June Week 1: The Wheel
Even if you don't prescribe to the popularized Wheel of the Year ideology, your year rolls on, as a wheel does, and continues day into day, month into month and year into year. And there is a cycle to that rolling wheel, even if for you it is only the seasons.
So this month we'll be taking a look at that wheel, at our year, and how the changes in the seasons influence our practices, if at all, along with what things we celebrate or acknowledge throughout the year. Let's dive in!
Monday - Seasons/ Sabbats/ Esbats/ Holidays
Research/ New Pages - So this is going to be a lot of new pages, if you feel like making them. Make a page for each of the holidays you celebrate, if you feel the need. Anything from the wheel of the year, to important cultural holidays you celebrate, to holidays you acknowledge in general. Do basic research, beyond the things you already know about those holidays. As an example, Imbolc, part of the wheel of the year. When is it? What is it? How is it celebrated? Why is it celebrated? What is its history, myths and legends? What magic is associated with it? What deity, if any? What are other associations it has? What foods are related to this holiday? What activities? Make a general page for each of the things you celebrate that you can come back to as you learn more about them and celebrate them over time!
Research/ New Pages - If you associate more with the general seasons, make a page for each season. When, for you, does the season start and end? What is associated with it? Both in your practice and in your life, how do you relate to the season? As much info as you can gather!
Tuesday - Transitional Periods
Research/ Introspection - As we observe the wheel of the year there are periods where they seemingly overlap at times, or when things are in a transitional period. Not quite summer, but not yet fall. Are there any associations for these periods of time? Certain magic or events associated with these times? Think not only about the world, but about yourself during these time periods. How do you feel, where do you fit in? How does this transitional period influence you and your practice?
Introspection/ Meditation - Think about how the weather and the seasons effect you. Do you get sad on rainy days? Do you get the winter time blues or seasonal depression? Are you happier on sunny days? Dig deep and try to discern the reason for these feelings, good or bad. It could be simple psychology, ya know, sunlight does in fact help our brains feel happy. Or it could be something deeper. Think hard and journal the experience have your introspection.
Wednesday - Personal Holidays
Research/ Introspection/ New Page - What are the holidays you celebrate? How do you celebrate them and why? Are they part of your craft or are they just days you celebrate? Make a page for each that you can expand on at a later date!
Research/ New Page - Herbal research - Pick another herb from your list and discover all that you can about it! Everything from the magical, to the mundane! Practical and medicinal uses, culinary uses, myths and legends, what is it associated with and why is it associated with those things!
Thursday - Activites through the year
Introspection/ Journal - Are there any yearly activites you participate in? Anything you only do once or a few times a year because of the timing or certain events or schedules? Why does that schedule exist and what is the importance of the activity? For example, my mom's coworkers have a yearly hog roast to kick off the summer. It's become rather the huge event. We all go out to her friend's farm, they dig a pit, clean it up, everyone camps in campers or tents for a couple days. There's games, karaoke in the barn, swimming and so so much food. I learned more about why they do it after talking to my parents and other people that were there. Do you do anything similar? If so, what is the significance?
Friday - Enjoy the weather
Practical - get up, get out, and no matter the season, enjoy your current weather. Connect to the wind, the rain, the sun, the earth. Take a breath and a break from the challenge today and exist. Cause the world is a heavy place sometimes, but it is also the things carrying you through life. Connect to it and enjoy it!
That's it for this week! I hope you're all doing well, and i'm getting ready for the summer along with taking care of the coming weeks of the challenge so i can sit back for a while as they post. Continue to carry on, practice safe witchcraft and enjoy the things you do!

I've started working on my grimoire!!
I'm currently journalling and researching about moon phases for my practice, and I'm planning on documenting my emotions and mental health throughout the different phases in this grimoire
if any experienced witches, pagans, wiccans or just funky moon people would like to correct anything I've written then please do so! I'm always happy to learn more about my practice :DD
(please note that I am in Australia! So- southern hemisphere, yo!!!)
> Hi there! My name is Alec/Ramble. I am a kitchen, moon and music witch (being that my incantations are often in the form of song)
It’s a crazy time. With the holidays around the corner, quarantine and social distancing it can seem like an endless loop if stress and frustration.
So If you’re feeling particularly anxious try this simple spell to help that energy move on so you can focus on more important things, like watching Netflix and not worrying about the shit you can’t control.
What you need:
Smoky quartz
Black candle
Pencil
What you do:
Take a black candle and using your pencil scratch into the side of the candle the things that are overwhelming you. Be brief but specific. Example: You can scratch in ‘work’ or ‘parents’ or you can get specific and say ‘research paper’. Write as much as you want until the candle is filled with all your anxious stress.
Set the candle down in it’s holder and light it. Place the smoky quartz next to the candle to absorb the negativity.
Light the candle and picture a wave of calmness over you. Let the candle burn out. And carry the smoky quartz with you for a few days.
The use of candles
• 𝒲ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑠𝑜𝑛 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑢𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑙𝑒𝑠?
The candle represents the element of fire, faith, enlightenment and the transmutation of energy. That is why we light candles and this is extremely important in rituals and various magical practices. Fire is connected with light and therefore everything that illuminates is something to set us free. The flame of a lighted candle is essential.
• 𝒲ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑖𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑣𝑎𝑟𝑖𝑒𝑡𝑦 𝑜𝑓 𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑙𝑒𝑠 𝑓𝑜𝑟?
The types of candles are many: we have small, large, wide, scented candles, the seven-day candle and so on. Some people really get confused with all of these styles and are still not aware of the functions of each candle. Those that have an aroma are suitable for harmonizing the environment, cults and worship of the gods (we can mention baths and meditations). Speaking of sizes and colors: candles release energy or repel them. The greater, the greater the strength. The longer it will last. As for colors, they will help to banish or attract the desired energy. It is worth noting that consistency and certainty are needed when lighting a candle with such intentions.
• 𝒞𝑜𝑙𝑜𝑟𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝑚𝑒𝑎𝑛𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝑐𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑙𝑒𝑠
Everything that makes up a candle becomes its essence and this is directly involved with all its shades and sizes. The fire will be consuming what it asked for, either to attract or get rid of it permanently. The power of that flame will be on your life according to your wishes and greatest desires, so be sure of what you want for yourself when using the item. If you want more affection and love, burn a pink candle and so it will be. Candles do not keep many secrets, but attention is needed.
✧ black candle: In its symbology, the black color is like a sponge that sucks. it absorbs. It is capable of pulling energies or even repelling - both positivity and negativity. But don't be afraid, just use awareness and direction. Want to ban? Use it. Will you take bad vibes from yourself? Use it. However, if you are still unable to do this, meditate your mind before doing it.
✧ lilac or violet candle: The mixture of two extremes: the hot and the cold. Purple or violet becomes a transmuting point. It is the color linked to spirituality, tranquility and mind.
✧ pink candle: Love, delicacy, sensitivity, subtlety, friendship, sincerity. A great protector against diseases related to sex and also depression. The rose candle (made with rose petals) is also the same color and has the same qualities.
✧ yellow candle: The candle that we can most relate to activities. Strength, movement, ideas, communication. It frees paths to reach order, to full reasoning. It is connected with memory and all social relations. The honey candle is yellow and has the same characteristics mentioned.
✧ orange candle: Energy, renewal, joy, gratitude and solar strength. Its power is strong and encouraging, it moves creativity and makes us dynamic. Force.
✧ white candle: The white candle is also transmutative in the following aspects: peace, inspiration, the spiritual and the harmony of spirit. It brings complete strengthening to the soul, puts true words on our lips, strengthens the effect on prayers. Strengthens the bond and purifies. Its energy is protective in many ways.
✧ red candle: As its color indicates, it is represented by the forces of passion and sensuality. Beauty, attraction and physique. Because it has the color of the blood and is also linked to the flow, it is also related to the heart and strong emotions, such as love and even hate. Have coherence and direction when making its use, since it is the candle of what is most primitive in us.
✧ green candle: Awakens mental and physical health, hope, dreams and positivity. Good for rejuvenating and invigorating, to increase the mood. Attracts responsibility, judgment and success. By the green, it is a strong representation of nature and life.
✧ blue candle: The color of mysteries, serenity, interiorization and protection. She is a friend against fears and serves to quiet the environments.
✧ brown candle: Stability. Brown is the symbol of the earth, of what is solid. Fertility and minerals, wealth and youth. Often used in rituals for nature, for mother earth.
✧ golden candle: Representative of the sun and all its qualities, its supreme energy as action and masculinity.
✧ silver candle: Representative of the moon and all its qualities, linked to intuition and femininity.
• Understanding and connecting with the art of candles is a great experience to acquire within the magic. Their colors reflect their identity as well as their sizes and their potential is based on our own intuition, what we ask for. Candles are friendly for any occasion, just don't let there be shortages and excesses. The power of each requires the right measure for its correct functioning. Think, analyze, study situations and move on.
