After months of keeping El a secret, Mike finally decides to introduce her to his parents. Karen already had some suspicions about how secretive her son had been following the Christmas of 1984. It reminded her of how Nancy was acting when she first started dating Steve. What she may not have expected, was to meet the girl who was living in her basement a year prior.

And so El has dinner with the Wheelers. Nancy compliments El on her dress (which Mike gave to her), and Karen talks about how much happier Mike has seemed recently, even sharing an unfortunate anecdote every now and again, making Mike blush in embarrassment.

It was all going so smoothly, before Ted suddenly interjects, asking for someone at the other end of the table to pass down a bowl of potatoes. Absent mindedly, El uses her powers to float the bowl down the table, and land it safely next to his plate. Karen's eyes widen, as she drops her glass of wine. Ted is stunned into silence. El whispers a slight "sorry" to Mike, while Nancy suppresses a laugh, having forgotten that her parents have no clue who El is, and what she can do.
