Hello everyone, welcome to Tales Of Anjels! My name is Anjels Master Scribe and Keeper of the Celestial Archivesand and I will be your guide on this journey, here you can see a little more of the secret archives of my universe. But before starting our adventure you need to know a little bit about me. I am a Brazilian freelance artist and writer, I love all kinds of arts, but the literal and visual arts are two of my biggest passions, my desire is to share this same passion with others. Why is the mountain range square. How did the mountain range form. Why is there one singular volcano in the center. Why does it act like a composite volcano but have magma that acts like it’s from a shield. If it’s hotspot based volcanic activity why is there only one volcano.

And then the misty mountains!!!! Why isn’t there a rain shadow!! And why is there a FOREST where the rain shadow should be!!!!!!!!

So what is a rain shadow?

Wind blows clouds in from the sea, but mountains are so tall the clouds can't get past 'em, so you get deserts on the windward side of mountain ranges because clouds can't get there to water the land, or do so only very rarely.

Oh yeah nothing is more annoying than fantasy maps that can't get mountains, rivers and rain shadows right.

May I recommend my new favorite tool: Mapgen4. You start with a random seed and then add mountains, valleys, shallow water, or oceans as you like. You can adjust the wind direction to make wind shadows off the mountains fall where you want. You can adjust overall raininess to make the rivers larger or smaller, or have more or fewer tributaries. It works best for small, isolated landmasses (think islands more than continents) but as there’s no scale bar and it’s all slightly abstracted anyway you can do whatever you want with it. I’ve only just started playing with it but it’s SO FUN.

I made these as a way to compile all the geographical vocabulary that I thought was useful and interesting for writers. Some descriptors share categories, and some are simplified, but for the most part everything is in its proper place. Not all the words are as useable as others, and some might take tricky wording to pull off, but I hope these prove useful to all you writers out there!

The Battle of Piraja

On the corner of Rua Visconde de Pirajá and Rua Garcia D'Ávila, in Ipanema, there is a statue of a limp soldier, leaning on a pole to avoid falling and playing a trumpet. What few people know is that that caricatured figure is a tribute to a hero from the history of Brazil. A hero by chance, it is true, but a man who changed the course of our country's history.

The story is as follows:

When D. Pedro I proclaimed Brazil's independence on September 7, 1822, the Portuguese garrison stationed in Salvador rebelled and refused to accept the new regime. Brazilian troops were then sent to quell the riot and restore the emperor's authority in the capital of Bahia. The rebels, more numerous, better armed and better trained, were winning the battle. The commander of the Brazilian forces, sensing the imminent defeat, ordered Corneteiro Lopes to sound “Debandar!” Legend has it that Lopes, completely drunk, got confused and, instead of “Debandar(Disband)!” Forward! Cut the throat!”.

Faced with the reaction of the Brazilians, the Portuguese soldiers, convinced that the Bahians had received reinforcements, retreated and the Emperor's troops retook Salvador. It was July 2, 1823, which is still celebrated as the date of Independence of Bahia and the conflict was baptized as the "Battle of Pirajá." Hence the eternal tribute in a bronze statue to Corneteiro Lopes to be located exactly on Rua Visconde de Pirajá, name of the combat that took place.

Michael Clarke Duncan - Gentle Giant

Actor Michael Clarke Duncan would be 65 today, unfortunately he left us ten years ago. Certainly John Coffey's most famous role in the film "The Green Mile" (1999).

It didn't look at all like this man would ever be an actor. Michael was forced to leave the university because his single mother - a maid by trade - fell ill. So he supported his sister and her. Until the age of 30, he first mined, and then worked as a security guard. He was 196 cm tall and weighed 142 kg. He was a security guard for the film company and actors Will Smith, Jamie Foxx and Martin Lawrence. His mother felt that her son should no longer remain in the shadows and that he should try his hand at acting. He was noticed and quickly appeared in the comedy "Petak" and then in a series of commercials. He broke out with the movie Armageddon (1998). Bruce Willis, who starred with Duncan in that film (later in three others), was a fan of King's book and recommended him to director Frank Darabont for the role in "The Green Mile." At the audition, Darabont liked the kindness of such a great guy and that, along with his talent, was a determining factor in his choice. He later said that he was very happy that he was chosen for the role, because even with Tom Hanks, the movie wouldn't have been as powerful without Michael. To play the role as convincingly as possible, for the emotional scenes in the movie "The Green Mile", Michael would remember how his father abandoned him when he was a child. He ended up being nominated for an Oscar and many other awards. He loved lending his deep voice to cartoons, it was one of his favorite jobs. People often stopped him on the street, but almost nobody knew his name – because of that, the actor had the habit of honoring anyone who knew his name with a few dollars. Duncan died of a heart attack at age 55. 🧔🏿‍♂️❤️🌍

How to use a reaction gif in an AO3 comment

You can do lots of different things on AO3 if you know some basic html. Here’s a quick reference guide created by a user. Here’s another one. You can also use free websites like W3 Schools to help you out as you get started. 

Heck, AO3′s FAQ has a whole section on how to use html on the Archive. It’s easy, once you know how.

When you’re writing a fic in the composition window, you have the option of either using html or using the Rich Text editor. All other areas of the site, you need to use html. This means that you can add links and images and bold text etc. anywhere you can type in text. You just have to use html tags in order to do it. 

This includes the comments section. If you want to make a word in a comment bold? Put a b or a strong tag around it. If you want to add an image, use an img tag. 

Now, to give you the answer that I title-baited you with. How do you reaction gif in a comment?

Find the gif you want to react with. It needs to be uploaded to the internet somewhere and not just live on your phone or your laptop. 

Right-click on the gif and copy the image address

In the AO3 comment window, type <img src=“

after the quotation marks, paste the image address you just copied

finish with ”>
