Moving our Torah scroll from Genesis to Leviticus always feels like a magical journey to me because it is. I think about the number of people who have read these text over the years and what they were thinking when they read them. I think about being in community as these words are read aloud. I also love my private time with the scroll and I love what pops out as I move from Genesis to Leviticus. Today it was the Song of the Sea and my eyes immediately went to עזי וזמרת יה ויהי־לי לישועה ‎God is my strength and song God is my salvation The words I needed to see as we move into our holiest day of the year.
