Meet Mel Tallear, a black serval from the Savanna Square. She's one of those success stories you'll hear about whenever someone mentions the big city – a top student, best of her class, who earned a full scholarship and went on to study law, to now become a rising star of a lawyer in the Zootopia city center. Coming from rather humble beginnings, her parents always had high hopes for their special daughter, and sacrificed a lot to give her the opportunity to have a good life.

Mel worked hard all her life, spending her youth doing little else but study every day. Now, she's one of the youngest graduates of the city's most prestigous academy, and even known in her field as one of the very best.

Her secret? She hates it. She's never wanted to practice law, or do any other prestigous job. It's always been her parents dream for her, not her own, and she can't bear to disappoint them, but the truth is, she's unhappy. But she's stuck in her fancy job, and there isn't much she can do about it – is there?

So what does Mel want to do? She doesn't know for the longest time, until the answer presents itself in the form of Pawbert, or rather, his hideout.

See, Mel managed to be successful enough to even gain the attention of the Lynxleys, and receive an invite to one of their events, where she met Pawbert. She liked him right away – he didn't seem like the others, and she didn't feel like she had to pretend to be a version of herself that she was not. He didn't need her to be stuck-up and proper, as was expected of her by everyone else, and Mel in turn liked him better as himself too. As they formed a friendship, Pawbert eventually showed her his hideout, where an idea finally formed.

A getaway place, not just for him, but for them all. A place where cats can be cats. And thus came the plans for the Cat Café, a cat-themed hangout spot filled with all the good cat stuff, from scratching posts to cardboard boxes, cat toys to treats. Where cats could go to let loose for a bit, be themselves without having to keep up their proper behavior to be accepted in a multi-animal society. Loaf down, relax, have a cup of catnip tea or climb the pathways of the walls.

It's all just a silly dream though, of course. Mel's parents worked too hard to give her the life they wanted her to have, she couldn't just throw it away. And it's not like Pawbert could ever break away from his family either.

The Cat Café shall live one day. Sure, Pawbert's in jail, but hey – at least he's got a good lawyer. Once he convinces Mel to do it, because bro what the fuck were you thinking? She's got half a mind to leave him in there. But we all want a happy ending, right?

Extra Notes

Mel's family consists of "regular" servals, she's the only melanistic one. She's born special!

While she knows how to act all proper to fit into high society, she's actually a huge dork. She's a silly kitty. Her and Pawbert get along so well.

The main problem is that she can't stand the cold, and Pawbert suffers in the heat. Rip.

The Cat Café does technically allow non-cats to enter, it just isn't set up to accomodate them. They might not have a good time. But they can come in if they want to.

Mel and Pawbert go hide in that tent of his to partake in catnip and you can't convince me otherwise. Tell me that man can't use some nip time. You know he has access to the good stuff too.

Spots used to be relatively rare, with most Ayunae being striped or solid colored. By pure chance, the Great Calamity wiped out a large number of striped Ayunae, leading to future generations propagating the spotted gene.

The most common fur colors are browns and blacks, but other colors pop up occasionally.

Transformers s/i redesign for Rescue Bots

Fellas look at this I managed to redesign my sona and it doesn't suck! Is it perfect? Definitely not, but I actually don't hate it and that's such a huge step up

Chase what have you done to me. He's got me out here voluntarily drawing robots again when that's my own personal circle of hell. It's not even just that i'm bad at it, I actively do not enjoy it, I am having a very bad time. BUT! I simply MUST inflict this upon Chase. He WILL be kissed, and he will like it.

Okay I'll level with you, this is just a fully and blatantly self-indulgent "what if I was a cat and also Chase was in love with me" thing. I threw logic out the window in favor of my own happiness, and you will respect it. However I do have some basic lore, just don't think too hard about it because frankly neither have I

💜 Nightpurr was formerly a human, and a friend of Team Prime back in Jasper. After a would-be-fatal incident that left their original body beyond repair, they got turned into a robot... somehow. Listen man I just want to be a cat. Let me have this.

💜 They function somewhat like a Terran in Earthspark in the sense that they consume water instead of energon. They can also still taste human food, they just can't digest it. Fluids are fine though, let's get this cat some raspberry soda.

💜 They're not even remotely ready for all the crap the Jasper team goes through on a daily basis, so Optimus sends them to Griffin Rock. The Rescue Bots along with the Burns family are asked to shelter them, so they can get used to their new body in a safe place (or you know, as safe as Griffin Rock can get).

💜 Nightpurr appears to be generally positive about the change. Mostly it's because they know very well that it's irreversible, so they try to make the best of it. No point in being upset if there's nothing you can do. But of course it's not that easy to just accept being suddenly ripped away from your entire species and culture, out into a much bigger and entirely different body, and forced into hiding.

💜 The Burns family, and the Greenes, are the only humans they can still interact with. Nightpurr spends a lot of time online because it's the only place they can still be treated as a normal human. It also takes them a long time to accept being categorized as a bot – they may have a bot body, but they were born human, which means they still are. Eventually they do accept that their humanity is a thing of the past, but still prefer "cat" to "bot".

💜 Nightpurr eventually scans a scooter as an alt mode, but even then it takes them a very long time to get comfortable with transforming. It just feels too weird, and even more so when someone's trying to drive them. Cody does get a scooter though once they do. He deserves his "own" vehicle/bot like the rest of his family.

🩵 Now, Nightpurr and Chase are obviously very much in love with each other, as that's the whole reason I'm here. Nightpurr, just like me, meets him, and very quickly gets to a point of "oh shit i NEED him". Chase feels the same way. The downright overwhelming pull toward each other, with a big dose of "what have you DONE to me" is mutual. They are SO down bad for each other, and neither of them knows what's going on because they've never felt this strongly. This is what I'm HERE FOR my friends!

It does take a While for them to actually get together though, because Nightpurr is shy when it comes to these things, and Chase is the most oblivious creature to ever walk this earth AND Cybertron. Everyone else knows though, it is very obvious. Nightpurr laughs at all his jokes and thinks his very literal-minded behavior is so cute. I mean come on, have you ever heard anyone laugh at Chase's jokes? Chase is the only one who doesn't catch on (he just thinks Nightpurr gets his humor).

🩵 Getting closer to Chase helps Nightpurr a lot with accepting the changes to their self and life. Plus, him and the other rescue bots get it – they lost their entire planet and everyone they knew within the span of what felt like a short nap. At least Nightpurr's people and their planet are still there... they can just never interact with them again.

🪻 I'm posting these on this blog, but unfortunately I am Not Good at drawing mech, unless I have an exact reference. So basically, I can redraw a character in the exact pose of the ref you send me, but that's about it. Headshots are probably fine though!

I remember answering an ask and saying that Nightpurr enjoys swimming, and then immediately realizing that they will sink. So Doc Greene made them bot-sized floaties so that they may enjoy the lake!
