So top 5 female characters in Tolkien would be hard, because there's so many to love and all for different reasons that it's difficult to rank!
So I'll go with thesis celebration items, as that day is fast approaching (thank god!)
Do a lot of cosplay sewing that I've been putting off. I've mostly been doing sewing inside my comfort zone recently, as I haven't had the mental bandwidth to try learning a bunch of new techniques since the summer. But I think once my thesis is done, I'm going to branch out a little. I'm going to make Éowyn's green dress from the Two Towers, which has some techniques to it that I'm not as familiar with.
Write more consistently!! My brain has been brimming with writing ideas, but since I write science every day right now, it's been difficult to have energy left for creative writing/fan works. I'm really excited to have the space to write daily.
Swim every day. I'm moving close to the ocean and I'm planning to go in every day, rain or shine, because I really love water. I know that's a little crazy, but you know.... I'm a little crazy sometimes.
Do more fantasy/cosplay photography and travel to local places that look like Middle Earth to do it. I have a tonnnnn of cosplay photoshoot concepts in mind, and I'm really excited to have the space and time to execute them. (Winter in Rohan??!?)
Go where I like between the hours of 8am-6pm. Part of what's been difficult about my PhD is that my movements and whereabouts have been tightly controlled by my advisor (this is NOT normal, btw, for the type of program I'm in. Usually grad school has a fair bit of freedom and schedule flexibility. The flip side of it is that it's fairly normal in grad school to have to work overnight or weird hours if the experiment requires it. And we are absolutely still expected to do that, and I've done it A LOT for my project. Still, she gets upset if you aren't at your desk or she can't find you during working hours. There's no reason why she needs to know where I am at all times besides the fact that she's extremely controlling). I'm very excited to be rid of that and just go where I please. (at least until I get a job, but I'm hoping said future job will have working hours more for practical, organizational reasons and not "because I need to know where you are!" reasons)
