i headcanon josh, hannah, and chris as trans
hannah knew she was a girl since basically forever, and her parents accepted that almost immediately. josh took a little longer to come out because of various insecurities, but the twins were really happy to have a big brother and their parents paid for both transitions. beth is super supportive, and her contact name in both josh and hannah’s phones is “cister” (“little cister”, in josh’s case).
chris took a while to come out because he had no idea how his parents would take it. they didn’t really get it at first and honestly they still don’t, but they try their best anyway because they really do love their son.
chris and josh learned that they were both trans pretty early on in their friendship and developed a habit of constantly calling each other “dude”, “man”, and “bro” to validate and support each other.
sadly, that last bit makes the whole “i’m not your bro” scene infinitely harder to watch, so enjoy that
@holeybubushka asked for Hannah with Matt ^^
AU where Matt rushed after Hannah and got her back safely to the lodge :>
Alright, who’s ready to get emotional over Until Dawn again, because I just realized something.
I don’t think Beth Washington died immediately.
When Sam and Mike find Hannah’s journal in the mines, the first entry tells us that the fall killed Beth, leaving Hannah alone and trapped. The fall killed her, not she died in the fall. And the next sentence? I watched the color drain from her face. The blood draining from someone’s face is something that happens immediately after death, since the blood stops circulating as soon as the heart stops pumping it, and Hannah saw this happen. Considering the fact that she seemed to be in pretty bad shape herself directly after the fall, looking stunned or unconscious in the close-up of them lying there, we can probably assume that she wouldn’t have been able to sit/stand and see Beth (who fell behind her) for a while after that.
Beth’s injuries from the fall may have killed her, but everything points to this being somewhat drawn-out rather than instant. Hannah had to actually watch the moment life drained out of her little sister. What if she was conscious? What if she had the chance to say something to Hannah before she died, to comfort her or make an ‘if I don’t make it’ speech? What if Hannah was holding her, trying to tell her it would be okay? Why does my heart hurt so much?
who wants to hear a really sad headcanon i have? no one? well to bad!
Wendigos spirits dont just take over the body of their host, they latch themselves into their very soul itself. Even after the wenidgo is killed, the soul of who the person once was is doomed to be connected with the wendigo spirt.
Like a drop in the ocean, the wendigo has no problem controlling the human souls it carries with it, but to those drops of water, they are forever trapped. doomed to repeat the cycle over and over again for all of eternity.
Thats why the Makkapitew is the most powerful, it’s collected the most souls over time. Which quite literally makes wendigoism, a fate worse than death, because you can never truly die, no matter how much you wish you could.
Has anyone noticed that Chris was actually never involved in the prank? He was passed out with Josh in the beginning. Which makes me wonder why Josh would go after Chris when he was never involved in the prank.
Actually, this topic has been discussed pretty extensively in the fandom! I’m glad you asked, though, because this was one of my first questions as well once I really started getting into Until Dawn.
I would try to find some sources of posts that explain this better, but I’m unfortunately pretty unorganized with the theories I find. They’re lost deep in the void of my 4000+ likes, so I’ll just try to summarize.
Of course, I’m rubbish at summarizing, so sit back, buckle up, and get ready for an info dump.
The most obvious answer is that Josh is really just punishing Ashley for her involvement, and only involving Chris because he sees it as an opportunity to push them together. This is foreshadowed by the potential line of dialogue: “They just need something to bond over, y'know? Some sort of traumatic event to send them into each other’s arms.” But this theory seems to be oversimplifying it a bit; it fails to explain why he doesn’t involve Jess, Mike, Emily, and Matt (who all also took place in the prank) and DOES target Sam, who tried to stop it.
My personal favorite interpretation of this is a combination of two other theories I saw here on Tumblr: that he specifically targeted his closest friends - including Chris - as a way of punishing himself, and that he thought he was helping them by making them the heroes of his viral video.
At the beginning of the game, Chris, Ashley, and Sam are Josh’s highest three relationships (strangely enough, Sam is actually tied with Jess, but I won’t get into that for now). These are Josh’s best friends, the ones who are most friendly and concerned for him in early chapters. According to this theory, it makes sense that Josh, who canonically has severe delusions (thinking the others will laugh off the prank, etc), would think that he’s doing his friends a favor by making them stars of the prank he thought would be so popular, there wouldn’t be “enough hard drives in China” for all the views it’ll get.
The first theory mentioned is a little harder to prove or explain, but the basic idea is that Josh feels responsible for his sisters’ disappearance (his hallucination of Beth says “Why didn’t you save us, Josh? Why did you want us to die?”), so in his mind he’s punishing the person truly at fault - himself - by terrorizing and thus alienating those closest to him.
If anyone can find the original links to these theories (which do a much better job of explaining them than me), please feel free to reblog with them attached! I’d like to get the credit back to those who deserve it.
Until Dawn and snacks
Sam: loves her granola bars and trail mix. She loves the Nature Valley brand. And she drinks protein shakes galore!! Josh: he's a slut for the seasonal and limited edition Oreo flavors. He can easily eat through an entire box in one sitting. He drinks Peace Tea like his life depends on it. Chris: Cool Ranch Doritos, bro. All kinds of Doritos, really. And Coca-Cola. Eats more of that shit than he does anything else in his diet. Ashley: like Josh, she's an Ore-ho, but she refuses to eat anything other than original and double-stuffed. Anything else is a "crime against humanity itself," according to her. And she rarely drinks soda, preferring juice of any kind, and of course milk to go with her cookies. Mike: Mike isn't much of a snacker. If he eats anything between meals, it'd something as simple as beef jerky or Slim Jims, which Jess complains about because "it makes his breath smell like a meat factory." His favorite drink is half Sprite, half Gatorade. Jess: baby carrots and ranch. She wasn't allowed to eat many sweets growing up, but she loves her veggies. Emily used to tease her about how fattening ranch dressing is, but Jess would just say Em was jealous of her figure. She drinks mainly flavored or carbonated water. Emily: peanuts and pistachios. She always carries a small ziploc bag full of them, or almonds/cashews if she's really desperate. Matt makes many jokes about her nuts, which she honestly doesn't appreciate. She pretty much only drinks expensive bottled water. Matt: Snickers and fruit snacks!!! The more sugary the snack, the better. Matt barely drinks enough, though, luckily Emily makes sure to stay on top of his liquid intake. It's not that he won't drink anything, he just forgets. Emily threatens to start packing him Capri Sun pouches if he keeps forgetting his water bottle.
Christmas headcanon:
Mike and Josh find Michael Buble's unnecessarily heteronormative rendition of Santa Buddy hilarious, so every year they sing a really exaggerated homoerotic duet of it while everyone else laughs their asses off over eggnog.
