Cover Your Ears - APR04/2023
Soooo I haven't drawn Alliya in a couple of years, and I might've got a liiittle too excited at the idea of drawing her again. I wanna get into doing backgrounds more, but making a Galarian Stadium was probably a bit too much to take on at once, that said it DOES look awesome, and as much trouble as the crowds gave me I did like sprinkling in a few character cameos, brings me back to Kirby Super Star how there were just random Mario characters in the audience.
But obviously the main focus here is the main bitch herself, and I'm really proud of how the team turned out. Alliya's new outfit is supposed to be like her "sporty" uniform, the one she wears for gym challenge stuff and whatnot, I love her flowy coat, massive boots, and fluffy neckpiece too much to scrap it. But this uniform is pretty awesome too, I wanted to keep a sort of punk-ish feel, like she's less of a sports celeb like Leon and more of a rock star. I in particular love her long scarf that's glittery on one side and metallic on the other, and the boots, which my friend Anima helped me design.
I had a lot of fun doing the backlighting, it was fun to work with, and the main reason she has the Lysandre shades that I wore with her in-game a few times. Scutum, her Indeedee, wasn't originally gonna be there, but I had too much fun doing the shading, and I thought it'd be hilarious if he was just standing there stoically covering his ears while everyone else is hyped out of their mind. Also, he if you're wondering why he has a bandaid, it's because in Galar trainers usually dynamax their last Pokemon, so he's already been in a bit of a scrap.
And then there's Diadem, and I loved working with the Dynamax effects, especially the sky. It's not one-to-one with any depictions of it, so I mixed a bit of the games', anime's, and manga's depictions of them. In fact, I had fun with all the lighting effects, since I usually do solid colors and shading with flat lines, and I had a lot of fun messing with things like Diadem's outline.
