Heyooooo, we're language neighbours too (Telugu girl here)
And I've been obsessed with Alaipayuthey and Bombay for the past few weeks, help
hiii neighbour !!!
i must confess, ive only ever wasted clips of alaipaayuthey and never the entire movie 😔😔 bombay is fucking amazing tho always in love w that film mannn (tamil puriyuma?)
For those writers unfamiliar with Telugu endearments to use for Rambheem context, and those who end up using anna because it kinda fits the meaning 'dude'
Don't come at me but anna purely means brother. Dude in english can stand for 'guy (genderneutral)' or 'person' but it's not the case for anna in Telugu.
So here I come with some cute words/endearments/ways for the characters to address each other. I will mention when they can make sense in a genderneutral state as well.
male
bhaiyya (not bhai)
orey (a term used in haste, like "orey, give me that quickly!") - [genderneutral]
babai (means father's brother but it's an endearment for someone elder or whom you consider older, also for those who are the desi equivalent of an old hag lol)
bava (meaning sister's husband, or just a term among friends sometimes)
na bangaru thandri (coll.transl. my golden boy) (a fluffy endearment)
ma naanne &/or ma thandre (context of joking, or jovial pride "you finally asked them out? ma naanne ma thandre!")
female:
osey (just like orey but female version) (don't use this if you're writing them in the context of "meri jaan", osey is a rough term, it can fit for rampant love confessions or anger)
na bangaru thalli (coll. transl. my golden girl)
bangaram (literal meaning gold but it's an endearment) [genderneutral]
ma thalle (jovial pride, comedy or actual pride) (when you're proud of something they've done you go "ma nanne ma thalle how good you look/how hard you've worked!)
na bujji kadu? (endearment, rhetorical question like "aren't you my darling?" usually when you want them to do something for you ; like Sita held a hand full of food in front of Jenny with a begging need in her eyes "Na bujji kadu? Na bagaru thandri kadu? Eat please")
Hear me out please
there isn't anything wrong with the term 'anna' itself. but when using words from another language in a particular context that the word doesn't suit for, it becomes awkward. right now, all the peeps on here reading fics using anna between rambheem have been reading smut and flangst between two people who address each other as brothers (getting a little bit too mortal instruments for me mi lord). so, here's this post to not only politely push a gentle request towards you like a basket full of tiny meowing kittens, BUT ALSO to provide you with alternatives so that the endearments become EVEN BETTER.
Thank you and if anyone needs any more terms or telugu context or just a friend to brainstorm with, I'm here❤️
@budugu @hissterical-nyaan @juhiiiiii and the rest of my telugu fam!
Thank you for waiting for more than 2 weeks for my answer! I know I'm a clown but I have put 15 minutes of effort into finding this particular ask-game question list because I wasn't ready to give up for one of my lovely mutuals yet!
28. Who are you most comfortable with?
A: I'm most comfortable with my family, and my close friends who enjoy having me around as company. Sometimes, even some of the mutuals I have interacted with seem great, too!
42. If you're being extremely quiet what does it mean?
A: I rarely go into this state, but if I were to go that far, it means that I'm very pissed off or I'm feeling upset abt something that I'll forget abt later. Nonetheless, it's a really bad silent treatment.
111. Do you have trust issues?
A: Unfortunately, I do, and it's all thanks to those motherfuckers out there who gave it to me. Yet, I always go out with my heart on my sleeve no matter what, because how can I trust someone unless I put my honest self out there? ;)
Thank you again for being patient, and have a lovely day!!! ^_^ <3
Fellow Ashley follower!!!! Honestly I get my daily dose of serotonin from her videos
Stumbling across her reactions to "You" was honestly one of my favorite Internet experiences. She's hilarious and a total mood the majority of the time. I saw she got to go to the opening night of the Eras tour and was so happy for her.
Mahonia - What place/thing/activity inspires you most and how do you express yourself when it does?
I can't think of any specific thing where like if I am there, I am 100 % going to be inspired. What happens with me if I will be reading something, or watching something, or just scrolling and come across something that sends my brain's gears spinning until a story takes shape. The actual writing down of this story is another thing entirely and one I am trying to figure out myself lol.
Jasmine - Do you have a movie or a book you love but will never watch/read again?
I adored "The Book Thief" by Markus Zusak. If you've not read it, it is a book that sticks with you. But the reason why I can never read it again (and I am not alone in this opinion) is the book is so powerful it changes something in you. I honestly read that book a solid decade ago. I do not remember most of the plot or the character names. But I know that when I did read it, it touched something in my soul that just...it is a tough book but an important one. The narrator of this book is Death, and it is set during WWII Germany.
"I wanted to explain that I am constantly overestimating and underestimating the human race - that rarely do I even simply estimate it. I wanted to ask her how the same thing could be so ugly and so glorious, and its words and stories so damning and brilliant...I AM HAUNTED BY HUMANS." - Markus Zusak, "The Book Thief"
