Defacing Churchill's statue has brought about some not so surprising reaction from a group of British people (looking at you, Piers Morgan). He is, after all, considered to be the greatest prime minister the British (empire) ever had.
That said, the allies that helped Britain win the war weren't that great, were they? Millions of people disappeared or died in Stalin's Russia, while the USA was a cesspit of segregation. Maybe that's why the narrative when we mark the anniversaries of everything WW2 related is whittled down to just British heroics. It was a war the allies won to maintain the lesser of two evils.
Churchill loved the British empire; the prestige and valuable materials it brought to the homeland. He didn't love its subjects. He considered them the white man's burden. It was Britain's responsibility to civilise the uncivilised.
Churchill was a racist. If you support Black Lives Matter, then it means a lot of history you were taught should be put under scrutiny, and it should make you feel uncomfortable.
Sometimes it is not enough to do our best; we must do what is required.
Winston Churchill
