Indigenous transgender youth and adults across the country face some of the highest rates of homelessness, leading to unsafe situations, depression, and often suicide. Housing is the most critical issue facing our community, and with your help we can provide housing for the most vulnerable in the Native community: transgender and Two Spirit people. By raising the funds to purchase a communal home for our affected community, we can create a system of community care and mutual aid that will change countless lives. Funds raised here will also enable us to create a garden system on the property, allowing us to ease the burden of food instability. Additionally, we will host classes to train members of our community to run their own self-sufficient businesses. Our end goal is not to make money as a halfway house, but rather to support our community members to achieve their goals as transgender and Two Spirit individuals. We wish to raise up proud community leaders despite the extreme degree of transphobia faced by our transgender and Two Spirit family. Funds for this effort are needed as soon as possible. The sooner we are able to purchase a property, the sooner we can start caring for each other and building a strong community. However, the amount is no small feat, so we plan to purchase in the next two years at the very latest. No matter what, this will happen. But to build a better future for Indigenous people across the Midwest, we need your help! Please share!
