reading demi biromantic gave me a chronic illness and several migraines just say bisexual
wow, i'm so aspec that i've gotten two aphobic anons today. guess the tumblr haters finally decided i'm ace and demiro enough to harass me. with a nice side of ableism too!
It's really tricky for me to have conversations about wanting a significant other with my friends. I know they all want to find someone to have a romantic + sexual relationship, and when these conversations come up in the group chat, i try not to get involved unless i am tagged or prompted in some way. The reason is that i know i can't relate to them and i don't want to bring down the mood for them. I don't think it's ever happened but i remember when they were talking about Valentine's day and someone brought up how people who talk about not liking Valentine's day are just unhappy and losers -- I assume they meant those people who shove these opinions in your face, but this was not clear in the conversation.
But sometimes during these discussions about wanting w significant other, one of them tags me and makes a joke like "boo reading this convo: 👁️👄👁️" . Tbh they are funny jokes, i don't mind then at all and i always laugh at them. But this feels like a cue for me to talk a little bit about how i feel or just make some jokes or something, because if i just ignore it it feels rude. So that's what I do, i make a quick comment about how i genuinely cannot relate but i support everyone in the chat who wants a significant other.
I don't think I've ever been overboard with this or at least it wasn't brought to my attention. But i am nervous that some of them talk behind my back because of the way I've heard them talk about aspecs in the past, and from some recent comments, it seems like they have not grown from these past positions. Especially with regard to demisexuality. Back when I heard those demiphobic comments, i didn't know what demi was so i didn't get involved. But now i think back and i wish i had known about it and had said something. But even if I did say something, i know i would have made myself smaller in the conversation because that's what I always do. I feel like everyone else has more experience with the lgbtq+ community, which is partially true, and that therefore their opinions and arguments are more valid than my own, which is false.
Aspecs, if you feel the same way or if you make yourself smaller in these kinds of conversations for a similar reason, feel free to reach out. I won't comfort you because i don't actually know how, but i want to know if this is a common experience among aspecs. Some dialogue on this topic would be great 🐝
ppl will be like “if ur aphobic DNI >:((((” and then say demi people are inherently homophobic and block anyone who says otherwise
opened twitter
first thing i see is a gross ace/demiphobic post liked by someone i thought was fine to follow

Demi culture is constantly seeing or getting the:"But isn't that normal?" question without the person realizing that we don't fall in love or experience sexual attraction without the bond.
