Some nights,

I just look up at the sky and think, how insignificant one human life really is, in the vast infinite universe. All the things that go on far away from here and we have no idea and probably will never have an idea of what they are. We were born into an age of technology where social interaction is minimum and our lives are not as rich as they once were. We're living in bleek times my friends, where time flys by and we have little to nothing to show for it, dying without some of life's biggest questions answered. Maybe one day this can all change.

It also means, by the way, that it’s not same sex marriage that has redefined marriage. Back in 1969 when we embraced and accepted ‘no-fault divorce’ in American society, that redefined marriage already. Because what that said was, “All marriage is about is our personal happiness and when we stop being happy, we can walk away without any consequences.” And that made marriage something that it was not. What marriage isn’t about is personal happiness, although happiness is one of the results. […] Marriage is about the perpetuation of civilization. And ‘no-fault’ divorce redefined that. Why is this such an important ethical issue? Because, as all the researchers we’ve looked at have said, “No society has ever survived after its family life deteriorated.” And if [J.D. Unwin] is right, that those who had a strong sexual ethic tied to marriage and lost it for three straight generations were doomed, we’re about at two and half. We have got to take seriously what this means.
