Speculations for TFP...

The thing I'm wondering is that do we need John and Sherlock to be in a relationship for it to not be queerbaiting*? Because, truthfully, after TLD I wouldn't want to see that at this point and time. But one thing that has occurred to me: What if we get confirmation that Sherlock is gay, bi, ace, any of it? Outright confirmation? It's not what many wanted, but I would be much more satisfied, and god, wouldn't that be a wonderful thing for Mark to have been able to do in his lifetime. The first(?) canonically acknowledged gay/bi/ace/+ Sherlock Holmes. *I hesitate to use that word, because I have my own definition as to what qualifies as queerbaiting, but I will because who am I to gatekeep the meaning of it for other people?
