So here's how Zaquel can still win-
SHUT UP. ZAQUEL RIGHTS
Snaibsel 🤝 Zaquel
Man, I need a tag for ships of fandoms I've been a part of for YEARS that take me by complete surprise and make me fall for them instantly.
Cause it's happened so many times now and it usually goes:
And then:
I was absent the day of your Zaquel thing so yes I would like to hear it again if it's not too much trouble
Okay, so basically it all goes back to the episode Overwhelmed. One key thing to remember throughout this whole analysis is that the episode takes place on Valentine's Day, all right? Now, in this episode, Artemis calls on Zatanna to help her contact Wally in the afterlife and Zatanna creates a ruse using M'gann's psychic powers and a spell that is literally just a big light show to make Artemis believe she had contacted Wally successfully. Now, my question regarding all that is why did Raquel have to be present at that scene at all unless her Valentine's Day plans got interrupted at the same time Zatanna's did when Artemis called her?
We all know the real reason Raquel was there was so that the audience could see the truth behind what Zatanna had done, and the in-universe reason was to offer emotional support to Artemis whenit was done. However, that in-universe reason seems a little flimsy if you ask me considering Zatanna already had M'gann there, claiming she was there for that reason. M'gann is definitely a much closer friend of Artemis' than Raquel is, and while I'm sure Artemis and Raquel are close, I feel like Zatanna really only needed to bring one other close friend to really sell the ruse. Plus, think about the real reason Raquel was there. What reason would Zatanna have to reveal what she had done to another person when that would only increase the chances of her getting caught in her lies unless she told Raquel the truth because there aren't supposed to be any secrets between them because they're involved romantically?
Plus you've also got two other things, in my opinion at least, that link Zatanna and Rocket together romantically and one of them is what happened in the final scene of the season three finale in Bibbo's Diner. All the members of the OG Team are there in the diner having a good time and all of them are sitting with their romantic partners or the closest thing they've got to one that season in the case of Artemis. Dick is with Barbara, Conner and M'gann are together, as are Kaldur and Wyynde, and Artemis, who is the only one still single at the time, is sitting with Will whom she did have a brief romantic storyline with that season. But then you've also got Raquel sitting with Zatanna. When you take into account who all the other Team members are sitting with, it only makes sense to say that Raquel and Zatanna might just be romantically involved after all. Plus there's that little glasses clink they do, which if you ask me is just LOADED with romantic chemistry.
The second thing pointing towards Zatanna and Raquel being together is the fact that Raquel is not wearing a wedding ring in any scene she is involved in in season three. When you take into account the fact that M'gann is never seen without her engagement ring, you have to assume the fact that Raquel doesn't have a wedding ring is not just an animation error and that her marriage that was mentioned in season two likely ended in between the seasons, leaving her free to pursue a romantic relationship with Zatanna. And you can't deny that Zatanna and Raquel had romantic chemistry even as far back as season two. I still think back to the "Maybe backwards is my native tongue" line from the Intervention episode in season two and can only really see that as flirting. I don't know how to explain why, that's just the way I see it.
Anyhoozles, that's my full analysis on why Zatanna and Raquel are more than likely a couple at this point in the series. Hope that answered your question, and if you or anyone else have any further questions, thoughts, or can provide any more proof to add to this theory, don't hesitate to share!
Personally, I still believe that Raquel and Zatanna should be in love, married, and can kiss eachother on the mouth, as a treat.
