten.
I was almost there, I was almost back at the common room, I turned the corner and almost fell as I hit something hard, a pair of arms wrapped tightly around me, saving me from falling. I dropped my wand, making it hard for me to see the person I had run into.
“You know it’s not a good idea to run around the castle at night, especially when you can’t see”
A deep voice said. That voice, I recognized it, but from who?
A sudden light from a wand made it possible for me to see, the arms wrapped around me belonged to none other than Tom Riddle.
My eyes widened a bit in fear, as I quickly stepped back, creating a little distance between us. I quickly got my wand from the ground.
“I’m sorry, I was out and I didn’t realize the time”
I explained myself.
“You know, breaking a rule like this could cost you at least 15 points”
I didn’t know what to say, I just looked down in shame.
“I’ll let you go this time”
I looked at him in surprise. Did he really say he would let me go?
“Thank you”
I didn’t hesitate to try and go by him, wanting to get out of that place fast. It’s not that I didn’t like Tom, I did. It’s just that I was lucky this time, and i didn’t want to push my luck by starting to say stupid things as I usually did when I got nervous.
“Wait a minute”
He grabbed me by the arm as i walked past him, i looked back at him. Did he take back what he said? Was he going to punish me? Oh no
“Come here! Quick!” He pulled me with him behind a pillar, pushing me up against the wall. His body was pressed up against mine, his height easily towering over my shorter one, shielding my eyes from whatever we were hiding from.
Tom put a finger against his lips, signaling for me to be quiet. I almost held my breath, as I caught a small sight of a figure walking past us in the hallway. Even as the figure got further and further away, Tom was still pressing up against me, sending small unwelcomed butterflies in my stomach.
He looked from the hallway to me, our faces were close, so close our noses would touch if we leaned in a little closer.
“Did you ever find your book?”
He asked, pulling me from my little moment.
I furrowed my eyebrows “What?”
His smirk remained, “Your potions book darling, did you find it?”
Oh, so he did remember.
I gave him a small smile. “Yeah, I found it. You really remember that?”
A small chuckle made it from his lips, making me shiver, a different kind of shiver, a good shiver. “Of course I remember, I haven’t stopped thinking about you since”
“Oh really?”
“Really. Something about you has captured my attention, it might be your beauty, or maybe it’s the way you move, or your voice. I think it might be all of it”
He confessed.
I thanked the heavens it was dark, making it harder for him to see the blush on my cheeks.
With his finger, he lifted my head more up, leaning down and placing his soft lips on mine. A kiss that sent good shivers down my spine, and making the butterflies in my stomach go crazy.
Sofia glanced at her watch, sighing as she saw the hands move closer to four o’clock. At this rate, she and Tom would be very late to the viewing party her family was hosting for the World Cup. It was the final, and Mexico had miraculously made it through. The game against Brazil was to be momentous and extraordinary. Mexico, having never won a World Cup before, was quite anxious about the outcome. Soccer fanatics were partying prematurely, the faith in their team was astonishing. When Mexico beat Germany in the semi-finals, Sofia had been one of the first to jump out of her seat with tears streaming out of her large, brown eyes. Her very large and joyful family partied the night away, happy that their country managed to pull through. Her uncle Ignacio, in his drunken haze, had promised to tattoo Jenni Rivera onto his thigh if Mexico won, and proclaimed that he would host a viewing party on his lands. Of course, he was held to his word and rented out a large projector and screen for the game. The entire family was to show up, and Sofia did not want to miss any of the game or food. Yet, as she stood at the bottom of the staircase, purse in one hand and cooler in the other, she could not help but wonder if she would have to miss part of it. Tom was taking his sweet time getting dressed and Sofia was close to losing it. Every time Sofia’s family invited Tom and her over, he would become an adorable, nervous mess. He took ages picking outfits and fixing his hair, and Sofia had to remind him that her family loved him, even if his Spanish wasn’t the best. They loved that he tried and appreciated their culture. Right now, however, Sofia was not having it, she was going to make it to the party on time. She had waited her whole life to watch Mexico play a World Cup final and Tom’s fashion dilemma was not going to cause her tardiness.
“Tom!” Sofia shouted up the stairs, her foot tapping anxiously on the floor. Tom peeked his head down, a surprised look adorning his face. Sofia felt her eyebrows raise and her jaw drop as she took in his face. No wonder Tom was taking ages to get ready, she thought, her head shaking and a smile gracing her lips. Tom, on his quest to be loved and accepted by Sofia’s family, had taken it upon him to paint his face. The green, red, and white stripes on his smooth face were a stark contrast to his usually pale skin. Sofia put her belongings down and made her way upstairs, all the while wondering how on earth she got so lucky to have Tom in her life.
Tom stood at the top of the staircase, feeling his stomach clench with nerves as he saw Sofia’s reaction. Perhaps he had gone too far, but then again, Sofia’s family were huge soccer fans and always went all out. Nerves rising, Tom closed his eyes and held his breath as he waited for Sofia to comment. He opened his eyes at the sound of Sofia’s laughter, gazing into her eyes as she poked his cheek. “Tom!” She exclaimed, beaming up at his timid smile, “my family is going to love this!”
Letting out a soft laugh, Tom asked, “are you sure?” The last thing he wanted to do was offend her family or worse, look stupid.
“Of course not! You’re showing spirit and pride in our team! Now let’s go before we’re late!” With those words, Sofia grabbed Tom’s hand and tossed him the car keys. “Grab the cooler on your way out, mi cielo.”
Tom grinned as he grabbed the cooler, no matter how many times she called him mi cielo, it always made his heart throb. He was completely, sincerely in love with Sofia. Her tan skin, long, dark hair, thick eyebrows, and dimpled smile drove him insane. He loved her barely noticeable accent when she spoke English and the way she turned to Spanish when she was frustrated or excited. He especially loved the way she was patient with him when he tried to speak Spanish or when he tried to immerse himself in her culture, no matter what, she was always there for him.
As Sofia and Tom pulled into her uncle’s house, Tom grew increasingly nervous. Although he had met her family countless times before, this would be the first time he met some of her aunts, who were often working or busy at other family gatherings. He wanted to make a great first impression on them, considering how much Sofia complained about them being judgmental. Sofia glanced at him, and sensing his worry, reached out to grab his hand. She gave it a tight squeeze and pulled it up to her lips. Giving it a light kiss, she whispered, “It's okay Tom, they’ll love you.” With that, Tom unbuckled his seatbelt and stepped out of the car, stretching, he made his way over to Sofia’s door.
However, he had barely taken a few steps when a large blurb crashed into him, causing him to fall flat on his face. Groaning as he rubbed his jaw, Tom looked up to see a massive brown dog wagging its tail at him.
“Firulais! Dios mio, ya lo tumbo!” He heard a feminine voice cry out.
“Aver, aseguren de que este bien!”
Suddenly, a small woman with a tight bun and a Mexico jersey was at his side. She raised her hand to his jaw and said, “Miguel por tu culpa! Mira, tu perro lo tumbo y esta todo rojo de su cara, y tan guapo que es!”
Tom smiled, guapo, he understood that much. Although his entrance was far more dramatic than he expected, at least they found him handsome. “I’m okay, estoy bien.” He said, getting up from the ground. He extended out his hand to give the woman a handshake, but she quickly pulled him in for a hug and kissed his cheeks.
“Mijo, perdon por el perro, espero que estes bien,” she stated, moving to make way for the rest of the family to greet him.
“Tia, no pasa nada. Tom es Spiderman, un golpe pequeño no es nada para el,” Sofia exclaimed, reaching over to ruffle his hair.
“Bueno mija, vengan. La comida ya esta lista y el partido va a comenzar en cualquier rato.”
Tom grabbed Sofia’s hand and they made their way over to the rest of the family. Tom felt considerably less nervous than when he arrived. As he greeted Sofia’s family, he realized how friendly and loving they were. They instantly accepted him and even made fun of him when he fumbled with his Spanish. Tom grabbed a plate of carne asada and made his way over to the seating area, even if he wasn’t Mexican, he was rooting for their win.
As the game went on, Tom grew more and more invested. It was the last five minutes of the game, and Mexico was tied with Brazil. They needed one more goal to be world champions. Tom bit his lower lip, sweat grazed his brow and his hands were tapping on his knee. The game was at its most pivotal moment and the suspense was intense. Sofia’s family hardly dared to breathe or blink in fears of missing anything. With 30 seconds to spare, El Chicharito managed to snag the ball. As he ran closer to the goal, screams and shouts were heard all around, and Tom found himself screaming the loudest. El Chicharito quickly kicked and Tom felt his stomach clench, after what felt like an eternity, the ball soared into the goal.
Tom leaped up out of his seat, “we won!” He shouted, grinning at Sofia. “We won, we really did that!” He hugged everyone around him and jumped around. Tom could not contain his excitement, and it showed.
“What do you mean ‘we’ won?” Sofia’s cousin Daniel asked, smirking as he looked over at Tom.
“I… I mean..” Tom trailed off, feeling his cheeks flush.
“Daniel no seas pendejo, Tom es uno de nosotros!” Sofia’s tia Maria scolded him. Turning to Tom with a bright smile she said, “Tom, ya eres de nuestra familia, asi que no le hagas caso a Daniel, ya eres Mexicano.”
Sofia translated for Tom, and Tom felt indescribable happiness at her words, he was truly touched. He loved Sofia, and for her family to accept him as one of their own meant that he was that much closer to being able to propose to her. Swooping down, he pulled Sofia in for a sweet kiss.
Prompt: ‘my current partner is a huge asshole and i need a reason to break up with them so will you pretend to be my possessive and violent ex’
A/N: So, I took a different route with this one and tried a mob Tom fic. It’s alright I suppose, just felt like doing something I haven’t before. Enjoy.
You were rather frustrated. Your current boyfriend was splayed out on your couch, asleep. The beer that you knew must have been in his hand knocked over on your hardwood floor. Take out containers littered the table, and your cat was eating out of one of them.
This was not the first time this had happened. In fact the last time you found him like this you told him to get lost and not find his way back. However, he was rather determined to stay with you, so he managed to sweeten his way back in every time.
And you let it happen, because he was pretty sweet and you didn’t exactly want to hurt him. But he was rather gross once he settled in. Even if he did clean up nice. And sure you could very easily get rid of him. But you were afraid he’d think you were joking. Even if you could kill him in more ways than one without leaving a trace that you did it.
That was just an occupational hazard of yours for those around you. It wasn’t your fault you got mixed up with the mob. It was all your friend Tom’s fault. You’d follow him anywhere and when he’d taken over the business, well you were right beside him, Harrison right with the two of you. However, the man asleep on your couch had absolutely no clue about your real job.
Deciding that you weren’t going to deal with this mess, you went right back out your door. You found yourself at Tom’s. You strolled right in, the two bodyguards posted at the door nodded to you.
“Evening boys,” You greeted, barely offering them a glance.
“Evening boss,” they responded. Tom might be their actual boss, but you were the one in charge of them. You were the one given the orders to send them out, what to do, when to do it and how. You were the one handling the dirty work Tom didn’t want to handle, the kind he didn’t find worth his time but knew that whoever it was needed a more special touch than just his regular guys.
“Tom?!” You called out, into the larger than average home.
“What are you doing back so soon, love?” He asked, exiting his kitchen.
“Gary did it again. I can’t take it, Tom. I’m gonna kill’im. But he’s too nice!” You ranted on about the mess he’d made, how you’d probably get home and he’d be gone and the mess would still be there, on top of your cat probably having the shits just to add to your problems.
“I’ve told you before,” Tom started, wrapping an arm around your shoulders and starting to guide you upstairs. “I can take care of it.”
You groaned. “I don’t want him dead, Tom. I could do that myself if I wanted. Just want him to stop comin’ around after I’ve sent him off.”
Tom stopped in front of the door to his bedroom and leaned against it. “You know, I’ve seen you be the nastiest bitch, yet you can’t get rid of a guy that’s nice? You must have lost your touch.”
You scoffed and punched his shoulder.
He didn’t hesitate to grab your wrist. “Don’t-”
“Wait!” You said, not caring about the empty threat he was about to place upon you, knowing he would never think about hurting you. “I’ve got it!”
Tom sighed and released you. “What brilliant plan have you devised now?”
“Well, Gary doesn’t know what I do for a living, right? But I’m sure he knows about you, and not from me, who doesn’t?”
Tom wasn’t following, his eye brow was arched as he watched you closely. You were incredibly sexy when you had a good idea. So happy, something he liked seeing on you with how rare it was in this line of business.
“What if you came over and pretended to be like my crazy possessive and violent ex?” You were smiling so wide at him, hoping he’d go for it.
He thought over your words. “Is that what you think of me?”
You rolled your eyes. “You missed the point, and no I do not, Thomas. I just think you’d be really good at pretending to be. You already shoot all the guys dirty looks if they even cast a glance my way. You’d be great at it.”
“What if I don’t want to pretend to be your ex?” He asked. “You know I’d much rather be with you.”
You blushed. You never really took those words of his seriously. Because even when he said them, there were still other women in his life, there were still times when you knew he could never possibly love you. That you couldn’t have a normal life together. Even if you wanted to be with him. “Tom-”
“Yeah, I’ll do it. But if I do, you’re going to sit down and listen to what I have to say about you and you believe me this time.” He held his hand out to you.
You took it and shook, sealing your deal. You were rather hoping what he’d have to tell you would be in your favor. Hand shakes were binding between the lot of you. But, having a normal boyfriend was something you rather enjoyed, it was like living in a cute little fantasy. One where you could imagine a frilly white wedding, and a house and three kids. Not the kind where you would constantly worry your husband was cheating on you, or the safety of your children. You pushed those thoughts away, you had to focus. “I’ll come up with a plan tonight and let you know in the morning.” You eagerly kissed his cheek. “Thank you, Tom.”
He shook his head at you. “Just don’t forget about the other end of the bargain.”
You nodded, “Of course. Goodnight, thank you for letting me stay the night.” You started off towards one of the many spare bedrooms.
“I’ve told you, anytime, Y/N.” He watched you go, rubbing the back of his neck.
The following morning you sat down with Tom and told him your plan. Everything was set, it was going to finally get Gary out of your life without you having to be an absolute bitch to him. Tom got the privilege of doing that.
“You ready?” You asked meeting Tom in front of your apartment building. You’d already confirmed that Gary was still there, so all you had to do was show up and let the fun begin.
You started bickering at the end of your hall, well more like yelling at each other. You didn’t care if your neighbors heard, you could easily tell them all the truth. “Go home, Tom!!” You shouted right outside your door. You fought with your keys to get them in the lock but he turned you around and your back hit the door. Just enough to make a noise, but not harsh enough to hurt you.
“Don’t fucking talk back to me!” He growled.
You got your door open and stepped back into your place as he followed you in. “Get out,” You shouted, shoving at him.
“Y/N?” You could hear Gary over your shoulder, somehow still on your couch and sounding groggy.
Tom grabbed your wrist and your chin smooshing your cheeks. “I fucking-”
“Hey!” Gary yelled, scrambling off the sofa. “Let go of her!”
“Who the fuck is this?” Tom asked, quickly. The gun he kept in the back of his pants was now pointed at Gary.
Gary held his hands up and took a step back, “W-whoa! H-hold on there-”
“Tommy please, please don’t worry about him, he-he’s just a friend.” You lied, sounding so innocent, tears welled in your eyes.
Tom’s eyes narrowed at the man before he cut them at you. He tsked, “Baby, you know better than to lie to me.”
“Y/N, who is this guy?” Gary asked, the fear in his voice made him sound 12.
“My-my ex,” You answered, making Tom’s hold on you a bit tighter as he tugged you closer to himself.
“Your what?” Tom asked, his tone threatening. “Maybe you should properly introduce me, darlin’. You know I love when you tell people what you are to me. What I’d do to anybody that even looks at you thinking they could love you better than I do.”
You whimpered, shrinking into your shoulders. You glanced over at Gary, you wished you could have laughed. He looked like he was about to piss himself. “Gary this is, Tom Holland… I-I’m sure you’ve heard of him…”
Gary swallowed thickly, knowing exactly who the man in front of him was now.
“Gary you should go. Really, T-Tom’s right. I’m his girl, and it was really a mistake to run off on him… but this isn’t working and I don’t want him doing something to you. It’s better this way.”
Gary could only stare at you. “You don’t possibly expect me to just leave you him with this crazy ass-”
Tom clicked the safety off his gun. “What was that, mate?”
Gary took a shallow breath.
“Gary, go! Leave for good please! I’ll be alright but you won’t be if you don’t leave!” You told him, praying he’d finally get out.
“Yeah Gary,” Tom added. “Get out.”
He scrambled to get his things before he was out the door, not even so much as putting his pants on.
You waited for the sound of the stairwell door at the end of the hall to close before you released a sigh of relief.
Tom finally released you and put the safety back on his gun before replacing it in his pants. “I didn’t hurt you, did I darling?” His hand was so gentle on your chin, a complete 180 from how it was before.
You smiled softly at him, “I’m alright Tom, really. I’m never going to be able to repay you. That was brilliant.” You didn’t even hesitate to hug him, something very rare for the two of you.
“Come on, Y/N,” He responded, arms wrapping around you. “You know I’d do anything for you. You’re my girl.”
You glanced up at him, “Tom, do you really-”
“Yes,” He answered before you could even get the question out. “It’s my turn now. I couldn’t wish for someone better than you to be by my side. I’m tired of not having this with you. You’re the only girl I want, alright? Will you please just be with me already? We’re perfect for each other and you know it as well as I do.”
You sighed. “I know all that… it’s just, sometimes it’s nice to have a break from the mob life. To think about having a normal life, with a husband and kids and being safe…”
Tom brushed a strand of your hair behind your ear. “Sweetheart, there’ll never be a safer place for you than with me. We can have a life together, maybe it won’t fully be conventional, but I’m willing to do what it takes to give you everything you want.”
“And what happens when you don’t want to anymore? What happens when you have to go off to some club and there’s other girls there and they’re way more attractive than me and they’re all over you-”
He laughed, “You’re taking the not in a committed relationship Tom and not getting the I want to be with you and only you Tom. Y/N, I want this with you. That’s it, alright? I’d never commit myself to you and do something to hurt you like that. You just have to trust me. Stop thinking about everything else. Do you want to be with me, yes or no?”
You knew he was right. You were being unfair, and trying to talk yourself out of something you really wanted because you were afraid. But from the determined look in his eyes you knew how much he wanted this. You nodded, “Yes I want to be with you.”
Tom smiled and pulled you in for a kiss.
