Took a peak in the ripening bag and I was sooo happy with how pretty all the tomatoes are looking! So many different varieties from my roof garden and from the community garden when we went and did cleanup.

Apriums and Plumcots and Pluots, Oh My!
Apriums and Plumcots and Pluots, Oh My!
I was once a teenage paper carrier in small town Idaho. One of my stops was an apartment complex, and for much of the year, this was an uneventful stop. But for a few weeks in the summer, the purple-leaved plum trees out front had ripe fruit on them, and each time I was there, I would stop and take a few. Did you know that are more varieties of starfruit (Carambola) then just the one sold commercially? One the left is a neighbors harvest from one of the trees gifted from our nursery. I don’t think I even have this one in our food forest. So glad there are people not only caring for the trees given but also harvesting from them! Random fun fact since I’ve been working with metal lately… starfruit juice removes rust! Averrhoa carambola (starfruit) has been used to polish and clean metals for centuries due to the acidity of its fruit juice. It does a very good job at removing rust from the metal. The juice can also be used to remove rust stains from white cloth. ・・・ #growninhaiti #starfruit #Averrhoacarambola #sharingiscaring #diversity #varieties #haiti #ayiti #foodsecurity #agroforestry #foodforest #reforestation #growth #exoticfruits #tropicalfruits #fruitsofhaiti https://www.instagram.com/p/CY4Ds1quH1j/?utm_medium=tumblr
To anyone wanting to practice understanding dialects (or even just practice listening in general) — try doing a search for “studentradioen i [city name]” and you might find a bunch of student podcasts featuring your target dialect! There are lots of different genres, and you can either listen live or stream them wherever you listen to podcasts.
For example, I found a podcast called “studentmorgen” that I’ve been enjoying from Studentradioen i Bergen! It features different hosts each day of the week and there is a good mix of Bergen dialects with others. Plus, the vibes are somewhat casual, so I feel like I’m getting good insights on what day-to-day conversations sound like.
Would recommend for anyone at a B1/B2 listening level or above! :)
