The "transautistic" BS has made its way back onto my dash, so I once again want to ask, as someone who is actually autistic... Why?
Do you think it's fun to have sensory issues that make it almost painful to do everyday things like go to school or shop for groceries? Or to have such strict routines that you'd rather go hungry for days than eat something that's different from normal? Or to be humiliated by meltdowns or shutdowns that you can't control? Or to be up late every night because executive dysfunction makes everything take forever? Or to be constantly lonely because you can't fit in with your peers? Or to struggle to communicate verbally, in some cases even at all? Or to be treated like you're either a dangerous animal or a clueless baby?
There's a reason autism is considered a disability. Autism isn't just suffering and misery. We can, and do, have lives full of joy and love. But there are a lot of real struggles that autistic people face, and I have yet to see a "transautistic" person actually address those struggles. Almost like they don't actually listen to enough autistic people to know that these issues exist in the first place. Or they just don't care.
Do you actually want autism... or do you just want the silly, quirky, "yippee" autism that you've seen through memes and tiktoks? Because I promise you, you don't have to be autistic to wear colorful clothes or paste the TBH creature everywhere. You can be as silly and quirky as you want without trying to imitate symptoms of a disability that you don't have. Being autistic wouldn't make it easier to do those things. It would just make a lot of other things harder and also make people treat you like shit.
Please just leave us alone. And for fuck's sake, stop making posts bragging about "passing" as autistic. The fact that you had to go through the trouble of researching how to fake symptoms proves that you're not autistic, and it's disgusting that you're proud of tricking people with your disability imitation.
I would say something similar about anxiety disorders because I struggle with that too, but I haven't actually seen much "transanxiety." Probably because it's not as entertaining to you people. You only want the conditions you think are cute and meme-able, not the boring ones, right?
(To be clear, I'm talking about allistic people who want to become autistic or "transition" to being autistic. As in, the "transabled" type. This isn't directed at autistic people who are transgender, nor is it directed at undiagnosed, self diagnosed, or suspecting autistics. You're cool, and I'm so sorry the "transabled" BS gets associated with you.)
