What is one of your favorite whump scenarios?

ooooooOOOO just one of my favourite scenarios huh

okay so picture this: whumpee is dealing with some kind of ongoing abuse. the situation is bad and possibly escalating but they can deal with it. they've BEEN dealing with it and just proceeding throughout their normal life while taking painstaking steps to hide whatever whumper is doing to them. maybe people are starting to pick up on the fact that something is not okay.

and then it happens. maybe they reach a breaking point and shatter to pieces around someone they trust so much that their body can't hold the trauma in anymore and they collapse. maybe they have an injury that's too distinctive or obvious to hide and their friend/teammate/whoever notices and confronts them over it. maybe whumper reveals it themself, either to humiliate or punish whumpee or because they were caught for something else or they think no one would possibly do anything to stop the abuse. maybe caretaker(s) walked in on something.

regardless, it's out in the open now. someone knows, maybe more than one someone. whumpee is humiliated. ashamed. angry. guilty.relieved. someone knows.

(someone cares. because they're not being punished by the people they're close to, the ones who had no idea. they're receiving care. compassion. protection. safety. things they've been chronically deprived of in ways they feel like they're to blame for.)

yeah. ongoing abuse reveal has to be one of THEE scenarios ever for me in whump. nothing will ever quite compare to it, and when i can find a good version, it hits like nothing else.

What is a favorite type of place to lock a whumpee in?

hmm well my first thought is a cell, or a closed off space that is still roomy enough for proper whump, but whumpee is usually fastened to something or chained up (@painsandconfusion's Little Fox where Alec walks around in the basement and Kara is fucking NAILED to the wooden post---OMG whumperflies just thinking ab it) in a way that they can't get around; whumper can. like a basement. (ep 1 of 'Countdown' with Amber's introduction where she's literally chained to the ceiling is a scene i can't stop gushing about sorry not sorry)

but...i have a few more interesting ideas, too. i really enjoy locking whumpee in a car trunk, all tied up and gagged, blindfolded (or just in the backseat, ep 13 of 'Countdown' literally made me scream it was so whumpy.

speaking of which (same episode)...a closet works SO WELL. esp tied to a chair, gagged and blindfolded, in a tiny little closet surrounded by things they'll trip over, and also if they have no idea where they are the clothes brushing their skin are going to be unpredictable and unknown, lots of potential for claustrophobia. (at this point i just need someone to watch the show bc its pretty whumpy)

or a cupboard that SO OBVIOUSLY does not fit them (along the lines of that one scene in @befuddled-calico-whump's riot kings that i looked for and can't find im so sorry i wish i had the link) like they can't even try to escape because bound up they have a wall pressing in on them from every side and even moving slightly hurts (also great for claustrophobia)

yeah basically anything that makes whumpee feel uncomfortable/pained/horrible even when whumper ISN'T THERE, like whumper can leave and turn the lights off but they're still chained up/in the trunk of a car/stuck in a cupboard and it doesn't necessarily have to be a punishment, i prefer when its just the place where whumpee is always kept (i mean the car one only really works for the kidnapping itself but aside from that), and they have to fight their own thoughts because whumper might actually be better than the place where they're locked.

yeah those are pretty much it, i think! i mean, for royal whump, i also really like the cliché 'stuck in a tall tower while powerless and unable to stop the whumper' but mostly the cell, trunk of a car, closet, and cupboard omg i'm alliterating are my favs.

Do you have a favorite type of Whumpee, when it comes to species? (Human, vampire, fae, mermaid, etc)

honestly, i gotta go with human! they're just so vulnerable, but also resilient, and you can modify and transform them into other things, things that may still be barely human, or only look human on the outside...i feel like there's a lot more to do with them within more confined limits, which is a fun challenge for me.

and i like getting Philosophical with all the complexities of human nature because i am a human myself - a symptom of the human ego, you see.

ofc if i had to pick a nonhuman species, it's a tie between angels and vampires. pretty angels and immortal, ageless vampires...

I'd say it heavily depends on the OC and their world. I like to beat my OC's from a superhero world into hospital while my babies from the "regular" world seem to get into more sickfic shenanigans and lighter injuries.

Of course kidnapping and related mental and physical trauma happens across all worlds 😈

If you could only read about three whump prompts/scenarios for the rest of your life, what would they be?

I already answered my top 3 whump tropes here, but let's see if these are any different. Because I think they are.

Self-sacrifice. Okay, yeah this was also on my top 3 list. It's just so good. Love it when it's from Whumpee's POV. Love it when it's from Caretaker's POV. Love it when Whumpee is saved or survive. Love it when Whumpee doesn't survive. I also feel like, if you are gonna get stuck with only three scenarios for the rest of your life, this is a good choice. There's so much you could do with it, and so many slightly different ways it could go. I think "reading about Character sacrificing themselves" is my "reading about the same two characters falling in love"; I could read it over and over again and not lose the whumperflies.

(Forced to Watch and Strangled was also on my top 3 but I think I'm too picky with how the first is done and the other feels too, not too small, but restrictive(?) for me to choose it for this)

So for second... Whumpee realizing they're loved. If you're gonna be stuck with only three, more ambiguous means more variation/entertainment, right? No, but I actually love this kind of thing. There are so many good dynamics you can do with this. Maybe it's a Whumpee who has never had a real family, who realizes how much their new found family cares. Maybe it's a Whumpee with a complicated relationship/past with Caretaker, realizing Caretaker cares about them as much as they care about Caretaker. Maybe it's a team leader Whumpee, who realizes that their team is just as protective of them. (This also makes a great combo with self-sacrifice, just saying).

And for third... Honestly, I would probably go with Gunshot Wound or Stabbed. Something simple but oh so good. Love the hurt, love the comfort. Love what it could mean for exploring/getting into the dynamic between characters.

I love how all of these could easily be combined into one: Whumpee sacrifices themselves, taking a hit meant for Caretaker, and ends up realizing how much Caretaker actually cares about them.

Do you prefer Whumpees who get rescued or ones that rescue themselves?

whumpees who get rescued! i just love the chills of that realization when the rescuer shows up and the emotional impact that it has, depending on who the rescuer is. is it caretaker? a stranger? maybe even another whumper? there's so many possibilities. :)

I like the recovery side of things, even if it moves a bit slowly, because sure, you saw the actual torture and hurt the OC went through in the Whump side of things, but the recovery? You get to see what the torture and hurt did to OC, the long-lasting effects, how it shaped the into something their pre-whump self would not recognize

random ask! A Whumpee needs to be locked somewhere for a while (for any reason). You get to design the room, what do they get? (Something nice? Something horrible?)

I sure did let this fester since January! Sorry, fren.

I think for me this depends on for how long. If it'll be a week or something? A plain, quaint little room. No clocks. Minimal furniture and amenities. It's got clear plexiglass walls so the poor captive has no privacy AND no help as people walk by ignoring anything they say. They definitely don't get to know why they're there, but can see enough to be worried. Food is passed in through a slot a couple of times a day by a guard who smiles at them sadly, clearly knowing more than they're letting on but not saying a word no matter what the captive asks.

Less than like...2 or 3 days? Morgue drawer. Naked. Pitch dark. Good luck, buddy! See ya soon! It's not going to get better. :)
