could I please get relationship headcanons for oz and gilbert(pandora hearts), tatsumi (akame ga kill), allen and yu kanda (d gray man), teru (hanako kun), hiei (yu yu hakusho), licht, tsubaki (servamp) and arthur (fire force)? thank you!
For anime only watchers of Akame ga Kill be aware that the manga had a quite different ending in store for Tatsumi than the Anime.
🐲Over his time as part of Night Raid Tatsumi has learned to reserve affection and kindness only for friends and allies and none for his enemies. So either you are part of Night Raid or a civilian who strongly opposes the corruption of the state and rebel in quiet ways in order to not get caught or executed. With the sheer amount of corruption that happens daily behind not even closed doors it is understandable though why Tatsumi quickly grows protective of you. Even if you shouldn't be an official member of Night Raid you are in grave danger all because you are his lover. That's why he strongly advocates for you to live in their hideout even if your face shouldn't be plastered on wanted posters all over the city. Better safe than sorry as you will be killed if your connections to Night Raid should be revealed as you cannot count on soldier nor even your own family to stand up for you. Within the hideout itself other members welcome you though some are wary of you for justified reasons as you could be a spy. Tatsumi is the one who stands up for you though against those judging eyes. Due to the uniqueness of the situation you are forced sooner than later to already live under the same roof as him.
🐲Violence and blood are daily business for Night Raid and it leaves mental scars on everyone. It's especially jarring for Tatsumi at the beginning even though he participates just as much to protect his friends. Whatever he witnesses though that may haunt him inside he won't reveal to you. He cannot indulge in memories only stained in blood and death, especially not when with you. All trauma that he may endure he covers up with a smile as he wishes to enjoy what little of normalcy and happiness he has left when he is with you. The more heated things get, the more there are cracks in his armor though and sometimes you notice. Even when you bring it up to him though he shakes his head even when his hands start shaking whilst he holds yours. He doesn't want to talk about it. Eventually everyone would break under those circumstances though and eventually he finally snaps and falls into your arms, sobbing about the friends that he has lost and his fear of losing you too. Even the purest man breaks and Tatsumi manages to simply endure longer than others could do. His burdens are not yours to carry so he shields you from everything and anything as much as he can.
🐲That growing paranoia leads to increased clinginess when he is not on heists. Time with you is always precious but the more he is thrown into a world filled with death, the more he realises just how sacred it really is. Every day he is afraid that he won't return or that he will return to your corpse and so he starts to spend whatever time he has with you. Even if neither of you can show your faces in the city anymore he will simply find other activities he can do with you. As the hideout lies deep within the forests, he likes to pluck flowers whenever he finds them growing somewhere and gifts them to you. When your face is known to the government and you cannot step into the city anymore he tries to cheer you up by trying to recreate your favorite dishes in restaurants and bakeries you used to visit with mixed success. Yet happy times never last as Tatsumi realises that Incursio slowly starts to take control of him, eventually robbing him of his human body but not his mind as he turns into a dragon. Yet when this fate befalls him he doesn't let you go as he instead whisks you away into the sky and takes you far away from the city as he becomes a dragon knight and you the princess he protects.
Allen Walker
🔴Timcanpy is without even needing an argument the biggest supporter that Allen has and that before and after he has gotten in a relationship with you. The golemn has been encouraging him since Allen has developed feelings for him and his little, golden friend was the first one he entrusted that secret to. That being said, Timcanpy isn't a blind supporter. Allen tends to be delusional at times whilst the golemn isn't so Timcanpy also won't hesitate to punish the exorcist if he isn't thinking clearly to knock him out of the wrong thought process. Whether Allen would have wanted to keep the relationship a secret or not isn't a relevant question as his crush on you has been blatant for quite some time hence why all of his other friends are rooting for him and pretty much are just waiting for him to tell you how he feels. So both of you are crowded by pretty much everyone- besides Yu that is who believes such a thing to be beneath him- the moment you two are a thing. It's all within good intentions but Allen does get a bit overwhelmed after a while and tries to excuse the both of you. He wants his friends to give the two of you some room to breathe- especially if you are overwhelmed too.
🔴That Allen is a big eater is really no secret and whilst he may get somewhat shy when with you, he doesn't change his nature. A lot of times when the both of you are outside and stroll through the city you inevitably end up in a restaurant or a bakery whenever his stomach announces its emptiness. You may fear for your wallet when you witness just how bottomless his stomach seems to be but Allen refuses to let you pay. In fact he not only pays for his meals but also for yours and he happily shares bites with you if he notices that you are interested in his plates. Doesn't matter if you are s good, mediocre or terrible cook- Allen loves it when you prepare food for him. It could be the most simple meal known to mankind and he'd still enjoy it as if someone were to serve him something prepared by a professional chef. The fact that you took your time to make something for him- even if you shouldn't be the best in cooking- already means a lot to him and additionally Allen isn't picky with his food. As a child there were times he didn't even know if he would get a meal and travelling around with Cross has also helped him to develop an iron stomach.
🔴He's quite self-conscious of his left arm as his parasitic Innocence has changed it into something not human. Whilst this arm has been the reason he was able to defend Akuma, it has also been reason for others to stay away from him or give him judging looks. So at the beginning of the relationship he always tries to hide its sight from you, fearing a similar reaction from you. It takes a bit before he is willing to let you take a better look at his arm and even touch it as it not only looks different but even feels different from the texture of his skin. Eventually he grows more comfortable when alone with you. In public he still wears gloves and clothes with long sleeves but when both of you are alone he rolls up his sleeves or touches you with his left hand without any hesitance. You definitely notice that Allen is quietly touch-starved though as he is more handsy than he himself perhaps realises. He constantly squeezes your hand when you are close, often leans against you when both of you are sitting next to each other and likes to brush his hands over your shoulders or your back when the two of you are simply walking. In fact he would probably get slightly anxious if he wouldn't be able to.
Kanda Yu
💙After having taken about half an eternity to even be willing to confess to you, most people even within the Order remain unaware that the two of you are even a couple to begin with. The last thing that Yu wants is for other Exorcists to swarm you and him and ask questions about your relationship. Not only because it would be an annoying hindrance but also because he isn't particularly fond of the thought of others surrounding you as he is quite territorial despite his cold appearance. You cannot expect him to be the overly affectionate type to begin with but in public sometimes you feel like he is treating you like a stranger. That impression isn't completely unjustified as Yu can be very harsh with you but there are always two sides of a story. What you don't notice and what he doesn't want others to notice either is that there are subtle signs. He's looking at you whenever no one is watching him, blue eyes following your every movement like a hawk. Anyone who gets too close to you or who makes you uncomfortable gets chewed out by him later as he is all cold venom towards them and they don't even know what they did wrong. They only know that Yu somehow always finds something to criticise.
💙Not all secrets can remain buried forever and when the day eventually arrives where news of his relationship with you leak, Yu wishes to grab you and disappear. That is not possible though as soon people like Lenalee, Lavi and Krory follow him around to congratulate him and question him when and how he managed to get together with you. He doesn't entertain any of their questions and he demands of you to do the same as he doesn't need you to fuel their flames. Just do like him and ignore them. Where there was previously distance now there is almost forced proximity as now he gets annoyed when other Exorcists start hanging around you simply because they hope you will spill the tea. As a result of that he starts shielding you from curious people as he manages to scare people away better than you are by being unnecessarily harsh with them. Even worse are any Exorcists jealous of you because they liked him. To them he is cruelest as he rejects them right then and there the moment he becomes aware of the glares of envy they give you or the way they whisper behind your back. He doesn't tolerate any unjustified disrespect against you.
💙You will never get a warm and affectionate boyfriend in Yu but what you still get is unwavering loyalty- even if it is hidden behind a frosty and occasionally quite blunt exterior. He doesn't do as much as blink when other people try to impress him and in return he expects the same from you and gets territorial and very strict with you when you give any reaction. If you are an Exorcist then he starts training with you for hours, forcing you to move and fight over and over again until your legs are shaking from exhaustion. You could be killed by an Akuma in battle and you have no time to take a break then so he won't give you any either. Deep down he is scared of the possibility of losing you which is why he frequently insists for the two of you to always be put together so that he can be there and protect you if things should get difficult for you. You are the only person allowed to touch his hair without him immediately pulling out his sword and threatening to cut off your arm though he is quite stern in reminding you that you may only do it when the two of you are alone. Then he may even allow you to brush it in the mornings though you are forbidden from braiding it into silly pigtails.
Arthur Boyle
🤴You could not have gotten a more delusional partner than Arthur but rejecting him is about impossible due to the fantasy world that he chooses to live in. He is a Knight and you are the prncess that he needs to court and win over and so Arthur goes on countless heroic quests to win your heart over. He slays dragons for you, gifts you the world's greatest treasures and serenates you. Meanwhile you can often only look on in confusion as he hands you a shard of glass and insists that it is a rare gemstone he claimed for you whilst fighting off an evil wizard but over time you simply learn to stop questioning it. As you are his chosen princess you often end up being dragged into those delusional shenanigans of his and everyone from his Fire Station has simply adviced you to give up on teaching him better and just entertain him. When it comes to being able to motivate Arthur you are often the person everyone ends up seeking out. After all often you only need to play your part as the princess to fire Arthur up and his powers increase significantly whenever you ask of him as your Knight to slay the enemies in your name. Give him a quest and he is literally fire and flame to fulfill your wish.
🤴His affection is very different due to the fantasy world he lives in but it is also very obvious to everyone around him that he loves you. Ever single time both of you enter any room he struts in front of you like the proud knight that he believes himself to be and announces your presence as if expecting everyone to kneel down and give you the respect you deserve as a princess. You can only mutter apologies as you follow, face buried in your hands as you try to ignore the embarrassment that you feel whenever it happens. Sometimes you are awoken in the earliest mornings to him shouting your name from outside, announcing that he will depart for another noble request and wishes to receive a token as a good luck charm from you. You could literally hand him anything and he would treat it like treasure. As you eventually learn to indulge him in his reality you eventually end up gifting him blessing he actually carries with him in actual battles. You gift him a hair tie once and he hasn't stopped wearing it since. Another time you gift him an old bracelet of yours and he doesn't even take it off when she showers. With the blessing of his princess Arthur cannot lose to anyone.
🤴One thing that you also notice very quickly though is that Arthur- for the lack of better words- is an idiot. There is not a single thought process going on behind those delusions and so you see yourself forced to become the brain of the relationship whilst he becomes the glamor and the muscles of it. Whenever decision-making is involved that reqires an actual thought process you can often already see the gears in his head malfunctioning and so you take over before he makes a stupid decision. Arthur takes offense in that but by now you have learned how to successfully redirect his focus to something else so you often give him a mission he can focus on and fulfill whilst you take over the thinking. It may sound weird but when you get injured, Arthur thrives. Only when it's harmless injuries though as he then believes that it is his time to shine. One time whilst you were accompanying him on one of his quests you slipped and hurt your ankle. Arthur spent the rest of the day carrying you around on his back, positively glowing as he got to fulfill his duties as a knight. He still brought you to a doctor later on so you could be checked over by a professional as he wouldn't have been of much help.
Oz Vessalius
⛓️Though Oz may be the rightful heir to a noble family and has received throughout his life immaculate teaching, his sheltered upbringing has made him rather naive to the way things work in the world outside of tea parties and castles. Throw then in his inability to express his vulnerability to other people and confess to his true emotions and you have a very rocky beginning of a relationship despite the thick charm Oz puts on. He may know how to recite poetry and how to woo you with flattering words but all of it counts little in the face of his struggles to ever let you in fully. His terror of being rejected doesn't allow him for a long time to express to you how he truly feels and it puts a huge strain on the relationship as he doesn't want to open up fully when with you. Despite not being able to let you in, Oz is still terribly possessive. He gets territorial when you receive too much attention from others and gets spiteful if he realises that you enjoy it. That leads him to act on whims rather than thinking everything through and his rash behavior has led to a few unpleasant incidents where it was left up to Gilbert and Alice to fix the mess he has left behind.
⛓️Yet even in the face of such recklessness the fact remains that Oz keeps the tendency to put himself in danger to get hurt. Even if in a relationship there are times where he struggles to believe that the care you show for him is genuine as he grew up in a position where people constantly tried to butter up to him all whilst secretly planning to control him or to gain his power. Perhaps putting himself in harm's way and observing how you react to it and care for him afterwards is an almost soothing balm for a heart that slowly starts to open up. Such injuries he allows to be inflicted deliberately whenever he is in doubt even if he is aware that it hurts your heart severely whenever he does so. That tendeny of his slowly fades away though as time passes and he learns to trust you and to truly believe that you love him. Don't misunderstand, if he has to get hurt in order for you to remain unharmed then he will still do so without a doubt. It's just that now he doesn't just stand there and let himself get hurt anymore. He also never stops feeling reassured though when he still ends up injured and you fuss over him. Old habits die hard after all, no matter how much better he may get.
⛓️Self-indulgence remains present within the relationship though. Now that he is no longer bound to his duties as a heir and gets to experience the outside world, Oz pretty much drags you along on his journey to satisfy all of his whims, clinging to your side throughout it all. He enjoys sweets and black tea with you. He attends festivals with you that he was never able to visit when he was a child and had to learn how to be a proper heir. And you are left with teaching him how the real world works where not everything is served to him on a silver plate. It's that naivety which often baffles you the most as Oz has been trained in so many skills except common courtesy. He sometimes forgets that he has to pay for his meals now instead of receiving everything simply because he asks for it. He gets upset when he can't have something and you have to pull him to the side and remind him that he is no longer in a castle where servants cater to his every wish. The skills he has learned though he still uses to impress you. He paints paintings of you. He writes poetry for you and serenades you. He plays music on the violin or on the piano for you and he dances with you.
Gilbert Nightray
🐦⬛Gilbert may appear to be quite submissive and anxious but his obsession solidifies itself in the dependency that he tries to foster by serving you as devotedly as he does. One of his biggest fears is not being needed and to counter that he clings fiercely to the people that he loves. It is the case with Master Oz already and it now reaches out to you as well the moment you become a new target of affection and obsession. That meek facade manages to initially fool you quite efficiently though as indeed Gilbert can be incredibly timid and a terrible crybaby, especially if there are cats involved. But what you also notice from a very early point on is his sheer eagerness to serve you and help you whenever and however he can. His duties as a servant have taught him after all how to clean, to wash and to cook and whenever he visits you he immediately starts taking over those tasks whilst insisting that you can sit back and enjoy the tea and the sweets that he prepares for you. Obviously you reject this at one point as you insist that you can do it yourself, unaware just how anxious he gets whenever you dismiss his services. He needs to do something for you as he otherwise fears that you could leave him.
🐦⬛Gilbert grows somewhat more bold over time even though the act of a simple kiss always manages to make him blush. Initially he hovers around, only a few steps away from you as golden eyes observe your surroundings. As time passes he starts sneaking closer and closer until eventually he trails right behind you, his hands hovering over your back. He wants to be touched but often wants you to initiate it. He may not say it outright but as he is bad in concealing his emotions, it really isn't difficult for you to realise what it is he wants. Not with the way he keeps on staring at you and reaching out his hands before retreating them back to his side. In public he may be inclined to partially restrain himself but when the both of you are alone he often properly clings to you without letting go for a long time. It can be as endearing as it can be suffocating as you shouldn't expect to walk away anytime soon. When the two of you have your privacy he feels less threatened as there are no other people who could try to steal you away from him. He constantly needs to be reassured as well, needing to hear it from you that his presence in your life could never be replaced.
🐦⬛His devotion is his obsession and that paranoia to eventually not be needed anymore often pushes him if he feels threatened by your growing independence or due to the presence of someone else in your life who helps you with tasks that he usually does for you. Less by threatening the other person- though that certainly isn't out of question- but more by pushing himself to a limit which he then proceeds to ignore. If someone else is good then he will be even better to have you realise that ultimately it is still him that you need and no one else. His anxiety does lead to increased smoking or to him nervously chewing on his lips or fingers until he tastes blood. Due to that desire to plant dependency in you despite the gnawing feeling of guilt Gilbert cannot help himself when feeling delight when you are struck with an injury or sick and need to rely on him more as a result of your limited capabilities to look out for yourself. It's horrible and wrong but he just can't stop that light feeling in his chest when he tends to you and you need to rely on his help for almost every single task. It gives him a purpose and the reassurance he so solely craves all the time.
Licht Jekylland Todoroki
🎹What an utter embarrassment he just tends to be. It remains a mystery how one man can fold so badly when with you. Whenever you receive letters from him, he sends you a mail or he even calls you he always sounds so confident and assured whilst demanding from you to wait for him or to do as he says. The moment the two of you actually meet though words fail and his entire thought process malfunctions. It's like your presence overwrites whatever deluded confidence he usually has, leaving him stuttering and failing to be. It's something Licht refuses to acknowledge even in the moment, getting defensive even as he nearly trips over something. He isn't mad at you though for reducing him to such a pitiful state. In fact he believes it to be proof of your radiance which is why he is all the more determined to overcome this weakness to truly prove himself as the only one for you. To his credit, eventually he doesn't fumble as badly anymore. Still, there will always be signs of his nervousness even as he learns to behave like a normal human being when with you. Small physical signs like sweaty palms when he holds your hands or a thundering heartbeat that refuses to slow down when he is with you.
🎹Licht wants you to remain oblivious to the existence of vampires as he sees it as his duty as your angel to ensure that you life an oblivious and happy life without being aware of the existence of such dirty creatures. Above anything else though he is actively praying that you will never get to know Hyde as this man is the one living agony in his life he actually cannot get rid off. Hyde after all is awfully interested in you merely because he thinks that it is so utterly amusing how Licht actually short-circuits when you are with him. Licht threatens him with death and violence to never ever approach you or even breathe in your direction but promises are meant to be broken. Additionally it is quite difficult to hide such a secret from you as he actively hunts down vampires. Hyde delights in the moment where he finally gets to introduce himself to you properly and he is already spilling all the tea by sharing with you every embarrassing thing that Licht did after he fell so helplessly in love with you. Before he can continue though, Licht is already attacking him and you can only watch in bewilderment as the boy who claims to be so refined beats his servant up.
🎹If you ever used to think that there is no such thing as too many presents you will change your opinion once Licht starts drowning you in gifts of his own. After all as his partner- the partner of an angel- he expects you to look the part as you must look as perfect as he does. So you are dragged to Harajuku where he spends the entire day with you and buys you whatever he deems to be fit for you. You do get to have a say in it all but if your fashion choice doesn't quite fit the aesthetic he usually goes for, he will tell you so very bluntly. The both of you have to match after all. Also, he will hold a grudge if you are being nice and affectionate with Hyde who delights a bit too much in driving Licht mad. You tend to be appalled by the violence he directs against the vampire servant and Hyde uses that as an effective shield as Licht feels actually ashamed when you look at him as if he isn't the angel he believes himself to be. He may try to ignore you as he hopes you will return to him and apologise but he is genuinely unable to separate himself from you for too long so he keeps on seeking you out whilst acting like you are the one following him when it is the other way around. Just let him have this win as he is too stubborn.
Tsubaki
🦊I have my doubt that a relationship with Tsubaki is going to be one based on mutual consent as this man simply takes what he wants with no consideration for what others are feeling. You have peaked his interest and therefore he has whisked you away to have you all to himself. Most likely you are going to feel terrified of a man who seems to have a handful of screws loose yet your fear only thrills and fascinates the vampire more. There is this thing he does though which resembles cuteness aggression only much more scary than that as he is the one doing it. It actually hurts when he is doing it too and whether that is intended because he is sadistic or due to his strength doesn't matter as he doesn't let go even if you tell him that he is hurting you. In fact you should probably just stay quiet as he only pulls harder when if you were to let him know that you're in pain, making you feel like he is going to tear your cheeks or rip your ear off before he finally lets go. His random outbursts of laughter are nightmare material as sometimes all you do is sit there and eat before he starts giggling and kicking his legs like a school girl watching her crush do literally anything and be amazed.
🦊As he is the only one from the Servamps who can face the sunlight without any consequences, you are stuck with him even during the daytime. In fact Tsubaki takes you very happily out simply because you suffer from paranoia and heightened anxiety when accompanied by a ticking time bomb who might murder someone whilst laughing before declaring to their corpse that they're boring now. So all he does is just walk around with you and watch you squirm as you try to stir him to more isolated places and avoid interacting and talking with most people out of a justified fear that he'll draw his katana and slice them apart. Besides that though he likes to take long walks and now he simply takes them with you though not all of those walks are only on streets. They take place on rooftops as well and whilst he may sometimes demand of you to keep up with him as he floats across rooftops whilst you crawl in snail tempo behind with shaking limbs, he eventually takes mercy. That or he is simply annoyed that you take so long and so he decides he'll just lift you up and carry you. As the sadistic prankster that he is though he is dropped you a couple of times only to catch you again.
🦊Do not ever mention his height as this is one of the few things that he is actually going to be offended about. Honestly, it is quite hard to tell when he is genuinely offended or not as he is always cackling like a maniac. However, you eventually learn to read the room and weight the atmosphere. If Tsubaki is unhappy or triggered the air is humming with tension that drills into you like millions of tiny needles. Now, Tsubaki loves scaring and pranking you. It's amusing to watch your reactions and to push your buttons until you break. He is the only one who has the right to bully and harm you though. If anyone else does the things that he is doing to you their heads will soon roll on the floor. It's less of a protective method though and more of him staking claim on his territory as you are his toy and therefore only he gets to torture you. He seems to have a fascination going on with flowers as well as you soon realise as the place where you now live with him is constantly decorated with flowers. His favorite flowers by far seem to be camellia and considering that the kanji character for his name stands for that very same flower, you are not surprised that he constantly gifts them to you.
Minamoto Teru
💛Being together with Teru guarantees attention as he is very popular amongst his peers. Not all of that attention is necessarily positive though as there are going to be those individuals jealous that he chose to love you from all possible options. Teru does his best to shield you from such envious opinions though as he already feels apologetic enough for having bestowed such sudden popularity onto you already, especially if you are naturally more introverted and not fond of crowds. Generally speaking Teru is indeed as much of a prince as Nene often describes him to be. He is kind and considerate and even though he is president of the Student Council and an exorcist who protects students from supernatural creatures he always manages to make time for you. As the one student constantly ranked best amongst anyone else when it comes to grades, you also earn yourself a private tutor who patiently helps you with the subjects you struggle with the most. You don't have to be on his level but he offers you the help as he at the very leasts wants you to be able to pass. So both of you often study together and he even creates notes for you to help you further.
💛He would like to cook for you but Kou has strongly adviced him to not go through with that plan of his. As talented as Teru is in literally anything else, cooking is his personal nemesis as he always ruins it, no matter what he does. Initially he remains stubborn and attempts to prepare something for you. After having nearly burned down the kitchen though he resigns himself to the fact that he should stay away from pots. So instead he always visits convenience stores and buys you food and snacks there. There isn't a single school day where he doesn't carry some of your favorite snacks with him and gives them to you during any breaks. Also, you have to never worry about forgetting pencils or paper again as Teru starts to always carry extra school material around with him solely to be prepared if you do end up forgetting something that you need. For that alone he becomes the hero in your eyes. You get away with more too if he should catch you doing something that he would normally reprimand other students for. Obviously you know better to abuse that privilege though as you quietly apologise and see it through to cause less trouble the next time.
💛As you are like most students in school oblivious to the supernatural activities taking place within school, Teru sees it through to keep you away from that knowledge. In his eyes there is no such thing as a good supernatural and he barely tolerates the Mokke because his sister likes them. As he gains his obsession though he gets much more stricter with all of them as he doesn't want them to cause you any troubles. As an Exorcist who even patrols during the night to ensure that everyone stays in their place, Teru doesn't get a lot of rest. Often he takes naps after school and so it isn't unusual for him to lean on you and doze off, resting a bit before he has to visit the school at night again for patrols. Tiara and Kou both have a big interest in getting to know you the moment they find out that their brother has his eyes on you. Whilst Kou keeps quiet about the supernatural for now though, Tiara nearly spoils the secret multiple times. It's only because Kou and Teru are both doing damage control and because Teru is a skilled liar that you believe that the Mokke she showed you is a plushie and not a living being not from this world.
Hiei
👁️It is going to require a lot of endurance and patience before a relationship with Hiei takes a turn for the better. You cannot count on him being an amazing boyfriend as this is a demon who abducted you simply because he didn't know how to proceed with the emotions that you make him feel. In fact no one could blame you for thinking that Hiei despises you and in some aspects that may not even be entirely off. He does despise you as you evoke feelings in him and in his mind feelings equal weakness hence why he refuses to acknowledge them for a long time. That being said from the very get-go you can expect Hiei to stalk you so much. It is a pattern that continues no matter how much time may pass. He feels more comfortable in the shadows than in the company of others and even if he should have mellowed out by that point this doesn't change. He watches you whether you eat, sleep or dream and sometimes you stir awake at night to spot just for a split second a shadow standing close to you only for the figure to disappear the moment you blink. It's partially born out of protectiveness and partially because he doesn't know how to express his feelings otherwise.
👁️There is a chance that you could wind up being taller than he is as he only stands at around 5'3". That has never been a source of insecurity for him but be aware that you shouldn't be so stupid and tease him for his smaller build. When it comes to any kind of fun and humor in general Hiei is the ultimate end boss who will take none of it. He is far too much of a no-nonsense person to take any bullshit and that can end in you being incredibly dejected and hurt if he puts his foot down and demands you to stop with any slang or jokes that he has neither the patience for nor even wants to understand. Despite his small build he is still one of the strongest demons after all and if you should dare to consider him as cute due to his height Hiei would probably reveal bits of his strength and skill to you to remind you that he could cut you multiple times in the blink of an eye if he wanted to. He hates to be referred to as cute more than anything and to debunk that statement he ends up showcasing his speed and strength more on purpose so that you stop thinking of him that way. If you won't stop though he might just resort to some intimidation as he may be small but also terrifying.
👁️As his father is a fire demon and he has inherited everything from that demon side of his parents, Hiei runs naturally hotter than other demons. He has never given that fact much thoughts until you remark it during colder nights where you seek comfort against his build as he is a source of warmth. Hiei isn't immediately confident with that much touch. He may even push you away the first time. Eventually he begrudgingly accepts your frame cuddled against his though but if you ever dare to tease him about it you can just go on and freeze. There are only a handful of people he actually allows close to you and his sister Yukina is probably the only one he allows to openly touch you. If someone like Kuwabara or even Kurama were to try he would tell them off. The downside of having a very territorial demon, I suppose. Not someone who has any interest in coddling you for the rest of your life, Hiei actually ends up teaching you how to fight. Even if you should be nowhere near his level and merely be a human who has High Spirit Awareness, he doesn't take your current weakness as an excuse for you to remain weak. He isn't gentle either as he properly pushes you so that you actually learn something.

Sometimes you pretend not to notice the signs he’d stopped by. Something moved slightly from where you know you put it or a footprint because he didn’t realize his shoes were muddy. You’d curse him a little for never taking his shoes off, but you’d be a bit frightened if he actually did. After all, it’s Hiei. He’s a demon and any of your human customs, like simply removing your shoes at the door—or in his case, window—are foreign to him.
He’d never leave the window open or forget to draw the curtains back. Hiei was hell bent against you recognizing his affections. He’d never want to be seen as soft, as human, but you plague his mind more than he will admit. He’s busy in demon world, and isn’t too fond of the human world, but you bring him back every time.
At night, he’d sneak in through the window beside your bed. His feet poised on the window ledge, his eyes fixed on you, and the sweetest smile of which nobody has ever been lucky enough to see on his face. His heart beating so fast it honestly makes him sick. He hates how weak he gets around you. It only makes him dig his heels into the dirt more. He keeps you at arms length, but checks on you frequently. He likes to do so in person when he can, but more often than not, it’s with his jagan eye.
He won’t admit his feelings unless you just figure it out on your own. He doesn’t feel like he’s the person you want, or the person you need. He hates to see you too close to Kurama or someone else, but part of him feels like you deserve somebody better than him. And if he knows this, why can’t he give you up? Why is he waiting around?
It sickens him that he doesn’t even understand himself because of you. He’s quick to bite at you for simple things, as if being mean would keep you far from the truth. And since he can’t stand how he’s afraid of what you’ll think of him, he comes when you aren’t able to perceive him or his actions at all. You’re fast asleep, a few feet away, and, at least as he believes, unsuspecting to his presence.

Hiei scowls through the glass door on your balcony, watching you slowly turn over in your bed. You’re sluggish, groggy, barely making eye contact with him before you struggle to sit up. You stumble out of your tangled blankets and wobble toward the door with a hunched-over back as though you were trying to keep your intestines from spilling out. His eyes narrow at the thought, and as soon as you unlock and slide back the door, he discreetly inhales the stale, cold apartment air that escapes, checking for the source of tell-tale copper scent.
There is an undercurrent of blood that does have him quickly tensing, but a quick look over shows that you’re not holding onto your intestines; you’re just fatigued.
And sleep deprived, by the looks of the bags under your eyes.
And dehydrated, by the looks of your chapped lips.
And—
Basically, you’re not doing well.
Even though it’s not as bad as he initially thinks, he still doesn’t have an answer for the scent of blood.
Hiei enters your studio apartment, closing the door behind him without taking his eyes off you. You crawl back into bed and sigh softly as soon as you can relax your body from its upright position. He looks around the room: clothes are scattered and there a couple of bowls are stacked on your bedside table with a few candy wrappers and opened bag of chips beside the lamp. There’s no sign of an intruder, though. He steps around the bookshelf that separates your bedroom from the rest of the space and eyes the unwashed dishes, the pillows and blankets both on the loveseat and the floor, the trashcan overrun with take-out, and the overhead fan on a low spin despite you curling under the blankets as though freezing. The faint smell of copper perfumes the room, and the snarky comment of the state of your apartment dies on the tip of his tongue as he finally realizes the source—old blood.
Ah.
It must be related to ovulation—menstruation, if he recalls correctly.
“Make yourself comfortable,” you mumble. “I don’t have much in the fridge—I think there’s some soda left, maybe ice cream, so help yourself. I’m gonna take a nap…’cause I’m sick.”
He wonders if you’re sparing him the details as though he were stupid or immature, like he would find biological functions grotesque. He doesn’t find them grotesque, just dull. He is neither disgusted nor ignorant of human reproductive biology, as ovulation and menstruation cycles are not impossible in the demon world, though perhaps less frequent and common than in humans.
Rather than correcting your (rather offensive) assumption that he hads no inkling as to why you are bedridden, Hiei turns around and exits through your balcony door.

Kuwabara looks up when Hiei lands, the excited expression on his face quickly dissolving into one of disgust and irritation.
“Oh, it’s just you, runt,” the fool huffs. “I was hoping it’d be Yukina…”
Hiei silently reminds himself of the no-killing-Kuwabara vow he made to the fox all those years ago. “Where’s Kurama?” he asks.
“Not here.”
“Obviously. Urameshi?”
“You didn’t even let me finish! It’s just me here ‘cause Urameshi and Keiko are going on a little date.” He wiggles his eyebrows dramatically. Hiei thinks they look like dancing worms and accentuate the spaciousness of his forehead. “Kurama said he needed to do something—I don’t remember what—and my sister took Yukina out for a shopping day. And Genkai…left to do something, too.”
“Your retention is astounding.”
“Hey, th—” Kuwabara frowns. “Was that a dig at me?”
Hiei resists the urge to further aggravate him, even though Kuwabara always sets himself up to be aggravated, by thinking back to you underneath warm covers and cold air, groaning in pain in the dark. If he wanted to help you, he would need to be tactful.
Which wasn’t his best quality, even after a decade of dealing with humans.
“Give me—” Hiei pauses, hearing your voice in one ear and Kurama’s in the other. “I…need coin.”
“Huh?”
“Coin. Human money.”
“Okay?”
His fingers twitch, itching for his sword. ”Give—lend me some human money.”
Kuwabara glares at him. “What do you need money for? And why should I?”
“Yes or no, fool. I don’t have all day.”
Kuwabara crosses his arms, suddenly feeling smug and big that there’s something Hiei needs that he has. “Oh-ho, is that any way to talk to your lender?”
It would be so much easier to just break in to a store and steal what he needed, but he already knew how that would go. Why is dealing with you so difficult?
Hiei scowls. “Or I could kill you and take your money.”
“As if you even could, runt,” Kuwabara retorts, rolling his eyes. “What do you need human money for, anyways? You’re not a human.”
“What does it matter?”
“It matters ‘cause it’s my money. Either you tell me why you need it, or you can go begging on the street ‘cause I ain’t giving you shit.”
Hiei clenches his jaw. Asking for help—especially from a nitwit like Kuwabara—is beneath him—and, unfortunately, it’s also one of the most difficult things he has had to do. He’d rather face an entire Dark Tournament by himself than do this.
But—he thinks of your face again, eyebrows scrunched in pain, trying to dig deeper under the blankets for relief that won’t come.
Damn it all to hell.
“…I need it…to buy things.”
“What kind of things?” Kuwabara leans closer, curiosity piqued.
Hiei briefly wonders if he could just take Kuwabara’s money. It would be so easy. So simple.
“[Name] is unwell,” Hiei finally says. “It’s her menstruation cycle. The symptoms seem severe.”
“Oh, shit, that sucks,” Kuwabara remarks. “So, what, she sent you on an errand to grab some chocolate and heating pads and shit?”
“…Yes.”
“But then why wouldn’t she just give you her wallet…” Kuwabara thinks aloud. Of course, now’s the time of all times when the gears are shifting in that oversized head of his. “Unless…unless she didn’t ask you to do this…and you’re just doing it.”
Kuwabara looks to him.
Hiei doesn’t meet his gaze.
“Oh, my god, you’re doing this out of the kindness of your own heart? You can be kind? You have a heart? The story of the Grinch is true, then… Who would’ve thought!” He bursts into laughter, cackling like a madman.
The vein on Hiei’s forehead pulses. “Forget it,” Hiei snaps. “I’ll just go kill the nearest clerk.”
“Relax, you psychopath. I’ll go with you.” He jogs to catch up with Hiei. “I like [Name], so I gotta make sure you don’t show up with something stupid that’ll upset her stomach ‘cause of your weird, uncultured and ignorant demon ass. Plus, I’m a valuable resource for you: my sister sent me out on period errands all the time. I’m a pro at this.”

It’s bright and overwhelming inside. There were aisles of all sorts of products in all shapes and sizes. There were candies, toys, medicine, pet supplies, items that he had never seen before and couldn’t fathom why humans would need them. He would give the weaker species that much; what they lacked in strength, they made up for in technological savvy—even if most of it was nonsensical. Though he will say that the system is stupid. Why would anyone simply leave all of their valuables sitting on a shelf, just waiting for the wrong person to come in and decide they would fight for it?
Kuwabara grabs a basket and walks down an aisle. “What are some of their comfort foods?”
“What the hell is a comfort food?”
Kuwabara doesn’t even spare him a glance, only sighing and shaking his head in response. It must be another illogical human concept.
“Alright, you hold this.” He drops the basket in Hiei’s hands and then starts to pile in random objects. “You’ll need this, and this—oh, fuck yeah, my sister loves this shit.”
Hiei recognizes some snacks from your apartment and others from Yusuke at Genkai’s temple, walking around with a bag in hand, open-mouthed like a slob, dropping crumbs everywhere. When Kuwabara isn’t looking, Hiei doubles up on the ones he’s seen sitting out on your kitchen countertop and the ones that Yusuke won’t share with anyone except Keiko.
The two of them continue down the aisles in this way: Kuwabara skims the items quickly and grabs whatever he thinks is necessary while the mountain in Hiei’s arms grow higher and higher. By the time they’re in front of the clerk to pay, the items are precariously stacked with different colored bags, boxes, and cans. At Hiei’s condescending confusion, Kuwabara swears they’re all necessary and, as a (cis) man and a heartless demon, they’ll never truly understand what it’s like for biology to betray you.
Hiei doesn’t know what that means, exactly, as biology is not something that can “betray”—but, sure, whatever the ugly buffoon needed so that he would pay for the items.
The next stops are three different restaurants, one where Kuwabara buys a hearty noodle dish and chicken katsu curry, another where he buys a rice soup, and lastly, a dessert shop where he buys two cups of royal milk tea and three red bean taiyaki.
(“It has to be these dishes and they have to be from these restaurants,” Kuwbara says confidently. “Always made sis feel better by the end of the meal—1000% success rate.”)
At the end of their excursion, Hiei has fifteen bags to take back. Surprisingly, Kuwabara offers to help carry them back to your apartment, but splitting the bags and walking with the oaf would be more of a pain than just doing it himself.
(More importantly, he doesn’t want Kuwabara’s stench infecting your space.)
Finally, Kuwabara tells Hiei to send you his warm wishes that you feel better, Hiei grunts his thanks. There is a little pushiness from Kuwabara to admit that he was helpful, but the best Hiei will offer him is that he wasn’t unhelpful (“for once,” Hiei adds). When Kuwabara curses him in response and tries to kick him, Hiei dodges and uses him as a stepping stool to jump onto a nearby building, smacking the dolt in the face with one of the heavier bags, the two of them parting ways with an unspoken understanding to never bring up today’s alliance again.

It takes you a few beats before you realize that the knocking is, indeed, coming from your balcony, and it takes a few beats more before you’re able to muster the energy to roll out of bed to let Hiei in.
“Just grab my spare key next time,” you mumble, pointing in some vague direction to wherever you had it stored. He doesn’t remark that this wouldn’t have been an issue had you not locked him out when he left.
You drag your feet back to bed, barely registering that Hiei has arrived with a multitude of items. It’s only when you hear shuffling and movement and plastic bags—out of character noisiness for the usual silent fire demon—that you roll over to see what he’s doing: Hiei has cleared off your coffee table and has easily lifted it up and placed it back down next to your bed. There are several bags at his feet that he’s shifting through; the more you watch him, the more you are aware of several delicious scents now permeating through your apartment.
“What are you doing?” you ask.
“Sit up.”
“No, my stomach hurts.”
“You need to eat.”
Before you can remind him that your fridge has been picked clean and that you have been in no shape to grocery shop, Hiei pulls out to-go boxes and containers and lays them out on your coffee table; he sets down a drink, a dessert, a couple bottles of pain medication, and snacks—not just any snacks, but your favorite ones.
“Where did you get all of this?” you ask incredulously.
“I bought it.”
“Bought it? With what money?”
Hiei hesitates, the twitch of his eye almost imperceptible (you’ve known him long enough to recognize his tells). “I threatened the oaf to help me,” he responds. “Now eat.” He pushes a bowl towards you.”
You smile—happily? Deliriously? You don’t know. You’ve been in so much pain for the last three days, and you’ve been in and out of sleep in the hopes that you could quickly fast-forward through this awful part of your period. You thought it would be just like any other month, maybe suffer a bit, but then you would come out of it no worse for wear.
You never expected, not even in your wildest dreams, that Hiei would reach out to Kuwabara, and that the two—despite seeing the other as a roach at best and the number one person on their hit list at worse—would coordinate for your care package.
You never though Hiei would ever do such a thing, and it isn’t because you think Hiei is heartless, as Kuwabara loves to claim, but because you didn’t think he’d know any better.
But as you’re staring at him through wincing eyes, his red gaze staring somewhere behind your ear rather than directly at you, it’s as if you’re seeing him for the first time.
He did know better—because he was observing you—because he is watching you, even when it looks like his gaze is averted.
“Thank you,” you murmur.
He doesn’t respond, but his eyes flicker to you gently—if you’re allowed to think it.
“My stomach hurts too bad to eat right now, though,” you admit. “Did you guys buy a heating pad? It’ll look like…some rectangle thing with a cord.”
Hiei finds it and passes the pad to you. With a painful inhale, you shift your body to plug the heating paid into the wall and turn it on, and then lay back down comfortably. You place it against your lower stomach and wait for it to heat up.
“It’s for the cramps,” you tell Hiei when you see him staring curiously. “The warmth helps.”
You furrow your brows after a couple of minutes; it’s barely lukewarm. After checking that you have it set to the highest temperature, you think it might be a defective one and sigh. It’s better than nothing you suppose. You’ll take a nap and let the meds kick in; afterwards, you should feel better to sit up and eat.
Breaking the quiet, Hiei says, “It’s broken.”
“You can tell?” you ask. “It’s okay. No biggie…” Your voice is heavy with exhaustion. Sleep starts to encroach, and then the bed and blankets shift—gently, if you’re allowed to think it. There’s a blossoming warmth next to you; the scent of soft sandalwood encompasses you, and you breathe it in deeply.
The pad slides off your stomach, replaced by a heated hand above your clothes. You lift your shirt so that the heat lays flat against your skin. As soon as his hand touches you, warmth spreads throughout your lower stomach, relaxing any strained and tense muscles. The pain starts to subside.

when the wanting shows (kurama x gn!reader, yu yu hakusho)
“Kurama!”
You’re surprised to see him at your door, though not half as surprised as Kurama is to find himself there. The last thing he remembered was walking home, followed by a vague memory of tugging at his collar in an attempt to ease the discomfiting heat that had crept upon him as the afternoon waned into early evening. Even now he could feel it surging through his chest, a thick, roiling heat that spilled through his limbs and weighed his crimson locks down with sweat.
“Kurama?” you repeated, your head tilting inquisitively before your eyes widened and you surged forward, a startled, “Woah!” spilling from your mouth as you caught him beneath the arms.
When had he pitched forward? Kurama couldn’t remember. He had simply been standing in your doorway one moment and slumped against your shoulder the next, his nose slotting into the hollow of your throat and his head rushing with the strength of your scent.
“Kurama, what - ?” you started, clearly alarmed, only to choke on your next breath when his lips fell slack against your skin. The heat was stifling now, suffusing his entire body but beginning to center most potently between his legs, and for the first time since he had felt the growing warmth beneath his collar, a moment of clarity stole over the fox demon.
Ah, he thought with a touch of embarrassment, even as he practically swooned into your throat. Perhaps I should have expected this.
Taking a human as a vessel had tempered much of his demonic power and instincts - Kurama had only assumed the same would be true for his biological urges. More fool, he.
“Um, Kurama - ?” He could feel your cheek warming against his brow and hear the uptick in your pulse. You were confused, certainly, and obviously concerned because of his strange behavior, but you were also flustered - flustered by his proximity, by the ticklish brush of his fringe along your jaw, by the slow, eager drag of his lips along your throat.
“My apologies,” he murmured, his palms dragging along your hips to wrap loosely around your waist. He felt your throat bob in a swallow and had to force his teeth into the meat of his cheek to prevent himself from sucking a mark into your skin. “I shouldn’t have intruded - “
“It’s okay,” you breathed, your fingertips fluttering hesitantly along his spine. Even that light touch through his clothes set Kurama’s body alight, and he clenched his eyes shut as the heat flooded through his body like a crashing wave. He needed to leave, now, before the last tenuous thread of his control snapped in two. “You know I always - I mean, you’re always welcome here, Kurama.”
Don’t say that, he pleaded inwardly, his brow dropping heavily to your shoulder. A red haze had settled over his mind, worsened by the strength of your scent, and though he grasped for control, for poise, for sanity, he could find none. Only heat, only desire, only need.
“Kurama… ?” you murmured worriedly, your palm smoothing over his brow. You gasped at the heat of his flesh, exclaiming, “You’re burning up!” but Kurama could barely hear you past the roaring in his ears.
“Forgive me,” he croaked, and then he was kissing you, cupping your face with trembling hands, hungry, desperate, deep.
You gasped against his mouth, folding beneath the weight of his body as it toppled into yours. The wall opposite your entryway saved you both from tumbling to the floor, and Kurama’s breath stuck hotly in his throat as he pressed you against it, his knee sliding between your thighs and his head tilting to deepen the angle of the kiss.
You whimpered as his tongue pushed through the seam of your lips, your fingers clutching at the back of his shirt and your heart rate accelerating as his thumbs grazed the corners of your closed eyes.
You were so warm, a gentle, coaxing heat rather than the blaze that had sent him to your door. The red haze that had stolen over his mind calmed at your taste, your scent, the weight of your body pressed against his, but the desire to take you, claim you, only grew stronger.
But something was wrong.
You were trembling.
In a rush, Kurama released your lips and removed his hands from your blazing cheeks, pushing his fists against the wall on either side of your head as he fought to catch his breath.
“Forgive me,” he repeated, his heart clenching at the startled confusion on your face. What had he done? “I should not have - I would not have - “
“Kurama,” you breathed, searching his eyes. “What’s going on?”
The truth, then. He owed you that much. In stilted words he attempted to explain the raging heat that had suffused his body, the driving urge to mate that all demons experienced but one he had assumed his human vessel had suppressed.
Your skin grew warm at the mention of mating, understanding blooming across your face and bringing a flush with it. “So you need to - ?”
“You needn’t worry,” Kurama quickly reassured you, feeling a flush of his own settle into his cheeks. “The lack of a mate is… inconvenient, but not lethal. I won’t be harmed.”
Your face crumpled in relief, before another thought seemed to strike you and you wet your lips to venture, your voice tentative, “Why did you come to me?”
Kurama could do little but gape silently in response. You really needed to ask… ?
He cleared his throat, making a concentrated effort to ignore the heat bubbling beneath his skin as he reached for your face and curled gentle fingers against your jaw.
“I had thought I’d made myself clear in that regard,” he admitted quietly, and your eyes grew wide. Stunned. His intentions had not been clear enough, it seemed. “Judging by your expression, I can see I’ve failed spectacularly. I’m afraid I must ask your forgiveness for a third time, then.”
You huffed, a laugh catching in your throat as your head sank back against the wall. “That’s a lot of forgiveness you’re asking for.”
Kurama’s brow dropped to the dip of your shoulder, his lips curled into a self-deprecating smile. “I know,” he murmured, shame-faced, only to still as your fingers settled in his hair, gently raking through the crimson strands.
“I didn’t say I wouldn’t forgive you,” you murmured, before clearing your throat and adding, “And it’s not like I would be against it, you know.”
Kurama lifted his head, peering curiously into your flustered face. “Against it?”
You refused to meet his eyes. “Helping you,” you clarified, waving your hand between you and drawing the fox demon’s attention to the fact that he’d yet to disentangle his limbs from yours, his thigh still tucked neatly between your own.
Your meaning was clear, and still Kurama could barely believe it.
“There is no obligation - “ he started, only to be interrupted by the sensation of your lips pressing against his.
“I know,” you assured him, and there was nothing but surety in the hands you’d curled around his jaw, the eyes that peered sweetly into his own. “I want to.”
His body warmed, the heat spilling through his blood and winding through his limbs like a lover’s caress. You gasped as he drew you in, but your kiss was just as fierce as his, just as hungry, desperate, deep.
