Patrick Bateman just reads as an incredibly queer character to me. Yes, he's a bad person, but with queer rights come queer wrongs. I think he's also very internalised homophobia coded.
And a lot of men see Patrick Bateman as the ultimate alpha male; because he has the extensive workout routine and he has a lot of money and he gets all the girls. But truth is, Patrick Bateman is a huge loser. None of his coworkers or 'friends" bother to remember his name. He has this extensive skin care and workout routine but he looks the same as the other 20 forgetable guys in his office. He's also a nepo baby. His dad owns the company he works at. And he's not even straight. He treats women like objects, he only has eyes for other men.
