Thinking about how Eleanor killed Vane and it killed something within her and how Dinah couldn't kill Billy and it also killed something within her.
Oh hey it's past midnight so technically it's Wip Wednesday
------
She could feel someone stroking her hair. The hand was calloused, the rough skin snagging at her fine hair in a way that was intimately familiar. But it couldn’t be him. Because he was dead, but in truth there were other, deeper, reasons than that that the hand which comforted her couldn’t be… his. Prime among them was that it had been her who sent him to the gallows. Yet the stroking persisted. As she focused on it, Eleanor realised that the hand was not warm. Strangely, she felt that it was not anything, although the roughness of his palms continued to catch now and then at strands of her hair.
How can that be? She thought to herself, still not opening her eyes or lifting herself from where she knew she lay. She knew she lay in the dirt, because she remembered the press of soil against her skin. She remembered pain, and blood. But she could not feel it now. She remembered Flint. She remembered…
Finally, she opened her eyes and raised her head. The stroking stopped. With great effort - and yet no pain - she sat up, and felt as dizzy and discombobulated as she had when the prison ship she’d been borne away from Nassau in had sailed through a squall.
“It- it wasn’t him.” Her voice didn’t seem to want to work. It sounded like a shadow. “Tell me it wasn’t him.”
The voice that answered was a shadow too, but not a pale one. “I can’t do that, Eleanor.”
Happy Valentine's Day ! 💖
Here's a little video to celebrate it :)
Side with me and we will show England that this place has never been stronger, and we'll keep our freedom for another day, another month, another year, a lifetime.
Black Sails Challenge: favorite trope or something like it

Eleanor’s tragedy is that she loved Charles, loved the pirates, but ultimately she couldn’t choose him. When she finally made her mind to be loyal, to prove Charles wrong (because she knew he was right about her turning on anyone to serve herself), she picked the wrong side and even at the end, when deep down she knew what woodes had done to her island, she couldn’t bring herself to come to terms with accepting that. Because it would mean that she had been wrong all along.
I’m here for this ship but I’ll need a little Vane for Guthrie on the side.
Hi! Personally I can`t share your wish, since vaneeleanor don`t work for me as ship (in my opinion, it definitely would be better for Eleanor and Vane both, if their relationship would never happened), but aside my personal tastes, there are another problems with Rogers/Eleanor/Vane in canon timeline and setting. 1) Eleanor defenitely didn`t plan to forgive Vane her father`s death 2) If you mean threesome, it`s difficult to imagine any sort peaceful cooperation between Rogers and Vane. 3) If you mean love triangle, I think it conflicts with Eleanor`s characters development in s3-4. She tried to avoid repeating of her past mistakes, so, I think, cheating is thing she didn`t want to do. Plus, after all, she just doesn`t like to lie people, especially, these ones, she loves. So I think cheating would make her feel uncomfortable etc. But I know, common opinion about Eleanor is different.
But I think Rogers/Eleanor/Vane can work as treesome or love triangle in different timeline or setting. One of my favorite AU is precanon with privateer!Rogers, where his expedition was on Bahamas, and Nassau was his base. It`s not too far from canon, so we don`t need to create another biographies for characters, but at same time it`s far enough to give freedom for fantasia. Also there are no huge part of problems from canon timeline. And at this point I still can try to imagine some sort of cooperation between Rogers and Vane. They are very different persons, of course, but at that point they both did same things, Vane as pirate, Rogers as privateer, only difference was a letter of marque. (OK, I simplify situation, difference between pirates and privateers was more, than it, but I hope, idea is clear.)
Sorry for late answer, I afraid, I am very bad with time managment. I hope, I don`t sound too much negative to Vane or something. I only tried to explain my position in order to avoid misunderstanding. Also, sorry for grammar mistakes, I really dont understand how to use some things in English grammar.
PS^ When I was writing that post I imagined Rogers/Eleanor/Vane/Madi pre-canon AU with privateer!Rogers, where Eleanor and Madi grew up together. Some time ago I discussed Rogers/Eleanor/Madi with @fixed-on-drama and @renardeninetail and look what you did! Fandom discussions are dangerous thing.
