Hi Tumblr! This will be my first post, and hopefully not the last. Let's start then!
Disclaimer: These are just my observations. If they don't resonate with you, simply read and move on.
Natives with a Yod aspect that places Mars at the apex can struggle with controlling their anger. Since Mars governs our energy, it’s important for them to find productive outlets—such as sports or other physical activities—to help manage these impulses. This same aspect may also indicate challenges in dealing with sexual energy.
Saturn-Moon hard aspects in a natal chart—particularly the square—can be quite challenging. Individuals with these placements often struggle with depression and frequently experience difficulties in their relationship with their mother. One of the hardest aspects to have.
Another challenging aspect is having hard Sun-Saturn aspects. Individuals with these placements may experience tension with father figures at home, authority figures or bosses at work, and, if they are female, with husbands or boyfriends in romantic relationships. It’s as though these individuals are constantly expected to be the “good girl,” always obedient. However, if they fail to meet those expectations, they often encounter the harshest or most brutal reactions. This aspect also brings late marriages, especially for women.
Individuals with Mercury at 29 degrees in Aries often struggle with controlling their anger and often swear frequently.
Individuals with Neptune in the 2nd house often have trouble keeping track of their belongings—keys, phones, wallets, and the like—and end up losing them.
Individuals with at least two Leo placements in the 10th house often take immense pride in their work, career, and social standing, sometimes coming across as overly egotistical.
When someone has both Virgo and Taurus stelliums in their chart, it often makes them overly strict, stubborn about their rules even though the rule doesn't mean a thing and very hard to please.
Individuals with a North Node conjunct Chiron are destined healers. But first, they must confront a profound wound connected to the sign and house where their Chiron is located.
Pluto conjunct Mercury in the 5th house can indicate that a person might have several romantic partners at once and is skilled at keeping it hidden. This, however, depends on the sign involved. For example Sagittarius is perfect for this. But maybe Taurus would not want to change their partner so they would be overly obsessive with one person.
People with Mars in 12th house, again this depends on the sign, but most probably having very hard time with showing their anger. They might get scared easily. This works very well for Scorpio or Taurus. But it would be a different story for Aries Mars.
Inconjunct/Quincunx Signs & the Yod Configuration in a Chart
When there are planets involved, inconjunct signs essentially form a Yod. In astrology, a Yod, often called the "Finger of God," is a rare and powerful aspect pattern formed by three planets. It resembles an isosceles triangle, with two planets forming a sextile aspect (60 degrees apart) and both quincunxing (150 degrees) a third planet.
The inconjunct planet becomes the apex planet of the Yod and represents the focal point of tension and adjustment in a person's life. It is where the energies of the sextile planets converge and manifest in a unique, often challenging way, pushing the individual to address specific issues or life lessons associated with that planet. The apex planet in a Yod serves as a catalyst for personal growth and can indicate a significant life purpose or area of intense focus.

there aren’t a lot of posts going in depth about chart patterns except stelliums (from my knowledge) hope it’s alright if i ask you about YODS i have 3. thank you for taking the time to respond :)💗
The Yod:
✭ Consits of two planets in a Sextile, while both planets of the Sextile are in an Inconjunction to one (or possibly two) planet(s) -> this is called the apex planet
✭ Keep in mind that this is considered a minor aspect pattern, so keep the orbits pretty close, for the Sextile as well
✭ The aspect is known as the "finger of God/fate" and it's because the apex planet the finger is pointing to is an are that is fairly unnoticed or needs more recognition and awareness by the individual, almost like saying "Hey! That area here in your life is very special, pay attention to it, there is a huge lesson waiting to be realized by you!"
✭ Therefore the energy of the Yod is represented by Pluto (sudden and profound realization and transformation)
✭ To get into the meaning of the Yod, we have to look into the aspects involved here: the twp planets inconjunct the apex planet can make this kind of a gray area in the individuals life, meaning that it needs lot's of adjustment and creative work to deal with the disagreement that is created between the three planets here
✭ Thus the apex planet, it's meaning and influence on the individuals life is often unrealized by either missed timing, unawareness, self sabotage, etc.
✭ The Inconjunction is represented by Virgo energy, meaning that the awareness that is brought to the apex planet is done by high awareness, reconstruction and searching for alternative methods of how to work with a problem and find a solution.
✭ The apex planet and it's 'base/Leg' (meaning the two planets forming the sextile) are activated by transits, progressions, eclipses, etc. -> here we get to the sudden changes that will happen in ones life and that can be anything: new people, relationships/friendships, new conditions and circumstances in your life , new situations, etc.
✭ Here we get to the part the Yod is known for: sudden changes that will force you to be highly aware of what is happening with you in your life/in your environment and how it influeces you
✭ With that being said, the apex planet is not only to be looked at when it's activated: the activation of the planets of the yods are only here to further push awareness as it brings change the true lesson here is to look at the apex planet and reinvent it
✭ What is meant be 'reinvention'? As I've mentioned before, the Inconjunction is an aspect formed by two planets that have absolutely nothing in common. As the apex planet is very much pressured here, it requires searching for new ways to make meaning out of the apex planet, so initiatives, and to succesfully integrate the area it represents in your life -> usually, the task here is to look at the archetype of the planet involved and to consider the alternative ways of how to live the energy out/use it, as the new ways of interpretation will grand the individual more flexibility and adaptability in the area of the apex planet in their life -> it's important to work with the apex planet continuously
✭ The apex planet basically has to transform it's meaning to the individual and thus the effect of the apex planet will differ from that point on and be views in a completely new light
✭ This actually reinforced the importance of the Yod's 'mission' and how it's tight to ones spiritual journey and believes, because the individual will most likely realize the significane of the apex planet and how lot of events in their life have pointed to the fateful turn of outer events and inner, personal changes
✭ The mission looks different for everyone of course, but generally it says that when outer planets are involved, it's more about your evnironment and your place in it and with inner planets it effect more directly your psyche and personal state of being
✭ also: it's not only important to look at your the planets, signs and houses involved, but also the houses rulers for a more in depth insight of where the Yod will have an influence on you and what areas in your life are involved
✭ The Yod pattern is considered very powerful, because it can make someone aware of their 'calling', but this calling doesn't have to be quintessentially good, keep that in mind.
Are you familiar with yods? If so would you mind giving a bit of an explanation or a description of how this might affect someone's life overall. I have 3 and I am definitely overwhelmed 🙃
Yod Aspect Pattern in Astrology
A Yod aspect pattern is by definition is a challenging configuration of very strong energy. It represents a significantly fated aspect pattern denoting a special mission or destiny in life. Where we bring things all together. The manifestation of the Yod is the goal vs two opponents/competitors. This configuration is happening between 3 Planets.
The “goal”/main planet will be the Apex planet. It is the “action point” where all the energy is focused. The two other planets/competitors are forming a sextile to each other, but shooting quincunx’s [150 degrees] towards the apex planet.
Think of it like this: The “apex planet” is Harry Potter. The two “opponent planets” are Malfoy and Tom Riddle. Malfoy and Tom Riddle get along [even if they do share awkward hugs] but they’re dead set on giving Harry a hard time in life.
As you can see above, The Apex Planet here is Saturn. So the native’s goal in life is to be disciplined, Successful, hard-working so as to gain prestige, security, ambition, etc. A sextile is a positive aspect that creates energy. So between Venus and Neptune, this manifests as passionate, caring, sensitive, and an imagination that can bring things of value into their lives. The quincunxes, [often described as being between a rock and a hard place.] take this heightened energy and raise the vibration even further.
What typically occurs first is the negative manifestation.
The hard aspect both Venus and Neptune are making towards the apex planet [Quincunx/ inconujcution] creates this and it manifests through the apex planet [Saturn]. Saturn then comes under incredible stress and tension and must release it somehow. This will be experienced as a continual build-up then release of tension. The way this manifests between Venus, Neptune, and Saturn would be delusions and naivety. An inability to see the truth in people because of lack of structure, discipline, or habits in over-indulgence [Venus= pleasures, Neptune= addictions, Saturn in hard aspect= lack of structure]. Another manifestation could be frigidity in love, lack of broader thinking or imagination, inability to enjoy pleasures associated with love, and/ or an inability to sympathize or be sensitive to others.
The goal?
Is for the native to rise above the challenges and evolve the soul. The native can only get to the positive manifestation of Saturn [success, prestige, security, safety,] through being passionate in their goals while being realistic, but also attentive and sensitive towards themselves and others. By being open to imaginative thinking along the way [Venus/Neptune].
Whatever the apex planet is is what the Native’s fated goal to reach in life. A karmic debt. In, this life the mission is to perfect the skills associated with the Planet and utilize it in a beneficial way that helps themselves and others. If Saturn, Discipline. If Jupiter, spirituality hope, joy,. If Moon, nurturing, and intuition. If Mars, drive, fearlessness, and ambitions, etc. Do you have a Yod in your chart? Finding out can help you figure out where major challenges lie, but also the key to solving them.
how does a yod in synastry and composite play out? thank you for always taking the time to answer questions! deeply appreciated honey ~~
Hey!! 💕💕 Thank u for sending it in!! 💕
[Below Cut: Friendly Introduction to Yod - Yod in Composite and Synastry ⧊]
Friendly Introduction to Yod
For those who don’t know a Yod is like a long isosceles triangle (as opposed to Grand Trine that’s a big equilateral triangle).
You’ll have two quincunx (150′) pointing to one placement (apex). Usually (*if you’re using astro.com) these quincunx are dotted green lines (since its a minor aspect, so you might not notice them as fast as your major aspects!). The two placements making the quincunx to the apex, will then have one sextile (60′) as the base.
What’s important here is the placements themselves. What are the planets involved? In what signs/modality? Think of the two planets making the sextile (base) as their own character, with their own individual story lines.
They’re two placements that has their own hardship, love, job, life, background that’s different from each other. Yet for some reason, they’re connected by this urge for progression, something different. Something that will come to change their life (issa movie plot).
That’s where the Apex placement comes in. Walking straight into the room like the love of their life and the greatest change they had wished for. Both base placements contest to get closer (and possibly date) the Apex, one might do something out of ordinary (put themselves out there) to stand out.
They share this commonality now, in the Apex’s appearance. Although they still have their own respective lives, this sextile is the underlying presence/acknowledge of each other at the back of their head (in relation to the Apex placement) in their individual lives.
The context of time, like ‘oh shit Apex placement is ✈️ to go live in another country soon’ urges them to feel like they should get a move on quickly. The quincunx creates a little more tension, the base placement’s competition is less about each other and more about the challenge of context, time, progression and either moving too fast or too slowly in reaction to the Apex.
What this means is, sometimes one of the base placement might take initiative but it’s rash, less thought-out. Causes conflict. And the other base placement didn’t react in time, missed the opportunity. Feels left out (it’s all about mental discomfort, than like physical action/execution of actions)
The Yod aspect Apex placement is both the stimulant for the base planet to better themselves, kind of like an encouragement like ‘hey this will get better’ (passive support).
But it’s also the one being pushed/pressured/pursued and progresses away from the base planets (the base’s hopes/dream/wishes are placed on the Yod placements, making them feel like they have to move faster etc. Move more, active pressure as well as support from the base placements causes tension and also growth.)
What both base planet didn’t consider is the discomfort it might cause the Apex placement. The tension makes everything kind of heated/frustrated between them. The Apex is the mid-point of the tension, you can kind of see this love triangle as pretty dysfunctional.
What this means for the Actual Person Who Has A Yod is that they often tend to feel like they’re missing something, like they could gain it if they just experiment around/take action to remedy that. Usually it just leads to a suppressed or dysfunctional feeling, things just aren’t working out the way they wanted it to– the ‘break through’ isn’t coming like they thought they would (desire a sense of ‘epiphany’).
It’s because they’re reacting too rashly or too slowly, or like they didn’t take into consideration their natural response to tension (the consequences of actions) as well.
The key to balancing the Yod is to look at the direct opposition from the Apex planet. Straight down, just like how you cut an isosceles into 2 right-angle triangles. If the person could ground themselves down there, and build a more promising reaction/relationship with the base placements.
If the base placements could learn when and how is the right time to react/work together, instead of going too fast and too quickly. The shift in the dynamic is that all three placement is going to gain more of an equal share in power together. Everyone becomes self-empowered individual in their own right, and this helps the Actual Person Who Has The Yod as well.
For the Person Themselves (Who Has The Yod) – look towards learning your lessons, be patient with yourself and timing things just right. Think of it as a metronome. You’re working with the beat for guidance, don’t go off track or fluster when you mess up a little, just concentrate on getting back on the beat again and finishing the song.
Yod in Composite and Synastry
For composite chart it’s easier to see what the problem is. Referencing the above, there’s an individually mirrored strive for change/progression together (at the apex) which can help fuel desire and co-operation (collaboration).
But it also points to a possibility of conflict and mental discomfort, particularly not feeling accepted by each other or like the other can’t see their vision (doesn’t approve of their method). Especially if they don’t catch themselves (timing, getting caught off guard).
Once again, look towards the mid-point between the two sextiles for grounding/resolution in the Yod aspect. If there’s a planet directly opposite to the Yod then that’s great. Remember that what we’re trying to do here is balance, distribute power between all three equally so that one don’t wield all the power and the other two aren’t left being passive.
As for Synastry, the person there’s a bit more variable here. Either one person has 2 planets in the aspect and 1 from the other, but the easiest way to talk about this is to look at the person who holds the Apex placement.
The tension is going to be pulled towards the Apex, and if that Apex placement is the only one from the person– that generally leads to the energy of their partner pursuing the Apex person/acting as the active force in both pressuring and restricting them.
If the Apex placement has one of the base position, and their partner has the other base. The Apex person may hold the power here. The power-dynamic might be shifted to be reliant on them. This isn’t necessarily a good thing since they can feel like they’re the one who’s more active of the two, the one carrying the weight.
Either way, it’s pointing to a very potent relationship that could be good if the individual learn when to take up the steps and balance it out. Look towards the mid-point between the sextile and encouraging balance in the placements involved. Learn to distribute power evenly between yourself.
Ending Ment
I hope this has been a helpful guide!! 💕💕 Thanks for asking!! 💕💕
Hello! How does a Yod formed by Venus and Neptune with the Moon as the apex planet manifest and what lessons does it teach the person?
Hello!
-> This is highly dependent on the houses, as it will show you which area in your life will be transformed and changed. With the Moon as the apex planet, you can expect frequent and profound change, at best it'll get you closer to who you truly are and what you need and are subconsciously led by in life. This Yod wants to bring you closer to your soul, your essence. The two planets forming a sextile are bearing a lot of creative energy, they are like partners, enjoying and wanting to collaberate, but the inconjunctions they form to the Moon are blocking them in that way. They want to channel and manifest their energy and creativity through the apex planet (Moon).
-> With Neptune and Venus together we can have quiet literally a lot of creative ideas and lots of imagination that wants to find an outlet, preferably with some sort of purpose, as in attaching your feelings to it, or possibly healing through it. The awareness of the beautiful illusion of beauty and love that the sextile holds can add to finding purpose and pouring ones heart into actively trying to create something out of this spring of heart and creativity can either add to the process of coming closert to yourself or healing even. The Moon here will have to adjust to the need of teh two sextile planets, as they both form an incojunction to it, so any change and new insights that come with trying to channel and manifest the sextile energy can have a very strong impact on your personality.
-> It might not always be easy and feel painful, in the end, the Moon is our most vulnerable part, and having it in a harsh aspect to the planet of union and the planet of unconditional love can feel frustrating, but it might be the selflesness or hope (often illusion with Neptune, so even if it's a sextile, prepare to get disillousioned once in a while), that ultimately brings you closer to emotional clarity: realizing what the heart really wants and what the soul needs. Self-sabotage is a common theme in Yod aspects, but I'll say that with the Moon involved as the apex this can be very common here, as we usually do everything to protect the Moon and to fulfill its needs.
-> Also: with the Moon as the apex chances are one will have to face issues that stem from childhood/relationship with mother figure or parental figures, which manifestes negatively in the individual, be prepared to have to check on your emotional patterns
Again, the houses the planets sit in will show you where this Yod pattern will manifest in your life, these areas might be filled with 'sudden' surprises and profound changes, these areas can become a big focal point in your life!
I wanted to ask about Yods? I have 2 in my natal chart. I've heard they're meant to show your life purpose, and fate but I couldn't find much on the internet about it.
One of my yods has an Apex point at my 23 degrees Leo North Node (7th house) , and the 2 base planets are my 24 degrees Sun in Capricorn (12th house ) and 24 degrees Jupiter in Pisces (2nd house).
maybe if you could help me out with interpreting this one I'd be able to try looking into my other one as well. I feel like since the Apex point is my north node here this could help me figure out to move towards it?
Thank you so much for your time and energy! ♥️
Hello!
With a yod in your chart it’s important to look at your overall chart (shape, dominants) to see how energy is directed and manifested. Since a yod is said to point to a ‘life mission’, it’s good to see how it connects to your angles, especially Ascendant and MC. I think with NN as the apex point this yods energy can feel especially nervous and rigid, the yod aspect is known to even forcefully push the native into the direction they have to take and to manifest as unpleasant situations and events that at best will reinforce the individuals believes and spirit to follow their path. Your apex point symbolizes the self, the ego in connection to others and thus can feel selfish and unjust or manifest as impulses to prioritize the self or to surround the self with people that value you more, or lead relationships as a reflection of pure joy, love and freedom of self expression. The NN is an area we have not explored yet, so moving towards your NN and trusting that it’s the right thing can ultimately feel very scary and overwhelming. With sun in quincunx it could feel like a path you can’t identify with, with Jupiter in quincunx it might feel selfish and not genuine enough at times, it can challenge one part of your growth, as jupiter represents our personal expansion, this can manifest as a battle of ethics and values and how to readjust them. It can transform into feelings of shame and restriction and not being able to follow ones dreams. Ultimately this could call for reinventing the self and also empathize trust in the self and the unknown. You might feel strongly pulled to grow into your higher self and as the north node can represent your karmic journey/lesson, this can feel like an almost painful urgency.
I just realized recently my boyfriend has a yod with Neptune in Capricorn at the apex, and Jupiter in Leo/Mars in Gemini being the other two planets involved. I'm still trying to understand how this might play out for him.
