Is it such a surprise we live in a such an unjust country when our politics considers the word 'victim' a shameful pejorative.

#may be opening up a can of worms here but I had an epiphany about how often the word 'victim' from across the ideological spectrum #with quite a lot of...well scorn at worst and pity at best #whether someone's talking about how people 'play the victim' or live with a 'victim mentality' or just even people who are survivors #of some pretty horrific acts - the word that's used is 'survivor' rather than victim #a logic I can understand - but I feel it's kind of built on the presumption that it's *bad* to be a victim #that it's a thing that indicates some weakness or shame rather than a simple descriptor #of something *done* to a person rather than what that person is #and from that end I don't think that's deliberate - I think it's a natural response #to just how much the word and status of 'victim' is used negatively #this is circling into a confused rant but just #ever since I've noticed it I can't *stop* noticing it #and the more I think about how we are living in a world that so publicly and viciously despises people who have been victimized #because it's a hatred of weakness #and now the usual knee-jerk reaction of so many is 'I'm not a victim but-' instead of 'what's wrong with being a victim?'#just...how can there be justice in the world when there's more moral onus being put on being a victim than the ones *creating* the victims?#Victims #Victimhood #Victim Blaming #Victim Mentality #(i.e. a word I have come to despise)#Victimization #Politics #Shower Thoughts #Society
