it was supposed to be a fanfic but it never evolved from the measly bullet point I wrote on the 8 hr car drive home lmao

hnghhhhh this is probably gonna be chockful of canon inconsistencies but ehh

things about this au:

zeze transferred to minami’s middle school the same year he met kamioka

around that time the stigma around minami’s “im a princess” claims in elementary had already solidified the stigma around him

he still keeps the notebook around and he writes memories as he remembers them

he mostly does it in quiet locations (like the rooftop, or the gardens) since he can hear the dialogue “clearer”

he was just hanging peacefully by the bushes when he overhears sth

yeah remember zeze? anyways he’s there and he’s been trying to leave the school early bcs his sister is sick and he needs to take care of her

minami doesn’t actually see him he just spots a sprinkler by his foot and decided to help mystery guy since he has a sister himself

yes, he redirects the hose over the bushes to serve as distraction and zeze uses that to ditch

minami gets caught tho

yes zeze also gets detention the next day

as he’s being reprimanded he puts two and two tgt and realizes minami’s the one who helped him

minami is on his way to the classroom after school when he gets ambushed by this guy which, uhhh, whomst?

She glanced out through the open window, her eyes catching the sight of a familiar form approaching. A radiant smile forming on the blonde’s lips with knowing anticipation.

Manami folded her arms upon the window pane and smirked at the figure, cocking her head to one side with her cheek pressed against her hand to tease the approaching man in front of her. “You’re late.”

Zero’s lip curved up slightly, “thank you for your patience,” he countered, mirroring her coquetry. The impatient strawberry-blonde woman before him had been gracious with her virtues she gifted him, and her gift finally being rewarded in return for his long-awaited answer to her years-long question.

Amethyst eyes melding into hazel. They were inches apart from one another as he stood below her, separated only by a window between them as she stood within the first story of her home. His face tilting towards hers with a smile that lit up his handsome features and touched his eyes, a smile she’s never seen before. Her hazel eyes softening as she soaked in the sight of him, every detail.

Seconds remained till he spoke again, softer, filled with much-unspoken emotion, “And… For waiting.”
