TRANS STRAWHATS (nami zoro luffy and usopp) YAPPING below the cut cuz ive been thinking about this since earlier today :3
nami: trans woman (she/her). i don't have any proper backstory/reasoning for this but if i do make some kinda backstory i kinda wanna tie it into her experience in arlongs crew in some way but idk.
zoro: trans man (he/him). i saw a tik tok comment or smth suggesting the idea of zoro and kuina being the same person, and her death being symbolism for him finally accepting himself. i LOVE this and i would love to expand on it more somehow but im not quite sure how yet. Aggressively binded for a long time until someone (maybe nami or/and chopper) found out and was like STOP THAT 😨 and showed him the wonders of trans tape instead. it's actually extremely impressive how he was already an infamously skilled swordsman for so long BEFORE he switched to tape cuz HOW were you FIGHTING in a BINDER???
luffy: trans man (he/any). probably no specific long backstory, he just realized one day when he was younger that he's a boy, shrugged and left it at that. he didn't even know transgender was a word when he did, and doesn't really care about labels aside from "i'm a boy 🤷♂️". experiences very little dysphoria and doesn't intend to get surgery of any sort until MAYBE like reallyyyyy far into the future. doesn't gaf about binding at all either, it hinders his mobility anyway. he can walk around shirtless if he wanted and the strawhats wouldn't care
usopp: they're still figuring it out, but likely transfem + genderfluid or something (she/they/he for now?? idk) it's kinda tied into her often feeling out of place (& me projecting), and i imagine that they never really understood or thought about their own gender identity until the crew met bon clay. usopp started questioning his identity after meeting bon clay and thinking "wait there's a secret third option?!?!" and uhhh yea
i'm still trying to figure out the timeline of everything and like flesh everything out but yeah that's what i got for yall
