Ampersand and why I suggest it as the alternative. This is an extremely long post!
THIS POST IS OUTDATED.
PLEASE read the devs blog post! This post is outdated but slightly updated from the og version. Heed with caution!
Everything done past "You mentioned a Journal?" is written while high as fucckkk.

THERE IS A PETITION TO MAKE SIMPLY PLURAL OPEN SOURCE
A few notes before we start!
Ampersand is a purely offline app. It does not have any social media features and as I'll get into no friend feature. I'm unsure if they'll change this in the future. There's a toggle to turn on off and on the internet on the app and the only thing this does is turn off and on the ability to use external links like from catbox or filegarden.
Also, yes, there's a password feature.
Simply Plural is not gone YET but it will in the future. I have high expectations it will end in June. That being said I can be wrong, there is still a chance it will stay funded for the online servers. I will be using Simply Plural until it goes offline.
"However, at the bare minimum we wish to keep the servers online until at least June 1st 2026, and in the event funding becomes a problem until then, we'll fund the servers for the remaining time ourselves. In any case, we will be giving a formal notice one to two months prior to shutting down the servers."
This reads to me the app will be shutting down by June 1st, because with how the title reads it's not a "maybe" it's a "we will" as it's literally titled "Simply Plural will be discontinued" not "Simply Plural might be discontinued" or something similar.
Ampersand does not have a friend feature, I'm aware that's what made Simply Plural amazing but frankly I'm willing to give up Simply Plural's friend feature for the features of this app. That being said if Ampersand ever allowed that as a toggleable feature I'd 100% be down for it.
Ampersand is still in development and is new. It also does not support importing over 100 headmates into the app. I'm unsure how it works with 100 added from scratch, and I've seen a few people say it gets laggy over 80. I suggest testing this out yourself. My friend with at least ~88 headmates got to import just fine! This will no doubt be fixed in the future!
Ampersand is only for Windows and Android for now. They are currently trying to get money to get on iOS and I suggest supporting them if you can! I'm currently using it on Windows.
DO NOT USE OCTOCON. I'm being so fucking serious do not fucking use it, READ THIS POST ABOUT IT. Pro or anti Endogenic you shouldn't use that fucking app!
I have complex feelings about the app being discontinued. This post explains my feelings really well and even though I can sympathize I do feel like this is a very, very, odd choice.
Why do I download one than the other?
Because importing doesn't work on the CI version from what I can tell. You're free to test it, but I suggest downloading the non-CI version first > importing > then installing CI version after. You can delete the non-CI version once you get everything set up on the CI version.
The non-CI version does not contain the ability to make multiple systems. We like the CI version as it has the ability to make more than one system and that is vital to our system and how we work.
How does importing work?
First off, export your Simply Plural data by going to "settings > account > export data" you have to download the information through your email and there's a zip of all of your icons in the same email.
If you cannot do this you will, sadly, have to do it manually. I exported and am doing all of this on a computer.
If it gives you an error there's a chance there's too many headmates and you will have to start from scratch. For that I'm sorry. You can either wait till a version comes out that supports importing high headmate counts or you can continue reading to see if it's worth the effort on adding everyone individually.
When you import your data it will pop up with this, CLICK YES OR YOUR ICONS WON'T IMPORT PROPERLY. THIS IS IMPORTANT FOR THOSE THAT USE CATBOX OR FILEGARDEN FOR ICON LINKS.
Ignore the cat paw, this is from a friends screen recording lol.
What imports?
Icons, I suggest downloading the zip Simply Plural gives you of icons if it doesn't work. Only icons you've uploaded via the app get downloaded to the zip file. The rest of the icons are within the json file given.
Folders, however these are turned into tags on Ampersand.
You can see the tags and how they're the same color as the Simply Plural default orange, that's because the folder color has been imported as such. (My friend maggotis drew my icon, if you're curious.)
The tags for us are still a WIP cause we just imported to Ampersand today, they're all over the place lol.
You can edit tags in Options > Tag Management. This is also where you manage Journal tags, but I'll get to that.
Front History
Custom Fields
Who's currently fronting at the time.
The fronting custom status'.
There's Accessibility!
This is a must and I'm happy to announce they're good!
You can adjust these when you import for the first time, there'll be a button to click under the import options.
More screenshots from my friends screen recording lol please click them to view them in whole.
What's new?
Ampersand has stuff Simply Plural and many other apps don't have. My favorite features have to be the following
Extended Markdown; this shit is fun!
Unlike with Simply Plural the markdown has been very extended. The wiki has a lot of information about the markdown it has and I suggest reading that, that being said here's a video of everything you're able to do in Ampersand, yes that's a marquee!
This does not have a description in detail, however it is showcasing on a Test Member profile all of what Ampersand has to offer on markdown from highlighting and basic things to Marquee and text shadows!
You can also import and use svgs, however svg work is quite confusing at first. When you download a svg file open it in notes and change all hexcodes to currentColor and save it then import it to asset manager.
What the fuck is asset manager?
Good question! It's similar to file garden but for local files...that's the best way I could explain it.
You upload files you want to add to descriptions of things, it supports gifs and that does mean you can add pixels (as shown above in the video).
You use them like you would any image, instead of a link you use @asset_name which is what you title the image. In my case it's "cloverdivider" and any spaces you need an underscore (_).
You import it as you usually would with images. you can also resize it with #numbers and if you add -1 it'll keep the original aspect ratio.
You mentioned a Journal?
Yes! And as you can see, you can add images and even tags to the journal entries. The tags can be whatever you want and you can tell by my wonderful journaling skills that it's been a rough day for us.
What was that about multiple systems?
You can have a main system and side/sub systems easily with Ampersand and it's one of the main reasons we love it.
Please click to view them bigger.
The main reason we love this is for...obvious sisasystem reasons but its entirely separated from the main system! There's no folders there's an entire new dash for that system only. It's peak!
I'm high af and want to get this done with so I'm posting this now, I'm sorry if this is confusing as hell but you can send me questions and I can try to help.
Oh yeah, there's also a presence history to track how blurry you are or not.
