I wonder, if the people who don't understand "I don't want a computer to do my art for me", would get it if we compare it to jigsaw puzzles. Because like, a lot of people have accidentally absorbed the horrible idea "doing art is only for the people who are good at it", so they'd only have vague childhood memories of what it was like to create for the joy of it. However, jigsaw puzzles are specifically sold for the fun of the process, of putting it together; not the finished product, because otherwise you'd buy a poster with the same design.

the people have spoken! resippy for Lemon Garlic Aioli Goat Cheese Cake (aka, Hear Me Out): (adapted to make it less oily and more structually sound) the aioli

1 clove garlic

80 grams goat cheese of your choice

1 tsp salt

1/2 cup of olive oil

2 hard boiled eggs

1 raw egg

2 cups of flour

1 cup sugar

2 tsp baking soda

1 tsp vanilla essence

zest of 1 lemon

juice of 2 lemons

1 raw egg

1/4 cup milk

make aioli the usual way: blitz the eggs (raw and cooked) with garlic and cheese using a blender. slowly drizzle in the oil until an emulsion forms. taste it, realise it's way too salty, and cry.

make a cake the usual way: sift togather all the dry ingredients. in a separate bowl, mixed the wet ingredients with the garlic goat cheese aioli. mix the wet and dry togather, then pour into a baking pan. cook at 180*C for ~30 minutes until a skewer comes out clean when inserted into the center. pace around the kitchen while it cooks, pondering your life choices

make sure you rest your cake for 20 minutes first! don't cut into a cake while it's hot because it will collapse, and that would completely ruin it!

if this becomes a heritage post my life would be complete although i feel i should provide some more context as this post begins to blow up:

-the video is from a time before sharing files across devices was trivial, which is why it looks so bizarre. my brother took the original video which i believe was a snapchat video which somehow got uploaded onto my parents’ computer, where my brother showed it to me. i immediately recognized the comedic gold and insisted on getting my own copy, so i re-filmed it on my own digital camera, which is why my brother is narrating what the video will be about before it starts. i then managed to get it onto my tumblr through a series of dark magic rituals. this is why it has an old mac toolbar AND a weird caption AND a vidlab watermark. simpler times indeed

-i was not involved in the act of exploring an abandoned mine shaft (extremely dangerous, do not do this) or touching the wild animal (extremely dangerous, do not do this) or hanging out with my brother (extremely dangerous, do not do this) and i do not endorse any of the behavior depicted here. leaving me notes and comments explaining that this was a bad idea is not a productive use of your time. i have known that everything my brother and his friends do is stupid and dangerous my entire life but at least in this instance we get to enjoy the fruits of their poor choices

-preston was fine. he was scratched up and got some rabies shots but this was not the first, last, or worst injury incurred by a young man who decided to follow my brother’s recommendations for what would be a good and cool idea to do. my storytelling final! or, that week i almost went blind cross-hatching!

it’s a couple weeks old at this point, but i’m still proud of it (all that cross-hatching…) even though looking back at it now i can see a ton of flaws or things i just could’ve done better. maybe i’ll redo it one day.
