is it just me or is there kind of a trans metaphor for Ed in season 2? Ed was so desperate for change. So that he could be himself and feel comfortable and safe for who he is. Then that was threatened. Ed had been so close to freedom and feeling comfortable with himself only to have that taken away by Izzy and the toxic preconceived concepts of what a "man" should and shouldn't be forced on him and to feel safe again forced himself to conform.

Summary:
Jim fidgeted where they stood, looking down at where Oluwande held their hands before meeting Olu’s eyes.
“Roach then?” Jim raised one of their eyebrows.
“Roach.” Olu shrugged.
Jim's face softened, a grin playing at one corner of their mouth. “Guess it’d only be, like, the fifth most dangerous thing I’ve done this year.”
Also I need to just freak out about my favorite OFMD headcanon for a sec: Trans man Edward “Blackbeard” Teach!!
Just the idea that the most powerful, feared and admired man on the seven (7) seas is a trans man fills my heart with electric joy.
I also like viewing his character from the aspect of trying to hypermasculinize himself (especially as Blackbeard) for the sake of passing and because of societal expectations for men to be masculine at all times, even if that isn’t who they are.
What I love even more about that is him meeting Stede and learning that you can still be a man and
Be emotional
Like things society deems to be “feminine” (fashion, fine clothes, etc.)
It’s something that Ed needed to hear, especially after years of having Izzy by his side, spewing toxic masculinity and unhealthy coping mechanisms whenever Ed had a problem.
What is Transfem Ed Week? Transfem Ed Week is a fanweek for Our Flag Means Death for fanwork centering around Edward Teach written as a transfeminine person (which can include a variety of gender identities and pronouns!).
When is it? The first day will be June 26th and the last day will be July 2nd! But feel free to use the prompts and hashtag after the event is technically over!
What kind of content can I make? I don't write fic or create art. That's okay! I encourage all types of creativity! Fics and art are amazing, but so are gifsets, meta posts, playlists, cosplay, etc!
Can I make NSFW work? Sure! Just make sure everything is appropriately tagged!
Where do I upload my work? You can use the hashtags #TransfemEdWeek and #TransfemEdWeek2022 to get reblogged or submit your work to this blog! The ao3 collection is TransfemEdWeek
I have another question! Cool, I probably have an answer, you can send an ask to this blog or to my main @lucius-spriggs
A huge shoutout and thank you to @morganismoss @gardener-dyke @idyllic-idioms @weirdgirlcore and the rest of the transfem-ed-agenda thread on our discord server for the inspiration and ideas!
