Today when I was walking I happened upon a squat little fellow, and this lad was nowhere near a water source (even though technically it is in the vicinity)
Even now I am in the Sun that's why I imagine I see it's back is caked in dirt, I assume it had been burrowing to escape heat?
Anyway because it is my nature I spent a few minutes trying to pick it up, I was going to put it in my hat and safely carry it closer to water but it was having none of it. It gave me the lookup to my face, with lunge and it also rotated fairly quickly no matter where I stood. I wanted to try to pick it up very safely without getting bitten and it just was not going to happen.
Every turtle I have happened upon and tried to save was not the snapping kind so after a few attempts I let the poor land live its life. I know it was swearing at me. It successfully bit my hat a couple of times.
So I said fuck it I'm trying to change my life, let nature take its course! Even though it is not the worst boiling day at all and the fellow again is technically near water but it took me 7 minutes to get back to my car (I got towels and cardboard) and by the time I came back dude was absolutely nowhere. And I know nobody came by in the interim or squashed it away. So I can leave knowing I did my attempt and no long-lasting guilt.
So good luck to you lady or sir, peace unto thee!!
