I Don't Think L is Actually Immortal

Everyone just kinda assumes that he's gonna be living for 3,000 years, L included. But there really isn't anything that Proves that. (As far as I can tell?)

He says that Zygrade saved him from the Weapon at the start. Enough to keep it from killing him, even if it didn't protect him from losing his memories. I mean, he's hunched more than he used to be, and missing an eye. His hair's gone white, but that's just a sign that the cells that make hair color have died, and that can happen due to injuries/stress/trauma, and not just from aging.

(My mom's hair went white when she was in her 20s.)

So his body is definitely being hit by injuries/aging that AZ didn't seem to suffer in XY. And, for all we know, AZ's hair could have always been white/silver.

I think that AZ's immortality comes from a mix of Criteria he needed to fulfill as part of his "Divine Punishment" for his actions. (And the fact that he used the weapon TWICE. Once to bring back Floette and once to end the bloody, terrible war that had been raging at the time.) And as ZA shows, he isn't immortal anymore by this point. So that means he must have finally finished whatever he needed to do to be allowed to finally pass away.

L was only around the Weapon being used once. And he certainly was far more beaten up by it than AZ had been. Moreover, he says he survived because Zygrade saved him.

So for all we know, he just thinks he's survived being blessed/cursed with immortality by being near the Weapon. But, in reality, it was actually Zygarde's interventions that kept him alive. Maybe even repeatedly over the past 5 years. Keeping the human who'd promised to help it recover alive/safe so he could actually do that.

Without Zygrade there, he may be just as mortal as everyone else.

He just had a very good dog keeping him safe.
