Saw this on Facebook and wanted to share it here.
Although, that much of a change has taken me a lot of smaller steps. It was more like:
1. "I'm not good enough."
The original thought. And I'd push myself harder and harder to try to become "good enough."
2. "I feel like I'm not good enough."
This was very important for me because it still validated that I felt this way, but it didn't keep reinforcing that I wasn't good enough. The slight change in words here was probably the most critical step for me.
3. "I feel like I'm not good enough, but that doesn't mean that I am not good enough."
This came more naturally, eventually, after the previous statement.
4. "I know this doesn't reflect my worth, but right now I feel like I'm not good enough. It's just a thought that I'm still working through, and it's okay that it is still taking time, even though that's frustrating. Maybe I should take a break from this and come back to it later."
Yoga and Y12SR helped me so much with getting to this point. (Note: this took YEARS). I never took breaks before, and I still have trouble doing that, but I can recognize how much I've grown from before.
