You knocked on the door, somehow with your arms and hands full.
The door opened shortly after revealing a woman in a wheelchair with vibrant orange hair and glasses that she adjusted as if she was inspecting you.
"Um... is Jason here?" You asked.
After a while, she smiled and let you in. "Nice to meet you, I'm Barbara."
"Hello," you nervously chuckled and told her your name.
"Babs, who was at the door?" A man came around the corner and looked at you suspiciously. "Who are you?"
Barbara answered for you. "Tim, be nice. Most likely a friend of Jason's with... a lot of gifts."
Tim laughed. "Jason and friend in the same sentence? I must be dreaming."
And finally Jason came into view, another man alongside him smiling politely at you.
Jason's expression softened as he looked at you. Something that did not unnoticed by his older brother. He took the tray from you and placed it on the counter.
You smiled and shrugged. "Stress baking."
"Figured. What'd you make this time?" He began to take the bags from you aswell.
"Your favorite, red velvet cupcakes." You answered. "Amongst other things."
"His favorite? Nah, Jason hates red velvet." Tim snorted.
Jason glared at Tim while Dick nudged him slightly, silently pleading not to press this further. Barbara looked on with am amusing look.
You glanced at Tim confused. "But, Jason eats everything I bake." You frowned. "You said you liked the cupcakes."
"And I do," Jason snapped at you unitentionally before immediately softening his voice as he maintained eye contact with you. "I do, I like your cupcakes, love them even. Love everything you bake."
"Even if I'm turning your kitchen into my bakery?" You asked.
"Especially if you're turning my kitchen into a bakery." Jason smiled softly. "What else did you bake?"
"I made cookies, so many cookies and brownies." You nodded. "I don't think you can eat them all by yourself."
"I totally could," Jason shook his head. "...you're just lucky I give them to kids when I'm on patrol." He mumbled. "They love them by the way, your cookies."
"Wait... they know about your nightly activities?" Dick asked.
"Of course, how did you think we met? He crashed through my window." You took out more contents from the bags.
"I didn't crash through your window- I landed on your fire escape." Jason corrected.
Tim ran his fingers through his hair. "Sounds like you totally crashed through their window, dude."
You giggled as Tim agreed with you. Jason, who was annoyed couldn't help but find your laughter endearing especially if it was at his expense.
"Well.. just keep that to yourself." Jason glanced at you.
"I didn't know you had a type, Jason. They seem so... much nicer than you." Barbara glanced at you with another smile.
"Yeah, like total opposites. That's definitely not what I look for in someone." Dick shrugged.
"We know Dick, your type is redheads." Tim glances at Barbara.
"He's not wrong," She snorted. "How's Kori anyway?"
"She's doing good." Dick nodded with a smile. "We're doing good, you know yesterday we painted our house-"
Jason cleared your throat. "You all can leave now."
"Leave now? But we were just having fun tormenting you." Tim smiled.
Jason caressed your wrist, the action alone saying more that he needed to.
"I'll see you on patrol tonight? Or not. Clearly you have more important things to tend to." Dick nodded in understanding.
Jason glanced at him and nodded. "Red Hood is... busy tonight."
Dick patted Jason on the shoulder and headed to the door, Jason followed him.
"If you need anything-" "I won't. But I suppose if the opportunity presented itself..." Jason trails off. "I guess I'll call you. And for the love of God, don't tell Kori."
Dick smiled. "I'll try not to, she would have a field day about this."
Jason looked at Dick. "I know..." He sighed. "I'm just not ready for that yet."
Dick nodded. "Don't worry about it then, just tell me when you're ready and let me handle the rest. I'm your big bro for a reason right?" He winked.
"Unfortunately." Jason smirked. "Now go, I have cupcakes to eat." He glanced back at you in the kitchen.
"I'm coming back tomorrow to grab one, don't even think about eating all of them." Barbara gave him a look.
Jason held his hands in surrender. "Alright alright, no need to threathen me."
As the others left, Jason made his way back to you. His smile immediately widening.
"So, how crazy was that? On a scale of one to ten." Jason asked.
"Definitely a 3. I'm surprised they didn't have that many questions." You wrapped your arms around him.
He looked down at you, immediately embracing you as well. You giggled even more in his embrace, somehow it making you feel more safe.
"That laugh... my favorite sound, always is." His knuckles although bruised seemed to have soften as it brushed your cheek.
Your breath hitched as you looked at him.
He kissed your forehead, tender and soft just as you make him feel.
