I completed my annual ChairMerman Rose for Mermay. I really want to see if I can have him made into an acrylic charm.

Talking with some friends about Pokemon Villains and it popped in my head again how stupid that watch is. Not because its bad characterization as its a subtle way to show exactly how much money Chairman Rose has (which you'd expect some since gold watch but DAMN). He has more money than god if he's dropping that much on a watch.

But.

Rose could've had cutesy mon-themed plastic watches to show he's silly/quirky in spite of being basically owning Galar, a minor note to show he's not just Generic Business Office Man (and has social credit to step out of the expected norms for his image).

Rose could've had a durable watch for mountaineers (or something like that) to show he's thinking ahead about how to get stuff to last.

Rose could've had a vintage watch to show he's bragging a bit (since older stuff is fashionable) and more importantly is fine using/reusing older stuff to free up money/resources for other stuff.

Hell, Rose could've had a one-two punch of a Dynamax band modded into a Macro Cosmos brand digital watch to show how much he's focused on his company.

Instead he has the Fucking Gold Rolex(es! plural!!!) of Extreme Wealth. Even assuming he has lifetime guarantees and shit, it's likely the gaudiest and most expensive watches that he could get.

Which is why I love and hate the watch. Its so stupid.
