TW; Pet Loss

Today I’ve said goodbye to my incredibly beloved cat, Pipboy. He was 18 years and his health had declined rapidly the last few months and I decided the humane thing was to let him fall asleep at home in my arms. It was calm; peaceful and dignified.

He was a very sweet man who loved snuggling, head scritches and yelling for food. He was incredibly beloved by the people who met him, and I will miss him dearly and he leaves a huge hole in my life.

We wish we had more time with you. We wish you didn’t feel any pain. We wish we could go back and be with you all over again. We have a thousand wishes for you to be at peace.

This morning we lost our fur baby. I’m going to be gone for a bit. I’ll see you all when I see you.

It’s been almost 5 months now, but I was finally able to bring myself to buy a memorial stone for Biskits. I’ll drive out to his grave this weekend to place it, but for now it can sit on my porch next to the Christmas dog I can’t bring myself to put away because it reminds me of him. 💔 I miss you so much buddy!

Hey guys,

I was writing a positive post about how I finished all 9 CCs I was working on, and how I'm about to take 3 days off making CC, and how I was going to start playing the Sims again after years of not playing because I won a copy of DHD.

I can't believe I'm writing this instead.

My sister came back from feeding the cats outside and told me that another of our neighborhood kittens was hit by a car. This one lives with her mother in the block next to ours but they come everyday to eat our food.

We lost 1 cat and 3 kittens in less than a week. I knew that my city was hostile to feral animals but now that we are taking care of some of them I realize I had underestimated the situation.

I am not ok!!!

Seeking advice I guess?

My cat, my darling dear, might be on her last legs in the coming days. I am awaiting test results from her bloodwork, but the vet said it is likely something like heart disease or GI cancer. I’m absolutely shook. She is 12 years old. Her last physical exam in December showed no signs of the heart murmur that they heard yesterday. They said her abdomen is filling with fluid. She’s having a really hard time eating and defecating. She is extremely weak.

It happened so suddenly. Sunday morning she was jumping around, being mischievous, being annoying, purring and meowing. Then late in the evening she became so lethargic and wanted to just hide.

If I get the call today that they can treat her, I am going to do whatever is necessary to do so. But I am not grasping on to too much optimism for that. She is showing very clear signs of the end of her life.

I’ve made arrangements to not leave her side for at least the week. I’m trying to keep her comfortable and encourage her to eat and make sure she’s not alone.

But I’ve also been trying to find ways to like idk not have her last days or hours be grim? And there’s no resources online about pet death that offer any advice other than generic shit that just doesn’t feel right or resonate at all with me.

I’m wondering if anyone has somewhat unhinged advice on ways to escort her out of her mortal coil. She’s not doing much and is on and off interested in her surroundings. But it just doesn’t feel right to do absolutely nothing other than keep her comfortable and encourage her to eat and rest.

I try not to cry in front of her. I’m trying to be a calming presence. I just don’t know what to do.
